Want to get your feedback. For how many of you is the simple plug and play/consistency of a webcam enough to buy it over the GoPro or phone setup?
Couple hundred for a 4K webcam isn’t bad though compare to a 4K camera or newer 4K iPhone. If money is a big issue, then I can see going with go pro or the phone you have at the moment. But for streaming 4K isn’t really necessary either. Most viewers can’t even watch streams at that high quality anyways.
Legit one of the only things stopping me buying a Camera to stream is having to get my hands on an Elgato Camlink, I do use an iPhone XS Max camera though.
Honestly, for me, I'd rather plug and play. Sure I'm tech savvy, but I just don't want to fiddle with things any longer. I just want things to work, without having to mess around with behind the scenes settings, extra cables, extra software, etc...
I guess you can zoom out the ryzer cam to that 103. I have ryzer Kiyo but first cam and that cam was zoomed in automatically
I just started a twitch stream and have been using a spare galaxy note 10+. If I could find my gopro hero 5 I would use it. To answer your question... I would stick with my cell phone untill getting a Dslr would make my stream better. But if I could find that darn gopro I would buy a cam link.. lol
06:43 It's not just a software crop - even though most webcams are. It works just like a GoPro! You can see this in the pincushion effect of your doors on the right of the image. In Linear, they are straight up and down, in Wide, they are bowed inward. The lenses are changing the FOV. :) This is illustrated again at 10:43 when you're discussing the "distance" you seem from the camera. The fisheye effect of the lens changes keep you feeling up close while keeping the wide FOV. AVerMedia PW513 doesn't, meaning the lines are straighter but you feel further away.
"EposVox viewers also watch this channel" came up on this video's thumbnail. I can confirm the metric is accurate, I am a research nerd.
I was just about to point this out. The slight zoom is a linear option so all of the distortion from the wide-angle 103 is now gone. Look at the door frames between the two shots and you will see that they are curved in the wide shot and straight in the linear mode. As said, just like the GOPro does.
With the gopro, linear mode is done in software. You can do the same thing in after effects.
Hi Bro, i have standard ps4. During play time video quality is good. however when i record gameplay, recorded video quality is terrible. I have tried change settings without much luck. Will buying a capture card help improve quality in 4K? I will be grateful if you can help.
Loved the Razer Kiyo over... everything else! The sharp image and higher contrast made every image pop so much more than the others. Every time there were multiple cams on the screen, my eyes landed on the Kiyo. Just found it on sale and I'll definitely pick it up. Thanks for the side-by-sides!
I just got it! It's going to make viral for sure! J/K i am just a nobody
@@BJORNtobeWILDall KZheadrs start as weird nobodies you just need to grind 🙏🏾
This is pretty much a masterclass in how to review something, right down to the best explanation of dynamic range that I’ve ever heard. Definitely think the go pro looks the best.
really loved this video especially how you switched between all cams and at other times had multiple cams on screen at the same time. You really let the audience see the difference and evaluate for themselves the different outputs.
Actually much preferred the Razer Kiyo to everything that wasn't the goPro. Would be interested to see the goPro hero 8's built in webcam, in comparison to the goPro second hand build
For the price of the hero 8 i would rather get a cheap used DSLR
@@USEC3 The Hero8 has a huge advantage of being smaller than a DSLR. Also I think you'd be hard pressed to get good glass and a DSLR for the price of a Hero8. That said I am using a 5dmk2 and sigma art lens. So I clearly got the low cost DSLR.
@@EthosAtheos a cam like a Rebel T7 with the kit lens still gonna produce much better picture quality than a Hero 8 and i personally hate the fisheye optic on the Go pros..
@@USEC3 I don't disagree about the lens in the Hero8 it is clearly an action camera. I don't like wide shots for streaming. I have a photography background and I prefer flat fields for most compositions.
Personally been having some issues with a hero 7 with streaming with it over heating. Idk how closely that relates to the 8 but my hero 4 hasn't had any issues whatsoever
GoPro feels like the most natural looking to me, If you have that understanding of settings for cameras you have the most freedom to tweak it until its perfect also the color just looks better in my opinion.
yupp. doesn't hurt to go that route and learn how to do all those things also. You gain knowledge, save money, and have better camera quality
Yes. For me the Gopro is the best option. Best field of view, most natural colors. Just a better camera. And if you have a channel like me where you already use Action cameras. It is a no brainer.
same here
while seeing all options from that video. I 100% agree, gopro looks best. But I had to go for my setup with a huddlecamHD because i wanted a ptz/eptz camera with a remote.
Unboxing at 3:30 Trying the Kiyo Pro 5:53 Kiyo Pro HDR 8:14 Time to Compare 12:03
Hey Harris! I’m going to start my very first Twitch stream this Wednesday and I just had the Kiyo pro delivered on Sunday. At first I was scared you were exposing how terrible the camera is but instead you made me feel like I made a good move. Your content is amazing. The knowledge you drop is very empowering!
