I've never been so happy during an announcement for a game, the music was incredible and as it zoomed out to reveal Prism Tower it gave off like a "We heard you, here is the redemption for Kalos" type energy, and then with the Fletchling flying around like the opening and final scene of XY just gave me SO much Nostalgia. X and Y are what got me into Pokemon 10 years ago and has helped me through so much and to see them finally get the third game they needed makes me so happy. I'm not someone who cares about the quality of a game but I will say I'm happy Game Freak is taking a year off releasing a game this year if it means this will be one of the best games they've ever released and the perfect follow up to gen 6, but even still I'll play and enjoy being back in Kalos nonetheless. Thank you Game Freak and Pokemon for finally making Pokemon Z I still can't believe it!

If the “urban redevelopment plan” is similar to the Paris redevelopment plan in the 1800s we are looking at a timeline possibly set around the same time as Arceus. Curious about how this is going to work. A Kalos set game definitely came from nowhere. But makes sense considering how that Gen has been ignored since X/Y, didn’t even get a 3rd installment/sequel like the others. Regarding starters, I’d say it will be the Kalos trio, or else a combo of previous starters like Arceus did. Personally I’d like to see ya get a starter that isn’t a traditional starter, like Rioulu or Litleo or the elemental monkeys (who aren’t currently on the switch).

In retrospect, it's funny that when Scarlet and Violet first came out, there was speculation that there'd be some sorta connection to Kalos due to how close France and Spain are geographically, but a lot of that left as soon as Unova was mentioned in the DLC. Well, well, well

To be fair they didn't really tease Unova so much as the DLC location as it turned out Blueberry Academy was located in Unova so that's how they acknowledged it without making a whole game on it. It would have been nice but I feel like gamefreak is trying to avoid the obvious now seeing as Kalos is about the most unexpected region from the one's speculated on but also probably the most deserving of it considering the plans for "Z" fell apart for mysterious reasons still not known leaving Kalos to be real shortchanged out of the rest of the gens with no third entry and whatever it Zygarde was set to do scrapped and thrown into S/M for a bonus.

EVERYTHING WE KNOW (Cause this trailer tells us jack): -Architecture doesn't look ancient, so probably only set a few centuries before (or maybe after?) the modern games. -Ancestors/descendants of modern human characters may appear, though not confirmed. -Set in Lumiose AND LUMIOSE ONLY (don't ask me how one city is a big enough for an entire game) -Megas are back, presumably only for this game (And I would not expect all 48. What would Mega Ray be doing here for example? Possibly all OG Kalos Megas though, and some ORAS ones like Gallade.) -Zygarde will have some story involvement. Xerneas and Yveltal may too. -Zygarde is sure to have the signature moves and alternate forms it got in SM. -It may have you collect Zygarde cores and cells throughout the region, or at least incorporate them somehow. -No Terastalization/Z-Moves/Dynahax -AZ should be roaming around, and may have major story involvement -Eternal Flower Floette may finally be released. -The Kalos Mythicals will likely be obtainable in-game, probably with some sort of in-game event this time around. Hoopa and Diancie should also have their powered-up forms, which they lacked in XY. -Pokeball Pattern Vivillion may be made obtainable without an event. -Furfrou should be back, and with a trimmer, meaning getting all the forms on the Switch won't be hard anymore. -The Patrat line and the Unova monkeys were all in the XY Kalos Dex, so they might be here, meaning all Pokemon would be programmed into at least one Switch game. -Might get an explanation for the infamous ghost girl, and finally learn who "the one" is. -The full currently-known Pokemon roster is on the Bulbapedia page for this game. It seems to consist of all Kalos Pokemon, as well as a good number of the non-Kalos Pokemon that were in the XY regional dex. XY had the largest regional dex of any game to date though (not counting DLC), so I'd expect them to cut at least 100-200 out of XY's 454. -It's unknown if there will be any special battle mechanics (i.e. PLA Battle Styles), or if traditional ones (abilities, natures, evs, ivs, held items) will ALL be returning. -Expect a very limited move selection. Moves from newer gens may be especially rare. -Might get an "A" Legendary. -Starters could be anything. Another mix of starters from other regions (and not the PLA ones)? The normal Kalos trio? Anyone's guess. -Regional forms, new evolutions, and other stuff like that are possible, but not confirmed. Kalos introduced the smallest number of new Pokemon of any region (not counting Hisui), and this would be the perfect chance to add new ones. -Magearna may make an appearance, as it's not really native to Alola, and appeared in Kalos in the anime. If the game is set in the past, it might have its original paint. -As the description says, the only plot details we know involve transforming Lumiose into a human-Pokemon utopia. There's no conflict between the city's inhabitants in the present day, leading me to believe the game is set in the past. -On that note, the Pokemon Village, a Pokemon sanctuary from XY Kalos, may play role. There was a Mewtwo there in XY, but Mewtwo didn't exist centuries ago, so who knows what they're gonna do with that. -The release date will likely be January 2025, giving the games a chance to run their course and die down before what I'm assuming is going to be the Gen Ten announcement on Pokemon Day next year (with those games coming out in November 2025). -They're taking their time on this one, a little, so we might have better quality control than previous Switch entries.

