Don't know where to start when it comes to making bread? Do you only have all-purpose flour? Scared you're going to fail? Fear not!! This is the bread recipe you've been looking for! I will show you how to make bread step by step! Let's do this!!
White Bread Recipe:
4 cups warm water
2 TBSP. active dry yeast
Dash of white granulated sugar
Mix together and let "foam" for 10 minutes in a warm place, covered.
After 10 minutes, pour yeast mixture into large mixing bowl. Add:
1 TBSP. salt
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup honey
5 cups all-purpose flour
Mix. Add 5-7 more cups flour (ONE CUP AT A TIME) until dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead by hand on lightly floured surface for 5-8 minutes. Place dough in a greased large bowl and spray dough with cooking spray. Then cover with a dish towel and let the dough rise until doubled in size, 30-45 minutes. Generously grease 3 (9 x 5 in) loaf pans and set aside.
Punch down the dough, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead it briefly to remove the air bubbles. Divide dough in thirds, knead each section a few times, and then shape into a loaf. Place the dough into prepared loaf pans. Rub the top of the loaves with soft butter then cover with a dish towel and let rise 30-45 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake the loaves for 30 minutes. Immediately remove loaves from pans and cool on a wire rack. Rub the top with butter while still hot!
You can freeze this bread in a freezer bag for up to 2 months!

  • I am 58 years old. My Mother is from North Dakota. Growing up I use to always watch her make homemade bread. Watching her kneed and kneed her dough in a huge wash tub. Watching her let it rise. We never bought a Loaf of Bread out of grocery store. We had a red handle bread knife that you could adjust to the size of the sandwich bread you wanted. I'll never forget how hard she worked a 40 hour a week job and made bread for the whole week. I miss those days. She is 81 now and back in North Dakota. What a Glorious Mother she is.

  • It is so beautiful to see a young woman who has mastered these traditional techniques. I'm 81 and have been making bread for 65 years also learned from my mother. With current prices a loaf of your bread would cost no more than $1 instead of $3 up to $7. All during covid my daughter in-law did our grocery shopping and I baked 8 loaves and shared them with her. There is nothing more rewarding than making bread. My mom, who had dementia, came for supper the day I made bread. She sat herself down on a kitchen chair and sniffed and then in a sweet voice she said "oh, you made bread! Can I have the heel and lots of butter." Roles had been reversed. I am so blessed by having a mother like her. She died peacefully in my arms at 89. Your video made me happy and took me back to better times. Your Mom must be so proud of you. Thank you..

    • I love your story....the way it used to be. Back in a time when people helped each other out and didn't expect things for free, but at least tried to bring something useful to you in exchange. Nothing wrong with helping others when they need it too, but the simple barter system was a wonderful thing I think. I remember going to my Aunt's house in the mountains as a kid and we would beg to stay because she made the best fried chicken, fresh corn on the cob and green beans from her garden and fresh baked biscuits.... memories I will never forget. I started raising chickens and I've begun teaching myself how to make bread and it has inspired others around me to start or to take it back up again. There is so much satisfaction in making things from scratch....

    • @@kellyross6622 you are so right. Baking yeast bread is a tradition and is also a religious expression in the Russian/Ukrainian Orthodox Church community. Tradition has it that each household would bake done like Easter-breads looking like domes of a Church. They come in different sizes, some are large 3 lbs coffee can, 2 and 1 lbs, either frosted with icing or left plain. It also represents the Risen Lord. Small ones are baked in 6oz cand and given to children to carry them in their little Easter baskets to get blessed after Easter Services. I was also do happy that I learned the art his to make them. Somehow as my husband is now gone I started buying them at the church bake-sale; I found that my Parents' Easter-breads (Kulich) tasted so much better. I took over making them, but only one daughter out of there learned how to make them. I did get inspired by the young lady who was baking bread that somehow reminded me what I have been missing. • My problem was always the yeast. When they say lukewarm water, that won’t do it. I bloom the yeast even when they say to throw it in with the rest of the ingredients. Make sure the water or milk is between 110 and 115 degrees, that feels very hot to take a bath in. That is almost 1 minute in the microwave and of course it needs a little sugar mixed in too. It gets super foamy. Now I make the best bread, cinnamon bread/buns and rolls. Took til age 78 to get it right but these videos make it so easy. Thank you

  • Hi from New zealand. I have taught myself to make bread and I am always looking to see how I can improve my technique. It took me a while to use the proper way to knead the dough and not having big hands I found it a bit difficult but I found as long as I stretched the dough as I kneaded it didn't matter so much, but the correct technique is much easier on your hands. This is the first time I have seen the proper way to prepare the dough after the first rising and I think this is what makes all the difference in making a good crumb. Thank you so much I really appreciate it.

  • Hello Sheri, I used to make bread when my kids were little. I would make five loaves and a pan of cinnamon rolls with my Bosch. Yes bread dough was overflowing! I used my mother-in-laws recipe of two thirds hard white wheat and a third all purpose or bread flour. I have not made bread in a long time. Now I am regretting not finding your recipe earlier! It is so delicious! I made it last night and my husband said “ Wow this is really good bread.” I took one loaf and rolled it out 6 inches by 12 inches sprinkled 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 Tablespoon cinnamon and rolled it up to make a cinnamon bread loaf. It turned out so yummy. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes! Can’t wait to try them all.
