Its time to start the abandoned Lamborghini Murcielago for the first time in 7 years after rebuilding the engine! i bought the car from a track experience company where it was left with a seized V12 & a gated manual transmission. But will it start!!...

Seeing you all this with your dad makes me realise how fortunate you are. My dad had dementia from his very early 60s, but my best times with my dad were under a Datsun 180B when i was 17 and 18 yo. Treasure these times with your dad mate. I know you will because they will be on KZhead unless you pull them one day. They're incredibly important times.

Except for how he plays annoying melodramatic music at the beginning of almost all of his videos and how he tells that nearly every car he gets was his dream car and he's always wanted to have that car. I mean, for a couple of cars, sure, even I have my favourites. But not all cars that I work on are my favourite cars.

That much so I had tears in my eyes as the feelings are raw and real and yes exactly that we don't see this on yt it's all soo fake unfortunately that normally spoils it but not for matt as we all know he is as real as the come. 🎉😊

I think what makes Matt’s content so good is his understanding of *story*. Find me another channel that understands rhythm and pacing like this - every 20 minutes is an absolute breeze to watch, and it’s because he doesn’t waste a second on anything the viewer doesn’t need to see. Along with management of tone (reversals and setbacks), use of music and knowing where to end each vid so the viewer is satisfied but still wants more. Basically you’re a great editor Matt - no idea how you find the time to do it all alongside the rebuilds and the travel!

@@MatArmstrongbmx I used to reckon on cutting 5 tight minutes a day when I was a professional editor, so putting out a 25 min vid a week is basically a full time job by itself! 🤣

My wife and I also like the storytelling and how he follows through with his builds, though we don't even have a car. It's a big misunderstanding of some KZheadrs, to think that people subscribe to them even if they get nothing done.
@@MatArmstrongbmx I was talking to SV Delos once and they recon'ed for a 40 min video it took them 40 hours to produce. How you find the time to make these fantastic (the best on YT) videos in between fixing these cars is a a feat of super human endurance and dedication! Respect!

We need a separate account for your dad he is a legend! Lost my dad when I was young and I used to rebuild cars and tractors with him and this brings me so much joy and memories! Actually went on to be a mechanic and even I’m learning so much from your videos! Love it

The father / son teamwork and mutual respect is so uplifting. Mat is the talkative front man, but at appropriate times, he defers to his dad. Equally, Mat’s dad is a modest guy and a lot of the time, he’ll discuss with, rather than tell, his son. And both of them laughing like drains when the Vee Twelve lights up properly (definitely sounds like it’s running on all cylinders because it’s so freaking smooth, a malevolent single tone from the exhaust). Other father son petrol head channels are Vice Grip Garage (Derek & his boys) and also Lee Johnson (motorcycle racing) with his lad, Jessie. Enjoy!

I was into tears after hearing the first crank. I was so closely following this particular project that i felt it was one of my success to hear the engine start. It feels blessed that i found you content. I would love to see the car in real one day.
Mat I am 62 years old I been a mechanic since I was 15 and it just goes to show your never to late to learn .I have been with big companies in my life and I am amazed mate why hat goes off to u and your dad .

You're a genuinely nice bloke, Mat! You gave a fan (someone essentially unknown to you) the chance to first-start the Murcielago. Small suggestion for you though: Please invest in a sandblasting cabinet for the removable metal parts. And use glass beads in it to get that metal shining up ;) It would look AWESOME on the Murcielago motor!

Best rebuild ever i got alot of learning from the lambo especially on engine timing and getting parts from other car brands
The belt tensioner technique is GENIUS, I would never imagined that it is possible to tension it just like a guitar chord. Amazing.
What an amazing community this is! Mat and his dad resurrecting the engine, other guys at workshop helping out, Tavarish just checking in to help as well. Then the php guy giving online advice, and Lee starting the car eventually!

I absolutely adore the Lamborghini Murcielago, It is truly a timeless and beautiful piece of art. There is no better sounding V12 that Lamborghini has made to date. I literally cried tears of joy when I heard her sing that beautiful tune that the V12 does.

Totally agree, best upload. Watching this and reading your comment brought a few tears to my eye. Built many cars with Dad, petrol was in our blood and banter. He's been gone 10yrs this summer. I still hear his voice when I'm working on my cars, holding his old ratchet and spanners in my hand. I know he is up there giving me an agreeing nod to my current project (Audi BRV V8 block with twin turbos). 🙂

So many things I could say here but the highlights here are all the hard work your dad and friends have put in this and the fact that Freddie was here shows the great collab work and content all you guys are putting out there on youtube. Who knew that tensioning a belt needed to be done by sound? I learned that from you Mat. That’s the content you are putting out there, never heard of it before. Looking forward to the next amazing video.
Ducati timing belts are tensioned by sound. so are the oil cooler belts on a AW109 helicopter. really good way of getting the correct tension. top video matt.

It's an indescribable moment, I shared the start with you and everyone in that garage. I was very happy when the engine started and you could hear the sound after adding gas. These are the moments when emotions shoot up, you let out a loud breath, your heart starts pounding like church bells and then you feel relieved that you made it. Super episode and I'm extremely glad that I could see it and share that moment with you Mat.
