People claim that fans who dislike the new games have "unrealstic expectations" when they ask for a game like one of the old ones. If that's true then I'd say that these GameFreak defenders are actually its biggest haters. We just want GameFreak to make games of the same quality they used to, and they defend GameFreak by saying "thats unrealistic". "Oh no, GameFreak is on the decline. Our favorite devs are so pitiful, they just can't make em like they used to."
GF is turning into modernDisney, and not in a good way
@@magicwandstudio3141 we already have modern disney, because they make the modern show.
@@magicwandstudio3141 you got that backwards doc more like EA*
"unrealistic expectations" feels like a complete copout excuse imo. Games of the same genre do twice as much as Pokemon do, even in their lowest points, and are praised for it. RPGs tend to be some of the most content-packed genres in gaming. What we're asking out of Pokémon is only fair given the status of the franchise as the "highest grossing media franchise", in comparison to more relatively niche series that add thrice as much content into their games because they love their fans.
Pokemon doesn't even meet the standards of a game from three generations ago. Final Fantasy 12, a PS2 game, has a more lively overworld and a better story. Calling it unrealistic is just preposterous.

I'm ok with SOME little "shortcuts" here and there, but not when they're so visually distracting and offputting that it immediately takes me out of scenes that are supposed to be a big deal. If I'm being honest, while I don't like the "N64" trees in Galar, they don't bother nearly as much as the big, fancy, box art legendary spinning 180 degrees on a perfect axis like it's moonwalking on a damned turntable. It's not just lazy, it's gross.
Yeah, the LOD in SwSh was really off
It's still lazy cause they looked at that and were like "okay that's good enough"
@@yiangaruga4928 I get the feeling it was more along the lines of "We're still not happy with this, but we literally don't have enough time to fix it before reaching our absurdly short deadline."
No excuses, No "shortcuts", No BS. They need to stick to a style and run with it. They have had 25 years to figure out what they are doing & every game is either missing features from previous titles, it's dumbed down or the style is off putting. Until the people at Gamefreak learn how to pick up a dictionary & are smart enough to learn the definition of routine, i won't be wasting my money on a mediocre product.

ever since I was a kid I've wanted a pokemon game with multiple endings/win conditions for beating the game, not just "become champion." in the anime they make a big deal about different paths people take in regards to pokemon: there are breeders, contest trainers, etc. I wish you could specialize like that and not have to do the gym challenge and elite four every time.
Yeah. I literally just wanna be the best Bug Catcher in the region. Set up a gym. I don't care about the Championship.
Its a good idea, pokemon anime kinda explore this by having brock being a breeder/scholar and may/dawn/serena being a coordinator/performer. There are time where i wish i can just choose contest without challenging gym. Inthink Pokemon Adventure manga kinda explore this better. Not every protagonist actually want tonchallege gym and become champion. And even some who challege gym have different reason other than being a champion or pokemon master (Dawn/Platinum want to challenge gym to restore her piplup’s pride after being defeated, and gain more knowledge and real life experience as the heir of her rich family and as prof Rowan assistant)
bruh i love shiny hunting but i don't want to have to play through the whole league to finish the dex and THEN be able to have all options to hunt, i want to choose my own path and be a shiny hunter or breeder/contest trainer, i absolutely HATE battling and just want to enjoy the game(even if battling is like 90% of the game, i just want multiple options)
I wanna steal others powkemons and be on the bad team while slowly turn good and see the error of my ways. I wanna start wars and fix them

I think an ideal Pokemon game has difficulty options, a good postgame/battle frontier, and new game plus.
Black white 2 did it. Future games should do it too
@@LordLad666 BW2 Has New Game Plus?
New game+ in a Pokémon game. I like the sound of that. Imagine playing the story modes where every battle in the story playthrough are competitive battles. XD
@@ZimVerse no, it has difficulty options (but with a catch)
@@goGothitaLOL Yeah, needing to beat the game first to unlock an easy mode, and making easy mode and hard mode version exclusive from each other is the most backwards thinking ever.
