What I’d like to see is pokemon making the world more dynamic. Like seeing a group of Rapidash running through a field, or a massive Wailord breaching every now and then. I think it would really connect the pokemon to the world and bring it to life.

Agreed, my problem with this game is that it seems open world for the sake of being open world. The Pokémon just walk around doing nothing, not acting like actual animals. Just walking around, meandering. Also there doesn’t seem to be anything to actually DO in the world, they show us all these ways to travel, (Riding, flying, swimming) but you don’t really seem to interact with the environment. I’m still not impressed.

Best. Pokemon. Game. Ever. Good lore, decent story, shows how the origins of certain characters and important areas in Platinum, innovative playstyle (for the franchise), increased difficulty compared to the other titles, challenging final boss battles, amazing The only thing it missed was a truly open-world map and some voice acting. You cannot expect to 'innovate' to the point things are so radically different, it loses all the simplistic Pokémon charm or even ceases to be a 'mainline' Pokémon adventure game at all. @Government is Violence Honestly, the trailer doesn't impress me. It's an open world and that's very nice, but it doesn't show the reason why. If you do an open world, you should have things to find and to see in the environment, and the world should feel alive. All we can see in the trailer are the Pokemon walking around and some "boss" Pokemon thing, it needs more than that. Games like BotW and Genshin Impact are fun because there's a lot of things to find out in the open, the world feels alive. I really hope this game is as good as BotW, but I just can't get hyped by what I'm seeing right now, an open world by itself just isn't enough.

@Government is Violence Did you see BotW's trailer? The one released in June 2016, 9 months before the release. There's A LOT more content shown there than this, and here they have only about 5 months for the release I think. Did you see Genshin's trailer? The one released in June 2019, more than a year before the release. There's a lot more content shown there as well. If there really are a lot more things to do (I really hope that's the case), this trailer did a terrible job. Unfortunately it's very likely that the content really is limited, that's what happens most of the time.

Exactly how i felt, direction is going good but still feels like a ps3 in the age of ps5’s in terms of advancements in development design quality. Hopefully we get some breath of the wild quality or better development on one of their biggest ips!

I'm scared this is just going to be "open world" with 0 happening in that world. A glorified wild area. From these images it looks like there's nothing to do beyond catching and battling pokemon. I hope there's some side quests that I'll find while traversing and not just the main story.

I mean it shows what the main thing is to do: Make the Pokedex. It not just catch it once and everything auto recorded. We have to go out and find difference in gender, food, what moves it use, and you even get sidequest from NPC in towns to find out certain things.

My biggest complaint is the design and environments. It’s very minimal. The Pokémon just never look natural in their environment they always look awkward. Like they were placed there. More trees, rocks, clutter is definitely needed. Plus mini games/side activities and this could be amazing. Solid foundation though and interesting new mechanics.

All we can see and interact are Pokemon, there doesn't seem to be anything impressive in the horizon that would make the player want to go there. I thought it would be in development for waaaaaay longer. Its already looking much better than the pre-alpha footage we first saw, but man, i fear that we will get a half finished product that they are being forced to ship out due to time constraints, and the game will suffer for it, but its still looking solid in concept.

Without a doubt they wanna rush it out in January, so they can release a new generation by the end of 2022 to keep the hype cycle going and the profits flowing. The thing is, Pokémon has gotten way to big for it’s own good. The games only make up a small percent of the total profits, however the Anime and Merchandising are all reliant on new games coming out every few years so they can make people excited for their products. That’s why there was no Pokémon Z, that’s why Sword and Shield was so underwhelming and if Legends Arceus turns out to be bad, then this will be the reason. I think the lion’s share of the blame here is on the Pokémon Company, however GameFreak refusing to significantly increase their team certainly isn’t helping.

@@toast9965 For me personally, it doesn't need gyms or trainers. It just needs challenges that gyms are supposed to offer. I would like for TPC to explore other parts of the Pokemon world in the mainline games. Gym battles are seen as staple for Pokemon, but Gym battles aren't everywhere as seen in the Alola Region. The Pokemon world consists of breeders, researchers, athletes, rangers, gangs. I want the games to deviate from the collect 8 badges and fight trainers along the way just a bit. Pokemon are even used in the Police force. I would love to see more of this Survey Corps. Plus, this game seems set in the past. I am not sure gym or trainer battles existed yet. I am also curious what is the full extent of the gameplay. I hope there is more as well.