Normally I don't comment on the ads, usually I find them annoying. But this one, StreamBeats. Seriously I can't thank you enough for the amount of time and effort you have personally put into this project for music that doesn't have copyrights. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
The Avermedia looks kinda blurry to me. The Logitech is no better, but at least it has a depth of field that adds that lovely bokeh as opposed to the avermedia which really doesn't. That said, the Razer looked way more defined. The iPhone camera looked smudged as hell, so hard to tell, but the GoPro looked good. Still not as sharp as the Kiyo Pro, but good.
Exactly my thoughts. The Razer out performed everything he put of against it, except the go pro, slightly, because it has 60fps.
I didn't know the Kiyo Pro had 60fps as well lol
@@xsmockjrx It has 60 but not in HDR mode if I'm not mistaken.
Yes the iPhone looked the worst.
I had sooo many tabs open for different questions about this cam and streaming; thank you for taking care of almost 99% of them!
I happy for you man, I remember when you dropped stream beats and look where it is at now. Keep up the amazing work.
I felt like the razor cam was best at of all the options tbh. Image looked very sharp. I don't mind losing a little bit of dynamic range and having parts of my skin a little too white since in general, this makes imperfections of the skin go away and makes me look better lol
I literally just bought the kiyo and it was hard to find but they released it and it made me feel like I was missing out
Thanks. I like the idea of the gopro and a cam link. It just opens up more possibilities.
Wow what a great review. You went into detail in just about everything. By far the best one I've watched over the razer kiyo pro
I understand that going more into the configs to get a good setup and each cam is different in each setup. With this vid and the comparisons that you give Alpha. I would have to say, that personally, I would go with the Razer Kiyo. The main reason for myself is that it looks so much more crisper than the others. I know that there may be some other pros/cons. With the ability to change the settings to get a more natural look, not just in the Razer software but also OBS itself. I would push down that way. Others might have other opinions and I respect them. Especially you share them
Personally the Razer Kiyo is a look i prefer over all the others, mostly because of the higher contrast IMO it makes the subject pop and the others it feels like a smooth blend over the whole image
Not only do I always find all your videos super helpful, just learning about stuff I don’t necessarily have an interest in is really fun. Something you’re doing right for sure.
Man I recently found your channel, I must say this was the BEST webcam review Ive ever seen, they way you show all the differences between other webcams, and the way different settings look, I really liked it. Thinking about maybe streaming, Have a decent setup already would just really need a webcam to get started, having a basic version of everything else already and would invest to upgrade other things if I really got into it. Would love to see you do more review videos like this.
So I found myself looking at your beard, and the Razer has such a clearer view and details don't seem to betting blurred together. Razer would be my choice. GoPro coloring is best but the Razer's detail is what I am liking
You all rave about the razer's detail, but the reality is that the Razor is just horribly oversharpened. You can put the same sharpening filter on top of the GoPro and it will look much sharper than the Razer
@@jo_naash no, u cant
@@jo_naash also, something can’t be over sharpened
@@Frosty_V0 The GoPro is a 4k camera and I'd say it has a similar if not better lens. If you have something to prove me wrong then do so, but I really think the razer is super soft, so they just applied a super heavy sharpening effect to hide that fact.
@@jo_naash How can you tell that the razer doesn’t have natural details? By that logic, every camera with sharp and high image quality would be fake. The razer might not have the best coloring or lighting, but it beats the GoPro in ease of use, image quality, FOV, and its in the razer ecosystem, so for people like me who mainly have razer gear, it is with all the other items.
I stream to a very small audience and they love the stream beats from you!!!! I also catch myself jamming to them when not streaming!
First video of yours I've seen. I like you. Your vibe is nice, you don't talk to fast and you know what you're talking about and explain it to the people who don't already know (like hdr) quite well
So glad I came across your video. I just started my channel a few months ago and have just been using an old cell phone as my camera and trying so hard to decide what I want to upgrade to. I've thought the Razer was always pretty nice and now the Averman is also in the running. Your video definitely broke it down for me and now I just need to decide between the 2. Thanks for your info and really diving into the details.
Idk, I kinda like the razor cam more. It has good sharpness. The other two looked soft by comparison. Prob up to personal taste I think.
I don't think this sharpness is of much use unless you stream yourself in fullscreen. Even 480p looks good on miniature.

