$1,000,000 Barn Find: First Wash in 32 Years! Bizzarrini P538

This is a secret car collection I've been trying to visit for the past 3 years with no luck. However recently, I was asked to detail a couple very rare cars, Ferrari, Corvette, Camaro, and a Lamborghini to name a few...for an upcoming auction. The first was a Bizzarrini P538 which is valued at nearly $1,000,000 and is by the far the most expensive barn find I have had the privilege of detailing. This is the first wash and paint polishing this vehicle has received in over 32 years. It was parked next to a Noble with a Ferrari engine which was also in need of an extreme detailing. I wanted to call this a disgusting car make over or a disaster detailing junk yard find, but the Bizzarrini is just too awesome to give it such a title. Hope you enjoy!

If this place had a curator that organised for the cars to be cleaned, serviced and run regularly like most, non-insane car collectors do this car would still be like new. Utterly baffles me why someone would do this - it's utterly bonkers.

The other thing to consider is that people own car collections for many different reasons. There can be car enthusiast who love the cars buy primarily collect for the monetary appreciation of the vehicles. Others collects classic cars and drive them regularly, or even race them hard. I personally could not imagine owning those vehicles and not keeping them perfected, driving them or showing them. I know of some wine enthusiasts who never drink the rare wines, they keep them in the cellar and sell off or trade them. I guess in this case its not much different. Either way, thanks to the owner and Larry from AMMO for sharing. More please :-)

($$$$$) even just keeping them clean would cost a fortune. I kinda appreciate the fact that they were stored and not touched. It's awesome. You forget the fact that they've been sitting means, 30 years of not being driven, means likely low miles, original parts that probably are still fine, possibly period correct tires on certain models, etc, no fuckin ricer mods, not WRECKED and many other good reasons. Being that most of them are in neglectful condition is a shame but then you do not have to hire a maintenance service and your collection remains hidden. To us car guys its hard to look at but as a business man its very smart. He knew what he was doing when he bought these cars and left them in those buildings, quite the nest egg.

      @datsuntoyy@datsuntoyy3 жыл бұрын
    • @@datsuntoyy i highly disagree. Its pretty obvious wich cars will gain value. Ofcourse you dont have a 100% hit chance but 75% is more than enough. Each time a very limited run exotic is out you can be certain that the price will rise sooner or later. And by the looks of it the guy made a lot of very good choices when selecting the cars since a big portion of them at the very least doubled their value even if he sold them exactly like they are. Wether you agree with how he collects them is another matter, i personally also wouldnt leave them there like that. Id imagine storing 300 cars like this for 30 years and then detail them and make them run again is quite a bit more cost effective than having to pay maintenance costs for keeping them in collectors shape for over 30 years. So i dont think "he doesnt know what hes doing" is right.

  • While the collection is impressive, it’s a travesty when so many cars that were built to be driven and go fast have been packed into a warehouse and left to rot. I understand the joy in collecting rare cars, but if you’re going to spend that kind of money, at least properly store and maintain them. Jay Leno is a perfect example of someone who collects a variety of historic, sporty, and exotic cars, but he also keeps them looking new and driveable. This guy (or gal) is really doing a disservice buying millions of dollars worth of cars and then locking them in a barn to collect dust.