My Dream Pokémon game: 1. *Dynamic Battles* You remember how in the anime Trainers are required to react on the fly to their opponents moves? Dodging, countering, blocking, usually by using a move of their own? That is what I want to see recreated in the games. A truly innovative battle system (of course simplified) probably not turned based where you need to dynamically react to opponents almost like a fighting game except with the Pokémon power hierarchy. And it should be logical so one can experiment. Ie if Squirtle tries to hit Pikachu with a Pikachu can quickly dodge and if the player is quick thinking enough, electrocute the water to shock Squirtle. Players should be able to cleverly overcome different attacks by thinking logically (as per the rules of power in the Pokémon world that is). 2. A living world Pokémon should have daily cycles. Sleeping at a particular time in a particular location, grazing / hunting at a particular time and place etc. They should never be standing around waiting to be caught. Oh and they (wild Pokémon specifically) should be a *bit* hard to find, hiding in brush, up trees, in hollows etc etc. It'll make them seem more believable. And there should be interactions among Pokémon both of the same type and different types. Imagine creeping in the woods, hearing a commotion and seeing a Charizard and a Blastoise going at it. The Charizard wins and flies away and you catch the weakened Blastoise. 3. A world full of mysteries and secrets. Just tonnes of them. Puzzles that when solved transport you to a new area, legendary Pokémon hidden behind subtle puzzles only the observant would notice, npc side quests in obscure or hard to find locations that end with valuable rewards. I mean, *really* plunder the Pokémon world. Hide locations and characters from the anime and films all over. Most audaciously, I'd want them to hide a whole second region too, but they never talk about it before the game comes out and although there will be a few different ways to get there, a player can finish the game without finding it. I mean, if we're dreaming here I went all out.
The battle system that you proposed is basically digimon world series(when bandaid uses the Tamagotchi formula), a cool concept but can be poor executed.
I would love a pokemon game like that
Unsurprisingly Scarlet and Violet were way far off from your dream game, but ooo have I ever agreed with a comment. A more interactive and alive world is very much needed, even if just Pokemon being Pokemon. Would love to see flying mon flying, Seviper and Zangoose fighting, Caterpie shooting strings to evolve to Metapod or anything the Pokedex states actually happen in the world around the player. Sadly, money comes first and that is just more work, same pay to them. Just look at the amount of money Pokemon Go brings in.
Good idea but 15:57
Reading your first point made me realize: if they really wanted to keep it turn-based, something like early Paper Mario's action commands (including ones for blocking or countering) would do wonders at helping the battles feel more interactive than just "choose move, look at animation, choose move again".
Wait so gireum red is actually a korean guy and not a gas can?
the only thing i disagree is about bringing back cynthia again. i mean, i dont want her to start being overrated like red and the 384833 current forms of charizard. we got cynthia in the gen 5 games and sun and moon, and we got her ancestors in legends arceus so please leave cynthia alone
She became overrated long before that
@@rook7792 i wouldnt necessarily say Shes overrated, shes badass and very difficult to beat in battle unless you know exactly what you’re doing, her garchomp and milotic are tough
She, along with Red and Blue, would benefit most from Champions being in the game being kept a pleasant secret to discover upon release. (Although all of them would still benefit from it since they're amongst the most impactful characters of their respective games anyways) That way, she's there and just as tough as ever, but it's not a surprise that spoils the mood by overfocusing on the same few since every other Champion (including N and Nemona) would also be included.
YOU’RE LIVIN IN A DREAM WORLD

It got cringier and cringier everytime it appeared on screen
The payoff at the end was p good tho ngl
I think it was a meta joke about how gamefreak rehashes models and animations to get games out quicker.
YOU'RE LIVING IN A DREAM WORLD
just imagine a pokemon game as huge and storywise amazing as DragonQuest 11 or Persona 5. I know pokemon can´t have as dark themes as Persona 5, but Dragon Quest 11 deepness of story should be possible. If they would release a pokemon game as amazing as Dragon Quest 11 I would be super happy
DQ11 was incredible! A pokémon game like that would be unbelievable.
Black and white was dark tbh
@@roxasbaker ah yes, 16 yo beat evil guy for evil things. The deepest story ever made.
@@roxasbaker I love black and white to death but no, no they weren't dark at all
@@roxasbaker BW and SM are only dark in comparison to other Pokemon main stories, which is an incredibly low bar to pass. That said, I do think that also means they're good in that regard; they touch upon slightly darker themes than usual in still a fairly kid-friendly way. Hell, a certain NPC interaction that can be found in gen 5 is basically a couple having a mature breakup, realizing they have two opposite lifestyles and thus can't stay with each other, but with no exagerrated drama; just the two going their own ways.

