FAUN - Federkleid (Offizielles Video)

August 2016 ++

    • I guess a lot of people have lost interest in history, especially of their own nation. Therefore, these people don’t know about the existence of such music. They just go with what’s "cool" with their friends, afraid to stand out for listening to other kinds of music. Seems like peer pressure. Eurovision thus goes with what’s trending with the different nation’s people. That’s my guess. Personally, I listen to many genres, classical, modern. Medieval songs, military marches, modern synth, etc. Our world is rich with music for everyone, and comes from different points in history.

Where Ancient songs come through the mists Come and fly with us along Let yourself be taken away from this place Come and fly as high as you could Let us hunt the heaven The wind dances Mist like silk Strikes my skin so cold Forward and forward Where is my longing destiny? I close my eyes and I grow a plumage Again i feel the wind and open my wings wide Come and fly with us along Let yourself be taken away from this place Come and fly as high as you could Let us hunt the heaven The wind dances The heavens in you How can I know them, can I see them? This is one of the ones that I mentioned. Then I spent weeks watching many videos and becoming a fan of some artists I knew nothing about. Exploring those artists was fun. Listening to the good music few people know about has made realize that hipsters are not snobs. They just prefer that kind of thing. In the meantime it became less cool to make fun of them. Just like with the emo kids before them. I failed to see which music subculture is the new victim of the internet mob that is seeing them as some sort of caricature weirdos. They are too much into those women who had a really bad day and ended up screaming at the cashiers, and feeling bad about it afterwards.

I close my eyes and a plumage sprouts Ich schließe die Augen und mir sprießt ein Federkleid I already feel the wind and spread my wings Schon spür ich den Wind und mache meine Flügel weit Come and fly away with us Komm und fliege mit uns fort Let the wind carry you away from this place Lass dem Wind dich tragen, weit fort von diesem Ort Come and fly as high as you can Komm und flieg so hoch du kannst Let's chase the heavens in dance Lass uns die Himmel jagen im Tanz The heavens in you, how can I know them, can they see them? We dance in flight, like stars that go their own way Wir tanzen im Fluge, wie Sterne, die ihrer Wege zieh'n Come and fly away with us Komm und fliege mit uns fort Let the wind carry you away from this place Lass dem Wind dich tragen, weit fort von diesem Ort Come and fly as high as you can Komm und flieg so hoch du kannst Let's chase the heavens in dance Lass uns die Himmel jagen im Tanz

  • I love to imagine the times when this kind of music was ‘contemporary’. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t want to live without ambulances, antibiotics and proper toilets. But somehow, being nostalgic about the old days resembles a longing for a less rushed, more basic life. More in tune with ourselves and nature. German, Celtic, Slavic... though different peoples, they all had their similarities. And today, we’re all mixed and mingled among each other and I think that’s beautiful ❤️ Let’s sit together and make music every once in a while.

    • As best I can, I do live that way. Like you, I want the benefits of modernity but without the entanglements. It is not all that hard. It just takes a certain commitment and shared beliefs with friends. I started living like this in the 1970's and I am now 67 years old; it took a while for me to deprogram but I miss very little of that world. (Thank God for KZhead though!!!!)

    • Peter Callaghan truly inspiring! Some only see extremes: either a life as a urban, capitalist Borg or living without electricity and clean water.... but in reality, balance is the answer, I think. I hope more and more people find the courage to disentangle themselves from the modern hassle and realise that it doesn’t take all that much to live a satisfying life. I have recently decided to ditch my ‘career’ and go back to working part time in the social/ care sector, so I can be with people and spend the rest of my time writing books. Will also start to grow my own potatoes and carrots - looking forward to it! But yeah, thank god for KZhead :D