The music in this trailer really sells the wonder and mysticism of the untamed Hisui, as well as the tension of the incident plaguing it. And the dramatic section with the Ride Pokemon really sold both the nobility of the ride companions and the wonder one must have felt riding them. It's like a scene of riding a dragon through the sky; majestic and amazing.

It looks good; however, i feel like there's an emptiness to it for some reason...as if the Pokemon seem to be displaced in such a massive open world. It's too open from what I'm seeing here. Hopefully they fill out the landscape more. The towns could use some more "flare" to them as well. Otherwise, the graphics are beautiful, and i love the amount of interaction you can have with the Pokemon!

I'm excited for this, although I agree with the comments on this that the Pokémon look a bit out of place just standing around. That being said, this might not be the ultimate form of Pokémon you all want, and I know personally that that's disappointing, but please, if you think it is a step in the right direction and you have the money, buy it. If we want open world Pokémon, we need to tell Gamefreak and the Pokémon Company that we like them branching out in this direction and maybe one day we'll get that ultimate Pokémon you've been dreaming of. The regular titles will likely always sell in abundance, so voting on those with your money makes no real difference in the end. Sw&Sh were lackluster on many levels, but still sold a ton due to loyal fans, parents buying it for their kids, etc. Voting with your money on Legends Arceus might actually make a difference on the future of Pokémon.

As someone born in the 90's, I've been playing Pokemon since it first came out. But after growing older and leaving middle school I kind of just stopped playing. I tried to get back into it on the 3DS but it just felt too samey and it wasn't as fun without my older sister and friends from school. But this looks cool. It's looks like a Pokemon game that I've always wanted to try. I will say it does look a bit empty sometimes but I'll forgive that if it runs smoothly.

I'm so worried about that. Most open world games have small villages or stand alone homes with side quests along your path through the main story. This just looks like a basic Pokemon game with empty wilderness in between your next town.

The homages this plays to Gen 2 Pokemon is so nostalgic, I mean, the "ancient" pokeballs, just from that alone, I think this will be a great game to play. And if I'm being honest, we might get some backstory of how Pokeballs work, like the Jewel of Arceus, was used to develop the first pokeball or something, that would be something to be excited about

Yeah, I have always dreamed of a Pokémon game like this one. They could polish and improve a lot about Legends Arceus, I'm sure of it, It's the first of their kind. This could be really awesome and I think they intend to do it. I mean the name of the game have 2 parts implying that a Pokémon Legends Mewtwo, Pokémon Legends Rayquaza or something on that line could be a reality and the game could take place on any Era.

They've retread Kanto so often I've tired of it. No, instead of stepping back at the older generations all the time they NEED to improve and move forward. Going back's just going to make them get complacent and think they can release the same game only with improved graphics again and again.

seems like gen 1 was the original pokemon when it came out in the 1990s. But what is Red, Blue, Yellow and Green you have with Gen 1?

Red and Blue were the first gen games in North America, but in Japan it was Red and Green, with Yellow just being a promotional release for the anime. The rest of the gens have either two or three games each, with the third having extra content (except for 7th and 8th gen, which had four games; the two original releases, as well as a later rerelease for both games). Gen 5 is a little weird because it has a sequel instead of a rerelease, but it serves the same purpose, so I'd count it as one myself

that cell shading at the end around 3:28 just looks so much better than anything else in the game. it might require some more complex shader work, but man would it pay off to see all pokemon like that, makes them look so much closer to their 2d art.

definitely a step in the right direction and im excited. hopefully the pokemon will have more detail/texture, especially since theyre the most important part of the game. they just look way too smooth here but they still got some time to improve them. besides that i think this will be a really fun game. glad theyre doing something different, pokemons been needing to change it up for a while now

The crafting mechanic as detailed on the website is promising, and so is riding pokemon. i hope that learning a pokemon’s patterns and behavior will actually be a challenging puzzle and not a question of just battling and catching them. This looks better than before but the mons will have to do something more interesting than walk around to really be immersive.

