  • Hi, I am in South Africa, We had some terrible rioting and violence in the last week. There was no shops open, there was no bread at all anywhere. I usually only make novalty cakes at home part time but when this whole bread shortage happened. I googled how to make home made bread and was very glad that I found your recipe. I was working from home and in between was making bread for people who needed bread. I only have 1 oven as well. I tried making your bread recipe after work on the tuesday and then I asked my sister and my hubby to help me on Wednesday, so on Wednesday my sisters came over, So my 2 sisters and my hubby was making bread. They was calling me lots of time to the kitchen to check on this and that just to confirm because none of them bake anything at all. So that's how we was providing bread to the community. The order's was pouring in and the demand was getting higher. I was glad I found your recipe because i could make 4 loaves at a time. neighbours and family nearby lent me loaf tins as well. The Bread was coming out so lovely. Thank you so so much for your well instructed recipe. God bless you. Glad the shops are open now and the bread is back on the shelves.

  • Growing up with absent parents has been harder as I’ve gone on to have little ones of my own and I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for sharing this with the world. I’ve come back to this video as well as your other cooking videos to see how a Mom would teach their daughters/sons to make different things. Many nights my sisters and I spent going to bed hungry as little kids and I had prayed for a mother figure one day to show me how to cook for my own babies one day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It was awful trying to make the crust. As I worked on it I was crying n the tears went into the bowl. Finally I got the crust into the pie plate n the apple n put the upper crust on. I've seen other videos where the dough was allowed to rise, then kneaded, three times before going in the oven(3 hour process) so I'm betting that the bread is delicious! I agree with the other commenters - Your warmth and kindness comes through in the videos!

  • You can add one more to the world of bread making. Saw this a while back when I was searching for how to make bread videos and chose this one. Being a single male I do very little baking. I cut the recipe in half. So got through the mixing onto the kneading but not sure I kneaded it long enough. Punched the dough down after the first rise and I can't seem to form a loaf very well but got it to resemble a loaf, sort of. For some reason it took forever to rise in the pans(I proofed the yeast, used 1 packet) but maybe due to being around 68F in the house. Should maybe have warmed the oven slightly and put it in there to rise. Got them baked and even though they were a little dense but they came out decent and even tasted pretty good. I guess practice makes perfect, Thanks for the video, it helped me finally make my first homemade loaves of bread.

I then divide into 4 pieces. Just make into a ball and roll it back and forth, it will begin to form a loaf. Place in the oven with the light on and it takes about 20 minutes to rise turn your oven on to 350 and bake for 30 minutes. FYI the bread freezes very well. Hope this helps.

The bread winner in the family is only Dad and my Mom stays home to raise us. She had TONS of flowers such as orchids to share and sell them to mitigate little earnings for rice and fish. I came here 32 years ago, and this time being in shelter and place, or stay home till this pandemic is over since I have been furlough from work, I am encourage through your video that it was NOT hard to make bread at all. I will try this on my stay home in place situation. Thank you so much Jennifer. You are very encouraging, great lady and makes me feel, I can do this. • Not sure where you live but here bread is like two bucks for a five pound bag salts like a buck oil is three bucks yeast is about two bucks butter and shortening being 3 to 4 bucks each but you can buy half box butter or margarine or a small can of shortening and you don't use all these ingredients at once so really those four loaves of bread probably cost a few bucks so it's cheaper here in the long run to bake it home made rather then store baught cause you still have ingredients left over to make more later on.

  • I watched this video of yours today, twice. Just now ordered your digital cook book and waiting on the download. Thank you so much! A lot of these skills were not taught to me but I learn on my own to teach my children. This will help!

  • I just want to say thank you for sharing your bread recipe, I'm 68 years old and now live alone,, truly trying to save money as best I can. I can & preserve all my own food But my bread recipe definitely needed some fine tuning. You have a very gentle and sweet spirit, a very lovely God-fearing woman. We are living in difficult times, but the reassurance of knowing God's plan is the ultimate refuge. I thank him daily for the very simplest of things, mom always said to give blessings for the bad as well as the good, sometimes it's the bad things that bring us tremendous strength And a closer understanding of his love.