Dude that face reveal caught me off guard! Mad respect. My perfect game is Blaze Black and Volt White. Hacks by Drayano to make BW harder, but we got access to practically every Pokemon, updated movesets, abilities, stats, etc. It was the best experience I've had in a Pokemon game. Blaze Black 2 is next for me! ...when I get time.
try blaze black 2 redux it just came out last month
@@sk.9857 now that is a real game indeed
Drayano's hacks are the DS games as they were meant to be. Renegade Platinum is the ultimate pokemon experience.
Most countries are undergoing economic hardships. While the video game industry has grown in the last 2 recessions, not everyone can afford to buy 2 or 3 mainline pokemon games in the span of a year, especially when their costs of living are increasing at a faster rate. Just another reason as to why GameFreak should wait until 2023 to release a new mainline game.
I totally agree Pokémon needs to give more development time to their games so they can be better both visually and practically (game play and stuff) Also you look great
Nice to see you again, Gireum. This was one of the topics I wanted you to talk about. Btw who's that guy in the video? He sounds just like you, except he's not a sentient jerry can. Also, YOU LIVIN' IN A DREAM WORLD!
Yeah, who is he?
Some thing I really wish most Pokémon games had would slow pacing. It feels like every town has a gym so there’s only ever gonna be like eight important locations. XY are definitely unfinished games but they’re very beginning are one of my favorite parts. There’s such a long stretch in between the two gyms that it gives you time to truly feel like you’re on an adventure instead of just gym battle to gym battle. In my own dream Pokémon game their would be enough content in the main story as to make it feel like a proper journey.
Feel the same way about Sword and Shield in terms of the gyms. There was a decent gap from the opening to the first gym (plus, we get access to the wild area during said gap).
With 5 yrs of development time I think they could add difficulty settings, which I would appreciate very much, as I prefer more challenging experiences while still having the exp share. That would be the cherry on top (challenge mode being only in the postgame is the greatest shortcoming of b2w2)
2:49 I can’t believe he is not an anthropomorphic Jerrycan in real life, my world has been shaken
I did not expect a face reveal. Looking good mate
Unfortunately, Pokemon will never be delayed and put off merch, as >70% of Pokémon’s revenue is merch…
"Your living in a dream world" I feel was annoying as shit Great vid tho :)
Random idea about how to fix the cutscene pitfalls: Just make them in the anime style, similar to the recent Persona titles. The goal of the Pokémon anime was to achieve the creative vision of the Pokémon universe to begin with. Now we have the opportunity to marriage the two aspects of Pokémon into one vision. and it’s more flexible then using the existing models (apparently, at least given how Gamefreak does things). Plus, you can reuse the anime we designs for marketing, whether in the Anime series itself, or just for promotional material
pretty reasonable list of ideas similar to mine and others, great video. Also, nice face reveal. you look good :)
13:35 I'm actually against the idea of tons of fanservice. I don't want a bunch of people from different games being here for no reason but to battle you especially all the time. I love Red, I love Cynthia but I'm tired of seeing them all the time. Fanservice isn't special when done too much. If they want to bring back a character while adding to their story like what they did with Anabel or Ingo that's perfectly fine, but if I have a problem with Legendaries being plopped in the game for no reason, the same thing'll go for characters. I'm all for large battles and tournaments, but we don't need a bunch of fanservice to do it.
I think they could incorporate past characters as ways to get old Pokemon or items, like Colress can give you the Pokemon fusing items. Or N visits you and you have to battle him to earn a Tao Dragon. Maybe meet Brandon to find the Regis of the region. Some details like that will help that just having those items be bought out of nowhere.
I just want returning protagonist characters that isn't Red, why does it always have to be Red and not any other Protagonist? Does GameFreak have any bias against any protagonist that isn't Red? I just wanna fight other protagonists for once, not Red
YOU'RE LIVING IN A DREAM WORLD!! There's no way we'd get a Pokémon game developed with effort. Dexnav, PWT and two regions is all I want. Also, now the game is on console, if your water Pokémon is large enough, it can Surf and Dive through under water routes. Big bird Pokémon can Soar. Etc.
