Join me as I break down Carlos Alcaraz’s forehand, and look at each aspect of the shot in detail.
Ever wondered what makes a good forehand in tennis? It’s more complicated than you may think, with power, touch and accuracy just being the tip of the iceberg. That’s why I’m breaking down all the best shots from the top players in the world, and explaining why they are so excellent.
In this video, I break down the 10 different elements that make up Alcaraz’s forehand, and give each of these a rating out of 10. Here’s what I’ll be looking at:
- his ability to change direction
- his accuracy
- his change of pace
- his counterpunching
- his ball heaviness
- his generation of pace
- his movement
- how solid his backhand is under stress
- his passing shot and lob
- his touch
After analysing each of these different areas, I give Alcaraz’s forehand an overall rating out of 100. Spoil alert: it’s an incredible number!
Do you agree with my rating? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments, and give me your analysis as well.

Please do Fed's Forehand, also super curious how his serve would grade out! Love these videos by the way!
one of the best forehand of all times
Time
He might come from a parallel universe
Recency bias

Not even close lol
we need more of these videos
Please do one for Federer forehand.
99
Nice !
I agree with your opinion 100%. This is not subjective.
It would be very interesting to have your opinion about Roger and Rafa forehand. 🙏🙂
I would like to see Federer's forehand rating. Especially 2004-2007 version.
Yesss!
04-07 Fed forehand, I'd never seen a shot so conclusively devastating, and probably never will. The winners and controlling the court against top players like Safin, Hewitt, Agassi et al was insane.
@@loganthewolverine2030oberrated error machine obviously looked good playing bums like baghdatis roddick
I think you forgot to mention his running forehand which is incredible.
Please do Medvedev backhand
i really want to see a video about Stefanis Tsitsipas backhand
👏👏
audio and video brightness 5/10
Dominic Thiem's single-handed backhand
04 Federer vs. 2023 Alcaraz 🔥
Let's see Federer!
Can you do Novak djokovic forehand?
He already make a separate video on it
Federer forehand
Who's gonna win the AO? Maybe Alcaraz 🤔
Kyrgios service can beat 90/100
He has not won anything though
@@fingersm that’ s true, but indeed the best service in my opinion, very hard to be read
@@fingersmSo what? You can have the best serve in the world and not win anything big.
There's a ridiculous stat of Nick's serve in 2022. I won't give it away but it was after that stat that Djokovic said Nick has the best serve. And the stat is insane considering the pace and accuracy of the serve. Goran Ivanisevic also had an insane serve as did Pancho Gonzalez. The other won grand slams though and top 3 in the world. And Sampras.
I don't think it's subjective. It's somewhat subjective or even largely subjective. To say it's subjective per se is to rule out all possibility of objectivity, which can't be the case if there's any form of clear measurement
Federer's forehand on fire can smoke Djokovic.
No way . Djokovic's backhand should be higher rated and far more steely and bullet proof
He wont go to Rafa and Fed forehand....cuz those are once in a lifetime strokes.
Fabian Marozsan has a better drop shot
Yes! But we haven't seen it yet under pressure in the biggest stage. But he did best Alcaraz with it many times in their clay court match.
Novak 95 / 100
Nah, Alcaraz forehand is better