Pokemon Z is happening after all!! I'm so happy! Especially if all the potential around the character of AZ is used, and if we get some answers regarding his immortal status... Maybe it's connected to Volo from Legends Arceus who appears to be immortal as well! "shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon" Isn't that true for every single city in the modern Pokemon world? So maybe that's a hint that it takes place in the past, before living alongside pokemons became the norm. It would make sense because Legends Arceus took place in the past too. Maybe AZ is the visionary who further helped to make it all happen! A timeline set in the old golden days of Paris could be very interesting culturally. This trailer still shows some futuristic scenes though... But maybe that was all in the urban architect's mind? Or maybe it's just the fact that the Pokemon world is more advanced than ours anyway.

It makes sense. At this point it's too late to just do Pokemon Z. So their options were a remake route (probably call it XZ and YZ) or a Legends route. and really they could STILL do remakes later if they really wanted. But if they keep doing remakes in order we're still a long way off from Gen 6 remakes. So this was the more immediate solution for addressing Pokemon Z.

The way it's presented seems like a fairly futuristic data model of the plan, so I feel like it's going to be some time in the future. Awesome! Please make it just as beautiful as Pokemon X and Y! I fell in love with its vibe, music, architecture, and landscaping. I wish it was a real place. The story could've been more developed, but the aesthetics evoked a sense of elegance & spirituality. Please try your best and don't mess it up! I’m actually quite worried about this game. In the initial Legends trailer, it told us what we were doing and that we’d have to venture across Hisui to do it. In this, all we have is Lumiose and that our goal is to help develop the city. We could very well be confined to just the city.

Anyone who wanted them are bandwagoner d-riders. 5th has trash lore (durrr original dragon hurrdurrrrrr). 6th gen is better because it has way better lore and Mega evolutions. And *we* wanted Pokemon Z for 10 years!

Game Freak and Pokémon you finally did it you managed too make a 30 year old man break down in tears with this. Not only is kalos coming back but megas too. I waited for what felt like years. The inner young adult in me is screaming. As of now you have officially redeemed yourselves much love too all the amazing staff. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart thank you. As soon as I saw prism tower I lost it, and the mega sound effect is what sent me over the edge. I loved mega evolution by far the coolest and best gimmick too date. I haven't been this excited for Pokémon since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. I honestly can't believe what I saw at first I genuinely thought I was dreaming. So I started pinching myself and needless to say I was awake and it was all real. I'm still in shock from this announcement. 😭

I don't know what surprises me more, that they trolled everyone who expected a new game in Johto or Unova because of the rumors or that the Switch is still alive and getting a main-line Pokémon in 2025. I just hope it goes well, it's the first time they've announced a game in the franchise with almost a year between the announcement and the release, this gives me hope that they're going to do something incredible this time without releasing anything rushed.