Gamefreak had put two regions in Pokémon Gold and Silver. That came out over 20 years ago. My “dream game” would include 3 regions. Imagine a game that takes you through Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh
oookay .. i wanna do this too before watching the video. just a quick list. - uses an engine capable of utilizing the switches hardware (xenoblade engine or dragon quest XI engine for example) - open world - you start at a different town depending on your starter - can do the first 4 and last 4 gyms in any order and they scale opproximatly - pokemon catching from arceus - focus on like 300 mons in the overworld but make a big chunk of them act/behave unique.. like volutlas in their webs and can only be caught with a specific interaction with your pokemon (burning the web?) .. stuff like this.. i want to have pokemn in the overworld act at least half as lively as in new snap - optional dungeons with legis/rare pokemon in them - story is very loose (since its open world) and told/acted out in chunks after certain milestones (reaching lv20 with a mon, beating 2 gyms etc) - dedicated online battle SIMULATOR, where you dont have to train and breed any pokemon AT ALL. you just type in numbers and lets go. call it pro-mode or something.
People act as though the previous games disappear from existence after they're personally finished playing them. Not everyone buys Pokémon games on release. Hell, I just bought Pokémon Y off of eBay this February and bought Sword in September. I'm so behind on Pokémon releases between the mainline and spinoff games.
Me: Can we at least get difficulty options Pokemon: YOU'RE LIVING IN A DREAM WORLD!!!
Totally agree, I think attention to detail is key for any rpg, and they are forgetting about them just to finish before deadlines. If not even the current world situation made them postpone gen 9, then nothing will stop their greed and timelines at this point. In the end it’s the fault of the consumers who buy rushed games, these games start to look more like an interactive add for the franchise (in order to sell cards, plushies, etc.). I wish Gen 9 was a new golden age for Pokémon… but making all gym leaders fight in one specific plaza of one city, makes me fear that the region will be empty, not many towns or other cities... Let’s remember how in sword and shield they started with gyms having mini games, and the last one being just a room with two trainers staring at you. Maybe this time they didn’t want to spend time doing cities and minigames using some excuse about the unique culture/story of the region.
I cannot fucking sit here and watch this video after you’ve used the same clip 8 times at this point, I can tell it was done on purpose but it still got me
Good graphics, the entire dex, open world and being able to challenge the gyms in any order, a story on par with B&W's, good animations for Pokémon and characters alike, and personalities for every Pokémon both when caught and when it is in the wild.
Heartgold and Soulsilver is a bit closer to what you're describing.
Here is a small wishlist i have: 1. Go back to sprites. Just dew it! 3D Pokèmon is not fun, but soulless. Go back to sprites, but HD2D, make the games in the style of Octopath Traveller. 2. ONE game. There is no need for two seperate Pokèmon games, JUST ONE. 3. Player characters with lots of customization options. 4. Rivals with an actual personality and maybe a small character arc. Oh and minimize the times we battle them. 5. Let me battle Gym leaders and Trainers with more than just three Pokèmon. 6. Make the Region and Map similar to Hoenn and Sinnoh. NO LINEARITY. Massive routes, locations and landmarks to explore. 7. New areas after becoming Champion, like towns, cities or places like the Battle Zone or the Sevii Islands. To be parts of the game mind you and not sold to us via dlc. 8. Returning characters, like Champions, Gym Leaders, Elite Fours, former villian leader and/or admins and maybe even former player characters like Brendan or Hilda and maybe even former rivals. 9. No refernce to Gen 1, no NPC or characters from Gen 1 and ban Pikachu from the Pokèdex. 10. Multiple Save Files. Sometimes i may want to play through a game again, WITHOUT having to either delet my OG save file or spend money on the other version of the game, just give me more save files.
9. That's Literally Never Gonna Happen xD
I feel like sprites are overrated af lol but I agree with the other points
You're living in a dream world.
I would also want an actual Rival. You know, a smug asshole who's always a step ahead of you, rubs there success in your face and motivates you to become stronger, so you can kick there ass and make them shut up.
i like the idea of post game areas and having returning characters. if they put N back in a new game the fanbase would go crazy. i also love when GF does optional legendaries/mythical puzzle areas(like the regi's and legendary birds(even the chasing minigame the gen 8 DLC was good)) I also like sidegames where you get pokemon in them as well or better yet an in-game event like ORAS with deoxys
who's that person hijacking your voice, they don't have a oil can head, clearly an imposter
I agree with so many of your points. Especially the development time. Gen 4 lasted like four and a half years. It was the perfect length for a generation.