I wish that we could have the whole view when we are walking through the world and only if you approach a pokemon and get into a battle that we can use the pokeballs. And that the inventory/menu just appears if you click a certain button like the previous games before. Would add much more ambience while you are adventuring the world, in my opinion tho.

@@giovalladares1022 BoTW - which had way better graphics on a way bigger scale on WiiU btw - has a mostly realistic open world. Even "empty" places give you interesting detail, overgrown ruins, hidden items and koroks, viewpoint locations, and of course loot. The world feels organic and can be interacted with. This trailer here looks like a kid plopped some trees into the WC3 world editor. I mean for pete's sake, how did they look at 1:41 and thought "yeah that looks good, put it in the trailer". BoTW looks like that when bullet time bouncing and the world hasn't loaded in yet.

This kind of concept is already great on its own, but for future adaptations of these kind of ideas they can give us pokken tournament style combat to give battling a little less linear feel maybe? I personally always felt restricted by the combat style of pokemon, as a huge fan of the anime. Finger crossed we get an open world pokemon game with pokken style combat.

What I want from pokemon is to bring out the natural characteristics of all the pokemon.I want every or majority of them have their own habitats and each have their unique style of appearing criteria in the world..This makes catching the pokemon you love a quest and more challenging.Also you will learn to appreciate the caught pokemon more because of the challenge. Normal pokemon should be easily caught. Rare a little more difficult. Elite, mythic and legendaries should have their own level of difficulty. Every pokemon has its own story.. We have read about them in pokedex, wiki and trading cards etc., Just bring those stories to life. That in my opinion would be the ultimate game.

What I’d like to see is pokemon making the world more dynamic. Like seeing a group of Rapidash running through a field, or a massive Wailord breaching every now and then. I think it would really connect the pokemon to the world and bring it to life.
Agreed, my problem with this game is that it seems open world for the sake of being open world. The Pokémon just walk around doing nothing, not acting like actual animals. Just walking around, meandering. Also there doesn’t seem to be anything to actually DO in the world, they show us all these ways to travel, (Riding, flying, swimming) but you don’t really seem to interact with the environment. I’m still not impressed.

If you do an open world, you should have things to find and to see in the environment, and the world should feel alive. All we can see in the trailer are the Pokemon walking around and some "boss" Pokemon thing, it needs more than that. Games like BotW and Genshin Impact are fun because there's a lot of things to find out in the open, the world feels alive. I really hope this game is as good as BotW, but I just can't get hyped by what I'm seeing right now, an open world by itself just isn't enough.
@Government is Violence Did you see BotW's trailer? The one released in June 2016, 9 months before the release. There's A LOT more content shown there than this, and here they have only about 5 months for the release I think. Did you see Genshin's trailer? The one released in June 2019, more than a year before the release. There's a lot more content shown there as well. If there really are a lot more things to do (I really hope that's the case), this trailer did a terrible job. Unfortunately it's very likely that the content really is limited, that's what happens most of the time.

Exactly how i felt, direction is going good but still feels like a ps3 in the age of ps5’s in terms of advancements in development design quality. Hopefully we get some breath of the wild quality or better development on one of their biggest ips!

Any new Pokemon game that comes out in the future have the potential to be the best Pokemon game ever made
I'm scared this is just going to be "open world" with 0 happening in that world. A glorified wild area. From these images it looks like there's nothing to do beyond catching and battling pokemon. I hope there's some side quests that I'll find while traversing and not just the main story.
I mean it shows what the main thing is to do: Make the Pokedex. It not just catch it once and everything auto recorded. We have to go out and find difference in gender, food, what moves it use, and you even get sidequest from NPC in towns to find out certain things.
This is gamefreak we're talking about. Don't aexpect anything more than what is shown, lmao. Unless they explicity reveal something, don't have your hopes up for "bonus features" or things we think are necessary. Basically be prepared for disappointment, lol.

My biggest complaint is the design and environments. It’s very minimal. The Pokémon just never look natural in their environment they always look awkward. Like they were placed there. More trees, rocks, clutter is definitely needed. Plus mini games/side activities and this could be amazing. Solid foundation though and interesting new mechanics.