I mean, basing the whole game in a single city kind-off limits it's scope, as the Open World (if there is one) would be small and so would access to new Pokemon. @@sethawolfe you're right, the eifeltower was build around the 1800's inside a developing city-- legends Arceus seems to be based on 1800's Japan, so it's not a stretch to 'redevelop Lumiose city' in the same timeperiod as Arceus. It can both be in the same time period.

XY was actually super underrated IMHO had one of the best and yet unresolved plotlines of all of the games. i’m also super stoked for Z-A and i hope they close up some of those mysterious rando unfinished projects (rail station to nowhere, ghost girl shit, AZ & Floette arc, etc) that left my brain spinning for 10 years

Sadly I don’t think the power plant and the rail station to nowhere will be resolved, since it takes place entirely in Lumiose City, and since this likely takes place in the past when the city is becoming urbanized (the plans are likely for building it into the city we see today), the power plants likely weren’t built yet

It could likely be set at some point in the future based on the vibes of the video. I mean just compare the vibes of this trailer to PLA's first trailer. The vibes are completely different

The Japanese Pokémon website and Twitter account both just say that the adventure begins in Lumiose City, so I think it'll just be the "home base" area in PLZ-A like Jubilife Village in PLA and you'll expand outwards to other parts of Kalos as the story progresses.

Looking over the footage of the character models and how they’re dressed, I’d say this takes place in the not so distant future, not in the past. The only futuristic look to me is the “blueprint/envisioning” style of this video. It looks like modern Kalos to me. This teaser doesn’t tell us much. To me it felt like the “future vision” of what Kalos will become before it was urbanized/modernized. However I wonder how this will work because the only thing we got out of this teaser is “lumiose urban redevelopment plan”. Not sure what to expect?? Because it implies progression of some sort for the city to become closer and closer to the vision they have in mind for it. I wonder how they’d incorporate that into the gameplay?

It’s definitely the past, firstly the part that looks futuristic seems to look like blueprints. I’m pretty sure this takes place before lumiose city became modern. Possibly after the Great War, and the title seems to reference AZ who had a large impact on history

Or, it got pushed back due to nintendo pushing back the revised switch. Which would explain why it's in 2025 and why it says SIMULTANEOUSLY worldwide. Aka it released for both systems as a switch 2 launch title. If this is true and if the game is Amazing, it can be a big seller for the new switch as one game is optimized around the newer model while some elements are reduced in the older model like graphics or fps.

Latest rumors suggest Switch to is complete and likely in production. Nintendo is waiting for their remaining Switches to sell through and they want enough stock for a huge launch. Nintendo does Nintendo things and holding back the console to Q1 2025 just give their launch titles more time to polish. I am curious to see if this title is cross gen and if some of the existing pokemon titles get next gen updates (with or without a fee attached)

Awesome! I'm excited! I'm curious to see how this game will be similar to/different from Legends: Arceus. It's interesting that they didn't name this one directly after a legendary like they did in the last Legends game. Of course, Z probably stands for Zygarde, keeping the theme somewhat alive. But I don't see how "A" plays a part here, unless there's a fourth Gen 6 legendary that I didn't know existed/hasn't been introduced yet. Maybe there's an "A" form of Zygarde we'll be introduced to? Also, from looking at this trailer, it looks like we'll be seeing a Lumiose City that looks a lot like what those of us who played Gen 6 are familiar with. Does this mean Legends Z-A is not going to take place in the same time period as Legends Arceus? Perhaps the game will be set in a time closer to the present? Or maybe we'll be in the future, given the holographic images in this trailer. Either way, how will we get to this point in time, if this game isn't going to feature Arceus, Dialga, or Celebi? As far as I'm aware, there's no Pokemon with time-travelling/manipulating powers in X and Y.

@72I would not say that Blueberry Academy counts as "Unova Content". Yes, it takes place in Unova and has references but it is no where near equivalent to this new Legends game. I do expect to see BW remakes in the near future anyway though. You are comparing a brand new Switch game that takes place in Kalos and expands heavily on the lore vs a DLC with some Unova references.