‘It’s been 3 years between each gen it is fine!!’ -the DS games weren’t as hard to make since they didn’t have 3D models -ScVi is trying to be OPEN WORLD when Legends and SwSh wild area are far from technical marvels.
“They have multiple teams!!” -the only other game I can think of which has this function is Sonic when they made 06 and Secret rings at the same time

I have the perfect idea for fixing the in-game cutscenes, anime-style cutscenes like Persona 5
This may be off-putting to some but I agree with this - the many Pokemon shorts throughout the recent years has shown how good they could be.
@@zjzr08 And it would fix the animation problem, cause they could draw any movement or effect they wanted
I would actually pay 2 legs to buy Pokémon games…directed by you.
To deal with the Exp share issue they could make it so every new gym gave a level cap so you don't just overlevel and once one of your Pokémon reach that max cap, the Exp that will be split between the remaining pokemon will increase
A perfect Pokémon game is where you can create your own character and start in any region you want and are able to go to every region, and each region increases the max level by 100
Fantastic video! I 100% agree. I think the development time of the game is one of the biggest problems, but they also focus on the wrong things. Fans just want a polished, well made pokemon game, not a new gimmic every generation.

I'd say the elements of a great Pokemon game: give the team a lot of time, no HMs, reusable TMs, follow what: HG/SS, Platinum, BW, and B2W2 did
something i would love to see adapted are some of the locations from the pokemon movies. they could be dlc or post game areas but i always though it would be fun to experience the locations of the movies and there's so much potential in that. the pokemon race in the water from the 5th movie. contest in the city ash and co. were at in the darkrai movie. How a about a battle tower fashioned after pokemon's 3rd movie with its own story etc etc

A game where you can start in any of the gen 1-7 regions and could travel to other after beating that regions story or missions
Gen. 4 was where I started, Gen. 5 I loved even more, Gen. 6 I quit at the Mega tutorial.
Gen 9 being revealed was supposed to make me happy but honestly I'm not, its too damn soon but its Game Freak after all
(YOU'RE) WE'RE LIVING IN A DREAM WORLD!
A generation every 3 years .... at this point it has to be 5 to 8 years per generation. Quality over quantity; still if it is 10 years per generation I would think something is up. Also there should be some trainers with a ''team'' of a single level 80 to 100 critter after the 8th badge or maybe a couple. Even the E4 and Champ won't have a pokemon that ripped in their team.
Think 4-5 is good. 6 to 8 is too much. We got Gens 4 and 5 with 4 year gaps from their predecessors and those were generally good games (except DP had glitches (that's despite them delaying the release from 05 to 06 too)
Seems that just one extra year is enough given that the last game we know for sure to have a 4 year development cycle was Black and White (which we know from interviews saying that they began on it when DP released). Then again, Diamond and Pearl had a year delay (was slated for 2005 (in Japan), but still ended up with its issues.
I agree, I find your dreams not at all that unrealistic. We could have that.
This but like, remove all the “you’re living in a dream world’s!”

I want them to add in all of the Pokémon, bring back mega evolutions, battle frontier, PWT, contests, the Pokémon not being lifeless in the overworld, more than one region, take the time to complete the game, etc
In Scarlet and Violet, they MUST add a Kalos postgame. In Sword and Shield they needed to add Kalos, and they didn’t, so they must in Scarlet and Violet
It’s even a better time than Sword and Shield, because if they keep close to real world geography, then from PokeSpain we’d get access to the fabled South Kalos

Like Skyrim it should have many dungeons on the map, many places to go and many mini missions.
