I love it when videos just show people working without a bunch of mindless chatter. Thanks! Absolutely beautiful restoration.
Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it. I hope to see you in my new restoration projects.

Lovely memories of 6 months I spent in France working on a farm back in the 1970s. I was given one of these that was broken and lying in a barn, with the offer that if I could fix it, I could keep it as a runaround. Fixed in in two days (magneto contacts, spark plug and perished lead to get it running, other minor mechanical fixes) and spent the summer with "Moby" buzzing around everywhere, including around the farm. I'd forgotten about the furious pedalling to start routine. Thanks for the memories and a lovely restoration job. Alas, Moby was more utilitarian in look but it was supremely simple and reliable and a hoot bouncing over the fields after the farm 2CV van.
When I read your comment, those moments came to life in my mind like a film. Really this moped is a work of art and engineering that has touched the lives of many people. I wonder what memories this moped has accompanied for 54 years. I would like to know which sadnesses and happinesses he witnessed.
I remember my younger days when i see this moped.when driving we felt as hero. This was the first of its kind in our place.peope used to stare at this. Thanks for taking to 70's
I felt the same with my first old NSU Quickly, when i was 14.
Mobylette recalls me my father's images when he restored the engine without full tools , so hard works.Thank you very very much.
Hail to the good old days. It was a nice feeling for me to remind you of those moments of your father.
The first motorised vehicle I ever owned was a moped 55 years ago !! the amount of fun I had on that moped I will never forget!, a gallon of two stroke lasted me about a week and cost 17½ pence new money, in old money it was 3/6d or 3 shillings and 6 pennies a gallon of petrol for 17½ pence hard to belief isn't it ? today its about £8.50p or 180.9 a litre how times have changed ! today I drive a eBike no road tax and no insurance or MOT and its almost as much fun as that moped I owned all those years ago thankyou for making the video I admire your skill wish I could do what you can do fantastic to watch !
Dear Jack, I am happy to remind you of your happy day. Time really changes things. Thank you for your wonderful supportive comment. I wish you a lifetime of happiness. I make an effort to bring you the best restoration videos. Stay tuned.
@@momororo6958 Hi, I will be 71 years old tomorrow I doubled checked the price of a gallon of petrol when i was 15 it was slightly more than i stated earlier up from 3/6d to 4s 6d min to 6s 5d max old money 25p to 35p new money depending on where you bought it from some petrol stations were cheaper than others still 35p for a gallon of petrol is just as hard to believe today don't you agree?
Happy birthday Jack. May your life be healthy and peaceful. May you live long.🎂🎂🎂🥳

Chapeau bas l'artiste. 👍
Merci pour votre beau commentaire.
2023 - 1969= 54 anos
I feel rather emotional about this "Mobylette Motobecane" video, as I had one exactly like it, I landed in England in 1955 as a 16 year old young man, and after that I bought this Mobylette. I drove it all over the South of England including going from Chatham to Par in Cornwall and up to Wales and to Portsmouth . When I went to University at Newcastle upon Tyne, I drove back to Chatham and then back to Newcastle upon Tyne, each leg taking about 13 to 15 hours non stop. I drove from Chatham to London, through the tunnel and then up to Doncaster and Newcastle, On occasions I went from Newcastle to Scotland to Edinburgh and Glasgow and Pitlochry to see the salmon. Mine had a Sachs engine, and through all those journeys I never needed to change the driving belt, nor ever had a puncture.. My colleagues at Chatham Dockyard thought that I was a fool, as their philosophy was that the longer the journey the bigger the engine one needs. I never had any problems driving at 25 to 30 mph, even slower on occasions. I never gave it any heavy maintenance, but out of curiosity, once I opened the automatic clutch and the centrifugal balls that change the width of the pulley and once I understood it, I looked after it in the manner in which I drove. and the oil I mixed with the fuel. When I was to returned home to Malta, in 1970 I broke my heart to have to leave my beloved Mobylette behind, and to my surprise one person at Newcastle, who knew that I was leaving, he asked me for it, to put it in his collection of cars and motorcycles. He had a Rolls Royce 1904 !0 HP. Thank you for the memories. Congratulations for the dedication and skills and devotion and accuracy and detail which I would never match, but indeed a pleasure and an honour to see you doing this, This made me feel younger and I still drive a Honda 70 cc with which I cover all the short and long journeys I need at no more that 30 miles per hour. Thank you once again, and congratulations for the video where you respected the sound of the work conducted as the best music to accompany the video ........... that shows respect for the sound and rhythm of engineering sequences, and how the permutations an d combinations of parts bring to life " a brother or sister od my faithful biped with a rocking engine to keep the belt in tension"
I read what you wrote letter by letter. You have equipped it with such beautiful memories and sentences that it is impossible not to be amazed. I offer you my respect and love. Your comment and support really honoured me. I am grateful to you, this is a great source of motivation for me. people's negative thoughts are much more than their positive thoughts. In fact, the value of your travels is more valuable than those made with big motorcycles. You have travelled by feeling the travel and geography and accompanying the smallest detail. Most motorbike travellers think that they are exploring by doing 400-500 km a day, but the faster you are, the less detail you see and adopt. again, I offer my respect and love.
A friend told me of a pal of his who toured Europe in the late 1960’s on an NSU Quickly. It sounded as if he had quite an adventure!
I was restoring pre-World War One British two-stroke motorcycles before that one was even made, and still doing restorations at the age of 74, so I really enjoy ed this video . Good to see these now old bikes getting some love ! Thanks for sharing !

I used to ride one 58 years ago. A cream one.
An amazing date.I hope you have collected good memories
@@restoringo I was 11 years old, a few of us had them and similar (Phillips Panda, NSU Quickly and another one I can't remember). They were stripped bare and used on a home made speedway track. I thought I was Peter Craven. Wonderful times. I have progressed to a 1250 Suzuki Bandit.

1000 merci.

Terima kasih atas likenya bro.
It is very difficult to describe the happiness and peace of mind that the sound of the first start-up gives. The first start-up sound is my favourite sound.
Ps: Knap stukje huisvlijt !!
Ça me fait rappeller ma jeunesse... c'est nostalgique...!! Bravo pour cette belle restitution...!
WOW! What an amazing restoration. Give yourself a pat on the back young man. That's how work was done in the old days.

A great restoration. Nice work. I just miss some washers onstage some places where i think they are needed. It’s just a detail but that’s also we’re restoring is about. Getting the details just right. I love watching these builds

Great work there! In London late 50's early 60's all the learner taxi drivers had those bikes to do their "Knowledge" of the streets of London on. They were always a pale blue colour. I had a NSU Quickley in those days.
