  • Used to work at a hardware store as a kid and this brings me back. Lots of key cutting, pipe cutting, pipe fitting and digging through serv-a-lite boxes with countless specialty nuts and bolts helping local folks find that perfect part for their projects. Great find!

    • Same here! I was with a little Ace Hardware in Westampton NJ, long gone now Home Depot and Lowes moved in back in 2000 and shut it down 2 years later.. I worked there through the late 90s until they closed. I can't tell you how man wheel barrows I've put together or how many cans of paint I mixed by hand or how many keys I've cut. I was 18 at the time and I learned SO much from the 2 old guys who lived there (they worked 7 days a week there) Such good memories, I became a handyman on the side as a grownup from what I learned at Ace. So cool! Man I learned how to operate a forklift, he had a little one there, the memories are flooding back!

    • My brother started at a small hardware shop, shortly after he graduated college. Owner decided to retire, his kids didn't want it, so the store closed, and he went to Home Depot. Still very close to a bunch of the local colleges and a *lot* of apartment complexes. We* have never had those "do not duplicate" keys, but that didn't stop apartment landlords/college dorm maintenance from needing literally 75-100 keys at a go, every 3-4 months, like clockwork, when they changed locks with semester changes. When we got those automated machines in, my brother supposedly held the rep's briefcase hostage to keep the manual cutter, because he knew the automated ones would *not* be fast enough for the amount of keys he sometimes needed to cut in a day. Surprisingly, it worked--we had that manual machine until the store just couldn't get parts for it. (*Same store, different departments, lol. Good place to work!)

  • Ah, the memories of working in a small mom and pop hardware store. I mixed the paint and ran the cash register. There were no big box stores anywhere near, so this was the go-to place for seeds and garden supplies, tools of all kinds, chains, and locks. Small town and everyone knew you or was related somehow. And you could order parts for your vehicle or farm equipment. We always had cold ice water available and hot coffee. It sat right on Main Street. I swear that building had been there since the 1900's.

Also we have that same exact paint mixing equipment, and red devil paint shaker. I don’t know what someone did to that poor paint shaker, but I can tell you the original base is missing, and the paint can flew out because it’s put together wrong. The clamps are supposed to cradle the paint cans sideways not vertically.

This Beautiful truck these guys are loaning you reminds me a lot of the one I had. This truck will be a great addition to your future videos and add a lot of great content to the channel. Keep doing what you do best brother, its working.

  • My mom's from Cali and moved to the Netherlands in her twenties where I grew up. She took me to the states a couple times and bought me my first machined catapult there, in a hardware store like this. I can smell the oils and paint just looking at this. What a vibe. I'm 32 now, hope these aren't all gone by the time I make it back to the states. Awesome video, the truck, the Camaro, the store, the owner with Trump's accent haha, takes me right back to the 90s!

Walked up to me yesterday and gave it to me for free to open my dream Woods small engine repairs and lawncare and thank you for not being selfish and giving back I really wanted that building and I'm glad my business over there was successful enough to have the REMS owner put me on payroll and say it's all yours since the community support you. Now to get signs

Mind you this is interior Alaska.... couple weeks ago went to fire it up after the long winter and wouldn't you know.... Fuel pump crapped out again 😂 Chinese pump in a Chinese atv.