I have some to say about this, who knows, maybe I'll make my own video about it eventually, but I thought you might be interested in hearing my thoughts. So here is my "dream pokemon game" 2d vs 3d: I would prefer it to be a more modern looking pixel stylized 2d game, but I wouldn't mind 3d if it didn't look bad. Region: I would have the game take place in Kanto, Jhoto, and Hoenn, with some smaller areas that don't count as their own region, such as Orange Islands. I would keep the roadblocks at a minimum, allowing you to travel to each region without having to become league champion in your starting region first. Pokemon Leagues: I would have one gym for each pokemon type in each region, so 18 gyms per region, 54 gyms total for the 3 major leagues. I would have some minor pokemon leagues, such as the orange island league, with 4 gyms/leaders each, so maybe like.. 4 minor leagues, 16 gym badges total. Each major league only requires 8 badges to enter, but you still get specific bonuses for each badge so there's reasons to get each badge. Get all 4 badges for the minor leagues to take part in their championship. I would have a world wide pokemon league that you can participate if you become champion in one league. Gym Leaders/League Champions: I would have the leaders use different pokemon based on the number of mastery stars your party of pokemon have unlocked/available to them instead of giving them set levels/pokemon. This way the challenge can fluctuate based on the strength of your party at the given time, so you can try it with a weaker team that might work well, or still be challenged even if you think you're bringing an over powered team of pokemon. Main characters: I think instead of just getting to choose boy/girl, you should also get to choose young child, older teen, young adult, or adult. The choice changes the family you have and your rival/s. Rivals: I think a slightly toned down version of a Gary type of rival makes sense, someone who isn't an enemy, but pushes you to do better without being your friend. I didn't like the friendly rival in sun/moon. And I think you should have multiple rivals. Main Characters from previous games: I think you should get to see Red, Blue, Green, Silver, Gold, Sapphire, and Ruby, and maybe add Crystal and Emerald or something, plus a few appropriate extra characters for this game to be side character rivals. Battle Challenge!: I love double/tripple battles. I feel like you shouldn't be forced to fight any NPCs, you should be able to refuse to battle any of them if you want. I want there to be a pre-battle challenge menu that pops up, it allows you to choose whether you want to engage in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 battles, as well as set the cap in the total number of pokemon you both will get to use (1-6), and allow you to choose which of your pokemon you will use first, instead of defaulting to the first pokemon in your line up. Battle System: I wouldn't abandon the battle system we've had, but I would rework it. I never really liked the idea of Technical Machines. I want to find people/places in the world where you can teach your pokemon special moves. I want to do special training and have experience go towards your pokemon mastering certain moves. Each pokemon should be able to have more than four known moves at a time, perhaps an unlimited number of moves that it actively knows, but a limited amount of mastery based on its level. Each move the pokemon knows has a mastery of between zero and three stars. Increasing the mastery of the move increases the accuracy and power of the move. The total number of mastery stars the pokemon has is limited based on its level, for example a level 10 pokemon might only have 1 total mastery star available, the number of times a pokemon uses its move allows its mastery to increase, and if a pokemon already has one mastery star used on one of its move, and its limited to one star total, it can not put a mastery star into any other moves, but I would allow for you to switch the mastery stars around using the "camp" function to help prepair/retrain your pokemon for any upcoming challenges. I would have the battle area/arena you are fighting in have more effect in battles, for example if you are surfing in water, and get a fight with a random pokemon, you might want to fight with a swimming or flying pokemon, because other pokemon would be slowed down because they aren't used to swimming in the water to fight. I would have special areas in the world available to train pokemon to overcome certain weaknesses or circumstances, for example, if you make a rock pokemon meditate under a waterfall for long enough, its weakness to water might be reduced, this sort of thing, I wouldn't rely on held items any more. Also, I might consider getting rid of held items, or reducing the amount of held items that are available for battles. Number of pokemon: I feel like we've been getting quantity over quality over the years. I might reduce the number of pokemon back down to 450 or something for this game. I would certainly consider taking some of the better/more sensical pokemon from newer generations, but I wouldn't feel obligated to include all of them because of them existing in other games. I would try to emphasize regional or sub-regional variances on a solid core set of pokemon. Strange things like.. Pink Island pokemon, crystal onix, uncommon type differences, uncommon pheno differences. I remember that people used to talk about rumors that there was a "blue version of pikachu" but it ended up being marill. I would keep exp share, but I am with you that it should be optional. I would cut out all the damn tutorials. Today I loaded up Ultra Sun to play again after some number of years having not touched it, and Rotom Kept bugging me with stupid messages every minute, I would get rid of that kind of stuff. Wild Pokemon Events: I would have flocks/herds/groups of wild pokemon be a thing in the wild. And