I don’t think this game is set entirely in Lumiose city’s. IMO it’s looking to be something closer to what some of us thought Legends arceus was gonna be, a town that grows as you get stronger. There’s a bit of en emphasis around the 5 circles that sprout from the center one. Maybe they act as fast travel platforms? Maybe there’s another play on time where we travel and and forth from the past and future? Either way it’s looking like they’re doing something different and that’s always welcome in Pokémon.

This is during this time the Eiffel Tower and so many buildings were built. It’s a period of great advancements in technology, new discoveries every day,… It’s also a period of great turmoils with wars especially against Germany, smt intersting to with that even if Germany doesn’t exist yet as a Pokemon region.

Ruby was my first game because my uncle owned it, but X was my first owned Pokémon game so I love kalos dearly. It’s crazy to think of how we all thought Pokémon Z would either never see the light of day or be super far into the future. This also gives the Kalos starters a chance to finally have megas plus new ones

Mad congrats to game freak for not a single leak. Cant wait for this game it looks awesome, and im glad theyre taking more time to refine games. Also can we just talk about how well this was executed, remember pre dlc s/v everyone thought we were getting something kalos next then the teal mask released and suddenly everyones looking at unova/johto then the paradox swords/beasts only enhanced the intense glaring at gen 2/5. So they predicted that most people would think its kalos next and made us look elsewhere, just to make all the kalos evidence (kalos legends not in sv, paldea right next to kalos, kalos blacked out on the paldea map, the tera and mega stone similarities) resurface with this vid. my hype for this is crazy i'm so glad they're giving it more time in the oven than previous games. legends arceus was the first pokemon game i've TRULY enjoyed in years, and pokemon x was my first pokemon game ever with some of my favorite designs. and the fact they skipped unova and johto to give kalos some love early? i'm just thrilled.

Pokemon XY was the first & only game ive gone to gamestop for first thing in the morning for the release. I was in highschool & went with my bestfriend at the time, his dad took us. Im now 26 with a 3 year old, that person & I arent friends anymore but my god what a bittersweet thing this is. I cant wait!!

I'm really excited for AZ I've wanted to play y forever but I've never had the money to buy the equipment but even tho I've never played it zygarde has always been my top favorite pokemon and the megas coming back is peak hype I wonder if there will be a thing were some Pokemon used to have megas fresh after the war but slowly evolved out of them and some Pokemon kinda like ash Greninja where they at some point gained the ability to mega evolve through years and years of evolution I'm also wondering if through some means whether be from human intervention or some sort of unification process that ultra necrozma will return which would be so epic and I think it would be cool if we saw how zygarde tried to help the recovering ecosystem after the initial blast and we'll also get to possibly finally catch eternal flower floet

the Nintendo of America account tweeted it takes place exclusively in Lumiose City, on one hand that might be a translation error, but if this is the next step on Pokemon entering the open world genre an open world city game has got me exicited. I wonder if Alphas will return or if the new gimmick will be random wild megas? Will space time distortions still exist and if so will we see glimpses of the future city we're helping to develop? The A in the logo is different from Zygardes Z, will we be getting a new legendary who's name starts with A? I'm excited to see what lessons game freak has taken from PLA & S/V to put towards this game.

I've never been so happy during an announcement for a game, the music was incredible and as it zoomed out to reveal Prism Tower it gave off like a "We heard you, here is the redemption for Kalos" type energy, and then with the Fletchling flying around like the opening and final scene of XY just gave me SO much Nostalgia. X and Y are what got me into Pokemon 10 years ago and has helped me through so much and to see them finally get the third game they needed makes me so happy. I'm not someone who cares about the quality of a game but I will say I'm happy Game Freak is taking a year off releasing a game this year if it means this will be one of the best games they've ever released and the perfect follow up to gen 6, but even still I'll play and enjoy being back in Kalos nonetheless. Thank you Game Freak and Pokemon for finally making Pokemon Z I still can't believe it!