@@Acenis But it's nice to sometimes make your Webcam full screen. And then it's nice for it to be high quality. 1080p should look good in 1080p.

Simple optics, the wider field of view, the more of a fisheye effect you'll get. The Razor is exhibiting those effects, and in fisheye so you will get more in the edges, but not so much more in the center. Same with straight optical lenses with standard cameras.
I like the older Kiyo with the ring light. Have it. Gets the stuff that I need done.

The Kiyo Pro has been reduced to 99$. That seems like a good deal, even with legato getting to 150 and logi getting down to 130.
Now it's worthy
Yup I got mine off Amazon for 79.99
Just a quick note regarding the business professionals using webcams: sometimes a webcam is the only option outside of the very sub-par integrated one because the IT department doesn't give admin rights and doesn't want everyone to install OBS, regardless of one's tech knowledge. That means that at least the phone option is out (I'm not sure if a cam link is detected as a webcam by conferencing software?). It doesn't make any of the points raised in the video any less valid but I thought it was unfair to assume that a "business professional" would not be tech savvy and this would be the reason their reason to go for a webcam :)
One job I worked at required you to call IT just to make sensitivity adjustments to your mouse. Probably not a big deal to the average office worker, but when you're duties are split between administration and design, that can be a real pain in the ass. My solution was to harass them constantly until they finally gave admin privileges just to stop hearing my voice.
Cam Link is detected as a webcam in conferencing software
Yea, but if that's your use case, then none of these web cams really are the right tool. These are designed for streamers, not corporate use. I have a very acceptable, far more portable, and less expensive webcam I use for my meetings.
All of the $20 HDMI to USB dongles I've used from amazon are all recognised as a standard webcam in my experience.
@@kurtpleavin Nice, that's good to know! Thanks for the hint!

Damn, this webcam is impressive.
GoPro is looking better and I will choose that option if there's enough tutorials online how to set it up, otherwise, I will go for the Razer Kiyo.
Probably the most abundant high quality tutorials on youtube are on lighting and camera settings so you should be covered.
Most cheap gopros have overheating issues. I'd suggest you rock the Kiyo instead.
@@savagality I hope this analogy makes sense. So OP is looking at buying a second hand BMW M3 (which, for the sake of argument, is actually cheaper) as long as she can get professional training to safely enjoy the M3, otherwise, she will go for a low power Mustang. What you're suggesting is that you went to the dealership for a low power Mustang and ended up with a Camry so she should consider the Camry because it's more than enough for your needs. Also, she doesn't need to worry about rear wheel drive. Does that sum it up?

I wish I would've saved money for a DSLR or a GoPro. Bought the Logitech Brio 4K and it's absolute garbage.
I just ordered the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra. It'll be here in about 30 minutes. I'm so excited!
This was really interesting. While the streamcam doesn't have the best image, I think Logitech nailed it with the exposure and focus settings. The razer was a little bit struggling in my opinion. And avermedia just wasn't there with the sharpness. But I think the best all around is still the razer.
Well seeing as avermedia just dropped the price of the 513 to 199 I'd say 1000% it's the winner here
It doesn't look as sharp or contain the fine details IMO
If we're talking purely image quality and not focal length, imo the logitech streamcam looks way better than the other webcams. The GoPro is pretty damn good though.
After watching one of GoPro/webcam videos I decided to with a GoPro hero 8 (first model that lets you use as webcam without additional hardware) So glad I got a GoPro and can use it outside of streaming. There are a few hiccups I’ve had when streaming with it, but nothing outrageous. Still rocking it now!
Actually switching from a gopro hero3+ black/cheap capture card to one of these tomorrow. To me, the detail and clarity of this was all I needed to see. Nothing else you showed was close imo and I'm confident I can get the color/tonal settings close enough with adjustable temperature lights. Plus, messing with the settings on a gopro as a webcam is pretty annoying and limited. For example on the hero3+ your WB settings are limited to auto, 3000k, 5500k, 65000k, or raw. And auto isn't great. Also tried the logitech C920, but it went back in the box within 24 hours. Would drop to around 15 FPS in low light. Ultimately, I think this strikes the good balance between webcam pricing/ease of use and mirrorless/dslr quality, but we'll see! Excited to try it out. Just hope they fix the autofocus hunting issue soon.

Low tech solution for measuring angle. Get 2 adjustable arms that can pivot. It could be old swing arms from a light or something like that. Have a card or something that sticks up at a distance probably 3-5 feet. Move the arms apart to where they are barely visible on each side. Then all you have to do is measure the angle with a protractor and you will know the exact angle. You could attach a protractor to one of the arms and then when you get them into position, all you have to do is look at the reading.
I'd pick the RAZER in a heartbeat.

of the three webcams to me the Logitech looks the best, but i also like slightly desaturated video like log with contrast added, but the gopro is probably the best value, best image.
