Mark, that last email he wrote that he claims was "In the morning after a night of partying", please check the timestamp. If this timestamp doesn't match "morning hours" for a US citizen then maybe fake ken is not from US. It could be a clue.
You proved the valid point Mark, scammers are thick, because they are so arrogant they totally expose themselves when they threaten you and that is always their downfall. He's not in Texas, that'll be a spoofed IP. He sounds like a Romanian or Russian thug on the phone. I hope this all turns out ok, it's risky publicizing it like this before the guy or group is caught.

It's not a Russian accent, not traditional one at least. It's actually quite easy to work out nationality when you have bulk text to go through as grammatical mistakes are very consistent identifiers.

Mark, that's not his IP address from the email headers. That's of the sending mail server, and at 20:08, it's just a random Google server in the rough location, which may or may not be correct if they're using a VPN, which they almost certainly are. You won't get the IP address from the email headers unless a server at his location is being used, which it isn't.

Chances of a coward turning up = 0, but nice work cornering him and the authorities are alert. It is amazing how many scams are running at the moment, as you said, if you cannot see it, touch it and shake someone's hand, walk away. I had to put down a deposit on a car I recently bought and did not breath a sigh of relief until I turned up and saw it and they gave me the keys and said take it for a spin. Old School.

Interesting that he spelled "monetisation" the UK English way. His IP address was a server in Texas sure but his accent and the spelling gives him away. This man is in India, likely working from one of the many scam call centers.

IP doesn’t show your exact location. It’s not GPS.
@beautyisontheinside it does when you contact the provider of the ip they can locate you, or atleast trace what your connected to. Unless ofcourse you use a blocker.

UK Police won't touch this with a barge. UK Police don't have jurisdiction to deal with threats from someone abroad. Your better off reporting it to the local Police where the suspect lives in the US.
Call the FBI office in dallas. Have them contact your local police.

The crime crosses state borders so it's best to contact the FBI, they have a particular interest in shutting down domestic US fraud that affects foreign nationals.

not really, hes found an IP in a header, it doesn't help at all really, and you can't find IP info from insta or LinkedIn etc. He'd have to try and match the names of the accounts, but again it give shim nothing, It sounded impressive, the reality is it gets them nowhere.

Wow. That story was fascinating and unnerving at the same time. We are all susceptible to scammers and they are all around us, it's just not usually the case that the victim gets to find out who the scammer is and hopefully get something done about it.