If the “urban redevelopment plan” is similar to the Paris redevelopment plan in the 1800s we are looking at a timeline possibly set around the same time as Arceus. Curious about how this is going to work. A Kalos set game definitely came from nowhere. But makes sense considering how that Gen has been ignored since X/Y, didn’t even get a 3rd installment/sequel like the others. Regarding starters, I’d say it will be the Kalos trio, or else a combo of previous starters like Arceus did. Personally I’d like to see ya get a starter that isn’t a traditional starter, like Rioulu or Litleo or the elemental monkeys (who aren’t currently on the switch).

In retrospect, it's funny that when Scarlet and Violet first came out, there was speculation that there'd be some sorta connection to Kalos due to how close France and Spain are geographically, but a lot of that left as soon as Unova was mentioned in the DLC. Well, well, well
To be fair they didn't really tease Unova so much as the DLC location as it turned out Blueberry Academy was located in Unova so that's how they acknowledged it without making a whole game on it. It would have been nice but I feel like gamefreak is trying to avoid the obvious now seeing as Kalos is about the most unexpected region from the one's speculated on but also probably the most deserving of it considering the plans for "Z" fell apart for mysterious reasons still not known leaving Kalos to be real shortchanged out of the rest of the gens with no third entry and whatever it Zygarde was set to do scrapped and thrown into S/M for a bonus.

EVERYTHING WE KNOW (Cause this trailer tells us jack): -Architecture doesn't look ancient, so probably only set a few centuries before (or maybe after?) the modern games. -Ancestors/descendants of modern human characters may appear, though not confirmed. -Set in Lumiose AND LUMIOSE ONLY (don't ask me how one city is a big enough for an entire game) -Megas are back, presumably only for this game (And I would not expect all 48. What would Mega Ray be doing here for example? Possibly all OG Kalos Megas though, and some ORAS ones like Gallade.) -Zygarde will have some story involvement. Xerneas and Yveltal may too. -Zygarde is sure to have the signature moves and alternate forms it got in SM. -It may have you collect Zygarde cores and cells throughout the region, or at least incorporate them somehow. -No Terastalization/Z-Moves/Dynahax -AZ should be roaming around, and may have major story involvement -Eternal Flower Floette may finally be released. -The Kalos Mythicals will likely be obtainable in-game, probably with some sort of in-game event this time around. Hoopa and Diancie should also have their powered-up forms, which they lacked in XY. -Pokeball Pattern Vivillion may be made obtainable without an event. -Furfrou should be back, and with a trimmer, meaning getting all the forms on the Switch won't be hard anymore. -The Patrat line and the Unova monkeys were all in the XY Kalos Dex, so they might be here, meaning all Pokemon would be programmed into at least one Switch game. -Might get an explanation for the infamous ghost girl, and finally learn who "the one" is. -The full currently-known Pokemon roster is on the Bulbapedia page for this game. It seems to consist of all Kalos Pokemon, as well as a good number of the non-Kalos Pokemon that were in the XY regional dex. XY had the largest regional dex of any game to date though (not counting DLC), so I'd expect them to cut at least 100-200 out of XY's 454. -It's unknown if there will be any special battle mechanics (i.e. PLA Battle Styles), or if traditional ones (abilities, natures, evs, ivs, held items) will ALL be returning. -Expect a very limited move selection. Moves from newer gens may be especially rare. -Might get an "A" Legendary. -Starters could be anything. Another mix of starters from other regions (and not the PLA ones)? The normal Kalos trio? Anyone's guess. -Regional forms, new evolutions, and other stuff like that are possible, but not confirmed. Kalos introduced the smallest number of new Pokemon of any region (not counting Hisui), and this would be the perfect chance to add new ones. -Magearna may make an appearance, as it's not really native to Alola, and appeared in Kalos in the anime. If the game is set in the past, it might have its original paint. -As the description says, the only plot details we know involve transforming Lumiose into a human-Pokemon utopia. There's no conflict between the city's inhabitants in the present day, leading me to believe the game is set in the past. -On that note, the Pokemon Village, a Pokemon sanctuary from XY Kalos, may play role. There was a Mewtwo there in XY, but Mewtwo didn't exist centuries ago, so who knows what they're gonna do with that. -The release date will likely be January 2025, giving the games a chance to run their course and die down before what I'm assuming is going to be the Gen Ten announcement on Pokemon Day next year (with those games coming out in November 2025). -They're taking their time on this one, a little, so we might have better quality control than previous Switch entries.
I love the idea of just adding some normal pokemon to Kalos, not regional forms, not new members of old groups like Eternatus, just brand new non-legendary lines.