story/side quest events based on them. The Pokemon Anime gives some good examples of this. For example, a flock of Spearow led by a Fearow are terrorizing people and pokemon in the area, you need to defeat the boss Fearow to calm down the Spearow, and maybe you can capture a pidgey from the area, raise it up to a Pidgeot and release it back into the area to lead the flock of local pidgey to keep them safe. There are lots of variations you can do with this. You could leave behind pokemon you captured in some areas and give them tasks, like cutting down trees automatically, smashing rocks, helping reduce or increase encounter rates, redirecting a waterfall, there are many possibilities. Each pokemon you release in this way, and each pokemon you release in the wild should have its own Pokemon ID number that gets attached to the route/area you release them in, and you should have a chance to encounter the pokemon you released to battle against, possibly with the chance to re-capture it automatically or at least easier than a normal wild pokemon. Pokemon released like this might get some xp over time, maybe if they are too high a level when you find them again you can't capture them without beating them in battle because they think they're too strong for you. Bad Guys: I wouldn't rule out having bad guys, but I don't believe it would be necessary to a good game to have bad guys. There's only so many times you can "save the world" as a 10 year old that it gets boring. Things not to do: I don't like "check back daily" or "check back after a timer" based things, they are mainly meant to keep people coming back to games in general without adding anything significant to the game itself. Don't keep doing tutorals hours into the game. Don't annoy people with constant rotom messages popping up. Don't waste peoples time with useless stuff. Make the game load/run/transition smoothly from menus and maps, if it doesn't feel quick/responsive to go through menus than you are just wasting peoples time. Give people a "skip story" mode they can activate to remove story events and pre-battle text chat that NPCs like to annoy you with. Give people the "VS Seeker" or a version of it right from the start, let people challenge NPC trainers as often as they want. Oh gosh I think I have more thoughts but I ran out of time to write them all, maybe I should make a video.
👍🏻✨
I'm being serious when I say this: I would love a Pokémon game akin to Persona 5, where the game is broken up between building confidant relationships with Gym Leaders and the like, and battling and catching Pokémon en mass in dedicated dungeons/caves/whatever.
I feel like 4yrs is an appropriate amount of development time for new generations. Have dev team 1 working on the new generation for 4 years, then dev team 2 working on the in between games (Legends, remakes, DLC, whatever) for 4 years also. Then we could get a main series Pokémon game every 2 years whilst still giving each game the time it needs. We won’t get Breath of the Wild with this system, but we’ll at least get polished games at a reasonable pace. Edit: also I think 200-300 Pokémon is plenty for each game. The Pokémon are the part of the game that takes up the most resources and development time so cutting down the numbers to focus on quality would really help the overall game. 200 Pokémon in Legends Arceus felt like plenty and it made it funner to complete the Pokédex.
While I agree for most of this, and I get this is subjective, but I'm always surprised when many fans say they want a small regional dex. Like I felt the mantra of "gotta catch em all" would've spurred an excess mentality and wanting many to catching and play with. But anyway, I feel 200 feels too small. Depends on the gameplay I guess but Pokemon collecting feels like your background "final task" while your main task in the games is finishing the story, which means catching Pokemon means taking your time, and something like XY could've been fine. I hope you do support full dex compatibility to at least import them and maybe have post-game Pokemon that are outside of the regional dex.
my dream pokemon game would be to include all families (at whatever stage you catch it doesn't matter), puzzles for legendary pokemon, and certain abnormal requirements for unlocking quests for mythicals (similar to how ORAS does with some of its legendaries).
I want a pokemon game like Fantasy Life. An open world where you can be anything you want, in terms of pokemon. So you can set out to be the greatest fisherman of pokemon, the greatest pokemon photographer, the greatest breeder, the richest trader, etc, or of course the greatest battler or collector.
5:40 highly agree about having 2 regions man, the most enjoyable Pokémon games or at least best end games were definitely the games with two regions, so damn fun, and makes you feel like your only halfway done when you beat the “main story” ( first region). Better yet if the main story continues into the second region and isn’t actually end games but just the second half of the game
One thing I'd add on my perfect pokemon game is have pokemon appear anywhere eg you fly in the ski like oras you find flying types. And also like RSE when you dive you can find pokemon under waterm you could also add castles sunken ships to explore.
You know the video is good when basically everything on my list was on yours too. I'd only add that I want mega evolution back (because it's the only battle gimmick they've made recently that doesn't suck) and a Pokémon following you mechanic that actually works properly.
The dream - growing up - was always having all the region’s open and choosing where you started. Letting you travel eventually to all regions.
It would definitely have to have 2 regions like soul silver and pokemon following u and overworld shinies
Yesss...all of this! Idk why BDSP couldn't make shiny overworld Pokémon if they're just using the same models that they use for following Pokémon.
