In this video, I decided to test 0-60 run between BMW X5 4.8is vs BMW X5 35i. I used engine code scanner feature to capture those times!

Good video but frankly speaking cars are a lot more than just numbers. Even though E53 is slower in numbers it gives you a sensation E70 can't. I certainly choose E53

He was driving the E53 all wrong. And the tach was still lit up with amber. That engine makes the all important for 0-60 torque at 5500-6000rpm. Short shifting the auto manually would easily pull a 6.2-6.4s Same could be said for the 35i but the most important result of this comparison is the rumble of that V8 monster. E53 wins all day.
E53 barely beat the slower trim e70… not even the 50i and X5M… e53 doesn’t really compete

I would still buy the 4.8is for the stance and the V8 exhaust sound
Funny.. My X5 E53 4.8is runs from my neighbours x5 F15 3.5i all day every day, and the specs is like 0.5 sec from factory, only given that my car is from 2004. Cars loose WHP afther the years. And that spaceship of an bumer is 10 year plus.... compering? just shows that the 4.8is still got a kick. BMW official numbers E53 4.8is 6.1 sec F15 3.5 6.5sec. V8 any day over turbo charged ;)
Considering buying a 2005 X5 4.8is from a friend. It has 102,000 miles on it and he replaced the valve stem seals last year. He is asking $9K. Not sure if its a good price or if I should pull the trigger on it. What year is yours? Any advice...lol?
@paolo-n2000 Hey, for me I can only guess that u r talking aboud US dollars 9K? I payed about 1400 euros for mine, 2 years ago.04 model black saphire black interior. I do not know what interior color in the car u think about? is it full service in the book? 'and how many owners total has this car ect... for me it coast about 1500\2000 USD to keep in traffic every year including bmw inspection 1 at my local bmw garage. 102,000 miles not bad milage, low milage by v8 standard. Only lookout for the ZF 6HP transmission, if the ¨ lifetime ¨ oil has not been changed, stay away. ;)
Bro, I have the 4.4i, and no way the F15 35i will loose. It's over a second faster easily...

A/C on or off? Should make a tiny difference, plus u should try stalling it up on edge of traction just for testing sake ,great video
You didnt turn DSC off in the E53. You cant in these cars. You actually disabled xDrive, & locked it in 4x4, which in theory should hurt its 0-60.
He turned off dsc ,not complitely(pressing 8 seconds to dsc button).You cant disable xdrive
35i would beat e53 obviously because of the turbine. More interesting would be 4.8is e53 vs e70 4.8i V8s only.
Remap on that 35i would see it under 6 for sure

The E70 actually has a ZF 8 speed transmission not a 7 speed. Actually with a simple MHD tune and an upgraded air filter the E70 will hit 6 seconds flat.

My 4.8is is dynoed at 312whp with reflash, intake and headers but stock muffler. Thats more than 400hp at the crank

You using the manual shift? I had that problem over 20 years ago on my 4.4i I had to manual shift 1-3 and then I can I put it into drive so highway drives was fine but local was a pain in the ass until I get my appointment at BMW and transmission replaced at 34k miles. It was an 01 4.4 non sport
And now turbocharge the v8 and retry

the e70 will always be faster than the e53 because the e70 is so ugly no one wants to ride in it except the driver

I just can’t see it doing that good cause I owned 2 e60 550s which came with the 4.8 and I don’t think I was getting 4.7 seconds to 60mph… more like low 5s making me able to run neck and neck with e46 M3 that my brother had at the time.
Everyone Knows the E70 turbo engine is under rated at 300hp. The 335 (same engine) makes 300+ at rear wheels so thats 350-370hp. Also the 7 speed trans and lighter weight makes faster vehicle. I use to have a 2003 W163 ML500 rated at 300hp but always blew away my brothers 2004 E53 4.8. Wasn’t even that hard to beat him. Those old BMWs weigh almost 5000lbs. To Heavy

BMW never had a 7 speed automatic transmission so keep beating your fantasy brothers 4.8is with your fantasy ML500… one car doesn’t even compete with another yet “it wasn’t that hard to beat”. Was he parked?
it's just heavy. 300+hp and will get beat by a civic sport.... too much weight to carry.

@@imagex8000 True. xDrive wasn't as good planetary AWD which came on pre-2004. Pre-2004 also handled better too with less understeer.
Any and all vs vids I have seen disproves that... But I'm kinda byes because my iS is not stock. And have only lost to a handful of cars Tesla, Srt8 etc but a 35d can't catch me and I know that is much faster then a 35i. Have you owned ether car? Just conversation 🤝
@@chenjiang2251 In The faclift model you can turn of the xdrive making it 30/70 4x4 the pre facelift is still fast for an sav not that much difference imo