Pokemon Z is happening after all!! I'm so happy! Especially if all the potential around the character of AZ is used, and if we get some answers regarding his immortal status... Maybe it's connected to Volo from Legends Arceus who appears to be immortal as well! "shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon" Isn't that true for every single city in the modern Pokemon world? So maybe that's a hint that it takes place in the past, before living alongside pokemons became the norm. It would make sense because Legends Arceus took place in the past too. Maybe AZ is the visionary who further helped to make it all happen! A timeline set in the old golden days of Paris could be very interesting culturally. This trailer still shows some futuristic scenes though... But maybe that was all in the urban architect's mind? Or maybe it's just the fact that the Pokemon world is more advanced than ours anyway.

It makes sense. At this point it's too late to just do Pokemon Z. So their options were a remake route (probably call it XZ and YZ) or a Legends route. and really they could STILL do remakes later if they really wanted. But if they keep doing remakes in order we're still a long way off from Gen 6 remakes. So this was the more immediate solution for addressing Pokemon Z.

I'm excited for this one. Mega Evolution is my most favourite feature next to Omega Ruby's secret bases. Though, I am getting a bit burnt out from Playing Pokemon 24/7... 😅 Edit: I'm glad that the Nintendo 3.D.S lives on in legends.
I grew up with Pokémon X, so this is great news. Let's just hope that they make a decent game for once.
I like seeing people talking about if it's set in the past or near future. The idea of Urban redevelopment fits in the past, just like Paris(Lumiose is based on Paris) got its Haussmann renovation in late 1800s.
I'm thinking it's possible we may see the city through time. Like the past and the present. Z to A. Also maybe in the past it was part of AZ's kingdom.
The way it's presented seems like a fairly futuristic data model of the plan, so I feel like it's going to be some time in the future. Besides, there's not really a reason for Arceus to abduct another child to the distant past this time, since it's not His children being screwed with, and therefore not His problem.

I’m actually quite worried about this game. In the initial Legends trailer, it told us what we were doing and that we’d have to venture across Hisui to do it. In this, all we have is Lumiose and that our goal is to help develop the city. We could very well be confined to just the city.

i'm so excited for this! pokemon x is a game that i hold very near and dear to my heart, so getting more of kalos after all of these years is so amazing. i can't wait for more news and info about this game, and i'll be counting down the days until it finally drops in 2025. maybe an unpopular opinion, but i'm also hoping to at some point get a new let's go game set in johto; that would be pretty nice imo.

Anyone who wanted them are bandwagoner d-riders. 5th has trash lore (durrr original dragon hurrdurrrrrr). 6th gen is better because it has way better lore and Mega evolutions. And *we* wanted Pokemon Z for 10 years!
Game Freak and Pokémon you finally did it you managed too make a 30 year old man break down in tears with this. Not only is kalos coming back but megas too. I waited for what felt like years. The inner young adult in me is screaming. As of now you have officially redeemed yourselves much love too all the amazing staff. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart thank you. As soon as I saw prism tower I lost it, and the mega sound effect is what sent me over the edge. I loved mega evolution by far the coolest and best gimmick too date. I haven't been this excited for Pokémon since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. I honestly can't believe what I saw at first I genuinely thought I was dreaming. So I started pinching myself and needless to say I was awake and it was all real. I'm still in shock from this announcement. 😭

people are wearing more modern clothing in the trailer than the 3000 years ago war would suggest. i think it takes place in the near past, with lumiose only being rebuilt after the war relatively recently.
Im assuming its more of like an idea for a futuristic design, so its before the X and Y games, could be like how in the 1940's/1950's they thought of super futuristic ideas so who knows this trailer could be taken with a grain of salt until we get a gameplay reveal.@@uwuppa

