MY MOTHER TOLD ME ft. KING HARALD & HALFDAN - NORDIC MUSIC - VIKINGS THEME SONG
The video has 2 parts, the first sung in Old Norse, and the second a modern version. For reference, The Vikings Brothers King Harald & Halfdan sung this epic song in the episode S05E10 of Vikings.
Old Norse:
Þat mælti mín móðir,
at mér skyldi kaupa
fley ok fagrar árar,
fara á brott með víkingum,
standa upp í stafni,
stýra dýrum knerri,
halda svá til hafnar,
höggva mann ok annan.
English:
My mother told me
Someday I would buy
A galley with good oars
Sail to distant shores
Stand upon the prow
Noble barque I steer
Steady course for the haven
Hew many foe-men,
Hew many foe-men.
Music: MY MOTHER TOLD ME by PERLY I LOTRY (Vikings Soundtrack Music).

Agreed. It was cool to see a character not obsessed with power and such, just exploring.
Harold and Halfdan almost stole the show, Great and charismatic performances by these two.
I suggest you check their other movies out. I don't know if they have Eng subtitles. The movies are (Leijonasydän) "lionheart" (Tie pohjoiseen) "Road to the north" .. And so on. They are amazing actors at the least.
Roubaram sim! Ambos estão entre os melhores personagens da série! Principalmente Harald!!! O Rei da porra toda!!! Kkkkkkk
Harald definitely stole the show. Amazing actor and amazing performance.
True❤️❤️❤️
they did steal the show. not the whole thing...but there were definitely a lot of times where everything else fell to the side when it came to these two... kind of why it had such a big part, it was meant to be a big thing
The look on Halfdan's face when he finishes singing gets me everytime. The anguish in that look of having to battle the brother he loves so much breaks my heart
the moment of the strike shook me the cut that he took...
Also that everyone else are just silently listening/enjoying the song in this edit, including Björn, just empowers the song so much. It's as if everyone knows two titan brothers are coming to blows and it would be rude to interrupt.
Most poetic deaths in the show. Fantastic performance. 👏 👏 👏

I didn't like Halfdan at first but I ended up loving him. This is what a great character development looks like. Lived and died like a true viking!
Of course, because they wanted to seems it. They do a great job, because they changes the view of a killer, murderer. Cuz he is still be the person who raped and killed a whole family with cold blood. But in the end they reach that even you can cry because this evil son of a b&@?! died. One of most beautiful moments from vikings series, so noble, natural and simply powerful. ❤

The best soundtracks ever! I got so many songs from this show and very few people appreciate it. Greetings from South Africa.
A lot of the scenes had music from the band Wardruna.. they even had the lead singer as a character at one point.
All thanks to Wardruna, and a really good team of historians, to research the oldest songs still registered in Icelandic, and then translating back to Old Norse. Kudos to both Wardruna and the show's historians.

Halfdan is definitely one of my favourite viking characters, his development was insane.
Ein tolles Lied. Es vermittelt Kraft, Mut und Stärke. 👍
Bjorn saved his life and he lived for Bjorn, today people just say Thank you.
@Interrupting Cow 'Blood is thicker than water' is taken out of context in modern English. The water is the water of birth, the blood is the blood shed during combat among warriors, shedding blood together is more important than the water you were born from is the origina meaning. Halfdan was no blood traitor. He added another brother to his brotherhood. Refeerence Shakespeare, the Band of Brothers speech by Henry the V if you like.
@@skaterdave03 This isn't exactly correct, the way I know it is "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Meaning the bonds of friends that you make through meeting them and building a relationship "blood brothers" is stronger than just being born into a relationship and being expected to love them.
@Interrupting Cow his brother was crazy and would kill anyone just to be king. I would betray him.
Blood traitor? Lol you all need to read the myth of Kumbakarna. It's a Hindu myth with themes of brotherhood and loyalty. One of the morals of the story is to be careful when swearing blind loyalty even to your brother. Halfdan swore on his oath ring(the physical manifestation of his honor) to serve Bjorn. To break that would be an affront to their gods. I wont serve a mad man just because he is my brother. Not to mention Harald was using his brother towards his own goals not considering his feelings or goals. If blood is so thick and powerful and meaningful why did Harald kill Halfdan?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