All we can see and interact are Pokemon, there doesn't seem to be anything impressive in the horizon that would make the player want to go there. That's why I'm worried, it's an open world but seems to lack almost all the things that make an open world interesting

It’s really a shame that so many people were put off by how low the graphics quality is… this game turned out to be one of the best in the entire franchise
I thought it would be in development for waaaaaay longer. Its already looking much better than the pre-alpha footage we first saw, but man, i fear that we will get a half finished product that they are being forced to ship out due to time constraints, and the game will suffer for it, but its still looking solid in concept.
Without a doubt they wanna rush it out in January, so they can release a new generation by the end of 2022 to keep the hype cycle going and the profits flowing. The thing is, Pokémon has gotten way to big for it’s own good. The games only make up a small percent of the total profits, however the Anime and Merchandising are all reliant on new games coming out every few years so they can make people excited for their products. That’s why there was no Pokémon Z, that’s why Sword and Shield was so underwhelming and if Legends Arceus turns out to be bad, then this will be the reason. I think the lion’s share of the blame here is on the Pokémon Company, however GameFreak refusing to significantly increase their team certainly isn’t helping.

@@DiskusGames there's no way they're going to release gen 9 next year. It's safe to say it's in the concept phases for now/extremely early development because they've been working on legends for a long time, not to mention sw&sh took 3 years. So I feel like 2023/2024 at the latest.
Isn't that Gamefreak's staple though? Tbh I feel most of the latest entries are unfinished games. And the terrible optimization is a total joke, still haven't got over that model thing going on with Sword/Shield. The bad part is that people keep buying them regardless, so its not like they're going to stop with that anytime soon.

@@toast9965 For me personally, it doesn't need gyms or trainers. It just needs challenges that gyms are supposed to offer. I would like for TPC to explore other parts of the Pokemon world in the mainline games. Gym battles are seen as staple for Pokemon, but Gym battles aren't everywhere as seen in the Alola Region. The Pokemon world consists of breeders, researchers, athletes, rangers, gangs. I want the games to deviate from the collect 8 badges and fight trainers along the way just a bit. Pokemon are even used in the Police force. I would love to see more of this Survey Corps. Plus, this game seems set in the past. I am not sure gym or trainer battles existed yet. I am also curious what is the full extent of the gameplay. I hope there is more as well.

This game was the best Pokemon game I ever played. I remember finishing it at 100% was so fun unlike other pokemon games where completing the pokedex isn’t that fun

This game is a triumph, not only for pokemon but for gaming.
The music in this trailer really sells the wonder and mysticism of the untamed Hisui, as well as the tension of the incident plaguing it. And the dramatic section with the Ride Pokemon really sold both the nobility of the ride companions and the wonder one must have felt riding them. It's like a scene of riding a dragon through the sky; majestic and amazing.
SO happy pokemon is taking this direction. Even if this one isn’t fully fleshed out, this could inspire the pokemon team to continue making games like this in the future that are much more fleshed out. It’s an exciting first step, and looks incredible, even with its minor issues (ones I can see right now anyways)
It looks good; however, i feel like there's an emptiness to it for some reason...as if the Pokemon seem to be displaced in such a massive open world. It's too open from what I'm seeing here. Hopefully they fill out the landscape more. The towns could use some more "flare" to them as well. Otherwise, the graphics are beautiful, and i love the amount of interaction you can have with the Pokemon!
They're ancient villages so I don't think it'd make sense for them to be too opulent. Give it some rustic flair but keep it realistic and grounded.

I'm excited for this, although I agree with the comments on this that the Pokémon look a bit out of place just standing around. That being said, this might not be the ultimate form of Pokémon you all want, and I know personally that that's disappointing, but please, if you think it is a step in the right direction and you have the money, buy it. If we want open world Pokémon, we need to tell Gamefreak and the Pokémon Company that we like them branching out in this direction and maybe one day we'll get that ultimate Pokémon you've been dreaming of. The regular titles will likely always sell in abundance, so voting on those with your money makes no real difference in the end. Sw&Sh were lackluster on many levels, but still sold a ton due to loyal fans, parents buying it for their kids, etc. Voting with your money on Legends Arceus might actually make a difference on the future of Pokémon.