A new Legends game that expands on Kalos and is taking a gap year before release? I'm actually genuinely excited for this.
I don't know what surprises me more, that they trolled everyone who expected a new game in Johto or Unova because of the rumors or that the Switch is still alive and getting a main-line Pokémon in 2025. I just hope it goes well, it's the first time they've announced a game in the franchise with almost a year between the announcement and the release, this gives me hope that they're going to do something incredible this time without releasing anything rushed.

I mean, basing the whole game in a single city kind-off limits it's scope, as the Open World (if there is one) would be small and so would access to new Pokemon. I mean, even if they make the city life-sized in the game, it still wouldn't be big enough for a game.

I think the timeline is probably in the past, before the construction of the ‘current Lumiose City’, at which people planned to develop the city into a modern city (the current one in XY).

@@sethawolfe you're right, the eifeltower was build around the 1800's inside a developing city-- legends Arceus seems to be based on 1800's Japan, so it's not a stretch to 'redevelop Lumiose city' in the same timeperiod as Arceus. It can both be in the same time period.

They aren't skipping Unova, Legends is not a remake. Usually there's 5-7 years between each remake, and BDSP released in 2021. It would be too early for a remake.

XY was actually super underrated IMHO had one of the best and yet unresolved plotlines of all of the games. i’m also super stoked for Z-A and i hope they close up some of those mysterious rando unfinished projects (rail station to nowhere, ghost girl shit, AZ & Floette arc, etc) that left my brain spinning for 10 years

Sadly I don’t think the power plant and the rail station to nowhere will be resolved, since it takes place entirely in Lumiose City, and since this likely takes place in the past when the city is becoming urbanized (the plans are likely for building it into the city we see today), the power plants likely weren’t built yet

The Japanese Pokémon website and Twitter account both just say that the adventure begins in Lumiose City, so I think it'll just be the "home base" area in PLZ-A like Jubilife Village in PLA and you'll expand outwards to other parts of Kalos as the story progresses.
Underrated? Really? During it's time it was hailed as a great game and people believed the transition from 2D to 3D was cool. Personally I find them as one of the worst games when it comes to the single player and settings side, the multiplayer was the best of any Pokémon game

And it also says that the game will entirely take place in Lumiose. So it’ll be interesting to see where Game Freak will take this concept… you have my attention back, Pokemon!
I don't think it says it'll take place entirely in Lumiose, though that could be interesting. I feel like Lumiose is just gonna be a giant hub level, like Jubilife Village but bigger.
The only futuristic look to me is the “blueprint/envisioning” style of this video. It looks like modern Kalos to me. This teaser doesn’t tell us much. To me it felt like the “future vision” of what Kalos will become before it was urbanized/modernized. However I wonder how this will work because the only thing we got out of this teaser is “lumiose urban redevelopment plan”. Not sure what to expect?? Because it implies progression of some sort for the city to become closer and closer to the vision they have in mind for it. I wonder how they’d incorporate that into the gameplay?

It’s definitely the past, firstly the part that looks futuristic seems to look like blueprints. I’m pretty sure this takes place before lumiose city became modern. Possibly after the Great War, and the title seems to reference AZ who had a large impact on history

The fact that we are still getting announcements for games in 2025 leads me to believe that the switch 2 is sadly still very far away.
Or, it got pushed back due to nintendo pushing back the revised switch. Which would explain why it's in 2025 and why it says SIMULTANEOUSLY worldwide. Aka it released for both systems as a switch 2 launch title. If this is true and if the game is Amazing, it can be a big seller for the new switch as one game is optimized around the newer model while some elements are reduced in the older model like graphics or fps.
Latest rumors suggest Switch to is complete and likely in production. Nintendo is waiting for their remaining Switches to sell through and they want enough stock for a huge launch. Nintendo does Nintendo things and holding back the console to Q1 2025 just give their launch titles more time to polish. I am curious to see if this title is cross gen and if some of the existing pokemon titles get next gen updates (with or without a fee attached)

Let's hope it's the same time frame as when pokemon games usually come out. Yknow, November-ish. After SV they really need to take their time. Maybe if this game is polished, it might just be a stepping stone to repairing my, and a lot of other's, faith in this franchise.

Awesome! I'm excited! I'm curious to see how this game will be similar to/different from Legends: Arceus. It's interesting that they didn't name this one directly after a legendary like they did in the last Legends game. Of course, Z probably stands for Zygarde, keeping the theme somewhat alive. But I don't see how "A" plays a part here, unless there's a fourth Gen 6 legendary that I didn't know existed/hasn't been introduced yet. Maybe there's an "A" form of Zygarde we'll be introduced to? Also, from looking at this trailer, it looks like we'll be seeing a Lumiose City that looks a lot like what those of us who played Gen 6 are familiar with. Does this mean Legends Z-A is not going to take place in the same time period as Legends Arceus? Perhaps the game will be set in a time closer to the present? Or maybe we'll be in the future, given the holographic images in this trailer. Either way, how will we get to this point in time, if this game isn't going to feature Arceus, Dialga, or Celebi? As far as I'm aware, there's no Pokemon with time-travelling/manipulating powers in X and Y.
I know a lot of people were expecting something Unova-related, but we just went to Blueberry Academy. This is probably for the best. Sometimes a great surprise is better than getting exactly what you ask for. I'm excited!

@72I would not say that Blueberry Academy counts as "Unova Content". Yes, it takes place in Unova and has references but it is no where near equivalent to this new Legends game. I do expect to see BW remakes in the near future anyway though. You are comparing a brand new Switch game that takes place in Kalos and expands heavily on the lore vs a DLC with some Unova references.

As someone who's fav game is X/Y this brings me unbridled joy. I remember opening up pokemon X on christmas morning. And playing it non stop. I remember being Mystified and intrigued by the story about the war and AZ, maybe AZ's Floette will come back aswell. I have high hopes for this one. As its in 2025. A WHOLE year of dev time. I don’t think this game is set entirely in Lumiose city’s. IMO it’s looking to be something closer to what some of us thought Legends arceus was gonna be, a town that grows as you get stronger. There’s a bit of en emphasis around the 5 circles that sprout from the center one. Maybe they act as fast travel platforms? Maybe there’s another play on time where we travel and and forth from the past and future? Either way it’s looking like they’re doing something different and that’s always welcome in Pokémon.
Maybe, but this doesn't seem to be about building Lumiose city, it's not a building plans it's a "redevelopment plan". Not sure how that works unless this is far future after the city has been destroyed?

This is during this time the Eiffel Tower and so many buildings were built. It’s a period of great advancements in technology, new discoveries every day,… It’s also a period of great turmoils with wars especially against Germany, smt intersting to with that even if Germany doesn’t exist yet as a Pokemon region.

Ruby was my first game because my uncle owned it, but X was my first owned Pokémon game so I love kalos dearly. It’s crazy to think of how we all thought Pokémon Z would either never see the light of day or be super far into the future. This also gives the Kalos starters a chance to finally have megas plus new ones

So they predicted that most people would think its kalos next and made us look elsewhere, just to make all the kalos evidence (kalos legends not in sv, paldea right next to kalos, kalos blacked out on the paldea map, the tera and mega stone similarities) resurface with this vid. Pokemon XY was the first & only game ive gone to gamestop for first thing in the morning for the release. I was in highschool & went with my bestfriend at the time, his dad took us. Im now 26 with a 3 year old, that person & I arent friends anymore but my god what a bittersweet thing this is. I cant wait!!