As someone born in the 90's, I've been playing Pokemon since it first came out. But after growing older and leaving middle school I kind of just stopped playing. I tried to get back into it on the 3DS but it just felt too samey and it wasn't as fun without my older sister and friends from school. But this looks cool. It's looks like a Pokemon game that I've always wanted to try. I will say it does look a bit empty sometimes but I'll forgive that if it runs smoothly.
They should go more for a simple art design with barely any textures but with very good render distance and shading instead of whatever they're doing

Though this is based on frontier era. There's only a handful of towns, no big cities and your task is to conduct wildlife surveys.

I'm so worried about that. Most open world games have small villages or stand alone homes with side quests along your path through the main story. This just looks like a basic Pokemon game with empty wilderness in between your next town.

The homages this plays to Gen 2 Pokemon is so nostalgic, I mean, the "ancient" pokeballs, just from that alone, I think this will be a great game to play. And if I'm being honest, we might get some backstory of how Pokeballs work, like the Jewel of Arceus, was used to develop the first pokeball or something, that would be something to be excited about
After playing this game I have to say it’s the best Pokémon game ever made. Possibly one of the best switch games too. The experience was really a dream come true

Yeah, I have always dreamed of a Pokémon game like this one. They could polish and improve a lot about Legends Arceus, I'm sure of it, It's the first of their kind. This could be really awesome and I think they intend to do it. I mean the name of the game have 2 parts implying that a Pokémon Legends Mewtwo, Pokémon Legends Rayquaza or something on that line could be a reality and the game could take place on any Era.
They've retread Kanto so often I've tired of it. No, instead of stepping back at the older generations all the time they NEED to improve and move forward. Going back's just going to make them get complacent and think they can release the same game only with improved graphics again and again.

Red and Blue were the first gen games in North America, but in Japan it was Red and Green, with Yellow just being a promotional release for the anime. The rest of the gens have either two or three games each, with the third having extra content (except for 7th and 8th gen, which had four games; the two original releases, as well as a later rerelease for both games). Gen 5 is a little weird because it has a sequel instead of a rerelease, but it serves the same purpose, so I'd count it as one myself

that cell shading at the end around 3:28 just looks so much better than anything else in the game. it might require some more complex shader work, but man would it pay off to see all pokemon like that, makes them look so much closer to their 2d art.
This is already so much more than I was expecting. Super hyped to play this. Looks way better than it did the time before. Hopefully they can push back the release and give it the time it needs. Maybe even like late 2022 if it needs that long.

The crafting mechanic as detailed on the website is promising, and so is riding pokemon. i hope that learning a pokemon’s patterns and behavior will actually be a challenging puzzle and not a question of just battling and catching them. This looks better than before but the mons will have to do something more interesting than walk around to really be immersive.

I wish that we could have the whole view when we are walking through the world and only if you approach a pokemon and get into a battle that we can use the pokeballs. And that the inventory/menu just appears if you click a certain button like the previous games before. Would add much more ambience while you are adventuring the world, in my opinion tho.

@@giovalladares1022 BoTW - which had way better graphics on a way bigger scale on WiiU btw - has a mostly realistic open world. Even "empty" places give you interesting detail, overgrown ruins, hidden items and koroks, viewpoint locations, and of course loot. The world feels organic and can be interacted with. This trailer here looks like a kid plopped some trees into the WC3 world editor. I mean for pete's sake, how did they look at 1:41 and thought "yeah that looks good, put it in the trailer". BoTW looks like that when bullet time bouncing and the world hasn't loaded in yet.

This kind of concept is already great on its own, but for future adaptations of these kind of ideas they can give us pokken tournament style combat to give battling a little less linear feel maybe? I personally always felt restricted by the combat style of pokemon, as a huge fan of the anime. Finger crossed we get an open world pokemon game with pokken style combat.

What I want from pokemon is to bring out the natural characteristics of all the pokemon.I want every or majority of them have their own habitats and each have their unique style of appearing criteria in the world..This makes catching the pokemon you love a quest and more challenging.Also you will learn to appreciate the caught pokemon more because of the challenge. Normal pokemon should be easily caught. Rare a little more difficult. Elite, mythic and legendaries should have their own level of difficulty. Every pokemon has its own story.. We have read about them in pokedex, wiki and trading cards etc., Just bring those stories to life. That in my opinion would be the ultimate game.
