This video explains the awesome, unique training techniques of Bruce Lee in detail. This is how he developed his explosive power and speed, as well as his incredibly low bodyfat and amazing endurance.
Bruce Lee trained using a combination of compound and isolation lifts, as well as lots of running for cardio and bag work for HIIT. He trained a huge amount and was always experimenting and finding new ways to increase his strength, speed and power.
What was really interesting though was the way he worked his fast twitch muscle fibers and mind-muscle connection. He was ahead of his time as something of a biohacker and used techniques like overcoming isometrics, speed training and iso-contraction. All of which we shall be discussing in this video!

    • @@nickkerinklio8239 He was raised by a catholic mother and a buddhist father, but he wasn't following any religion and when asked if he believed in God he said no. "Lee felt that anything which substituted the ways or beliefs of others in the place of teaching you how to cultivate your own was a step in the wrong direction. For this reason, Lee was opposed to the doctrines-or rather the dogmas-of organized religion." He was however not an materialistic/reductionistic atheists as he was inspired by a wide-range of religions and philosophies, from Taoism to Protestantism.

    • Training strenght and power near or above 90% of 1rm does cost speed and explosiviness. So most fighters and sprinters dont lift to heavy to often. They do sport specific strenght workouts and more hiit. Thats why i use periodization blocks for each. As for Bruce he was more focused on fighting performance, technique, skills and speed. I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times. Bruce Lee.

    • Bruce trained 2 hrs a day. Each workout focused on different aspects of what Bruce felt were the attributes most important to being an effective martial artist (speed, strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, and balance). Anyone has the time for that. The key is maximizing intensity during those two hrs and being consistent. I highly recommend reading The Art of Expressing The Human Body. It details Bruce Lee's training philosophy and shows the unbelievable dedication and commitment he had.

Kids and video game players don’t understand the difference. Fanatical weirdos get overly attached to their fandoms and they can’t handle those of us who look at Bruce Lee as just a human being. They just argue and attack instead of thinking objectively. It’s emotional for them, not logical. He was incredibly influential in a number of ways. Some deliberately, some by accident. For example: It’s not like Bruce set out to create the UFC but Dana White pointed out that without Bruce Lee the UFC probably wouldn’t ever have been conceived. The truth is we know very little about what Bruce Lee did. Let me ask: Why does it matter? Do you really believe you can copy his moves and become the next Bruce Lee? Are you idiots truly that stupid, insecure and desperate?

  • He trained his forearms daily for isolated kinetics in hard and wrist trappings where he'd lock an opponent's wrists mid strike(s) and simultaneously deliver a series of devastating blows between trappings making it impossible for the opponent to realize that they are being hurt very badly until the moment of contact takes a brief recess. These would have been extremely accurate blows by the way. We have not seen this level of fight science even til this day amongst pro fighters.

  • To put things into perspective Bruce could deadlift 721Ibs, the strongest pound for pound lifter today does 608Ibs. Bruce could hold a 90Ib barbell in front of him for over 30 seconds, he could pierce the old style coke cans with just one finger. He could do 1500 push ups without a rest, 400 one handed push ups and 100 thumb push ups. Having mastered fencing and Chah chah he could jump in and reverse jump out of any situation. Bruce was essentially a street fighter, he used his films to show at times what he had been through on the streets of Hong Kong. Having tested Bruce and Muhammad Ali , both fighters had the same punching strength. Bruce's punching strength actually came from his Lats which were abnormally large. With the use of his trans ab core and hips plus a slightly downward punching motion generated from his lats he could punch as hard as a heavyweight. He refused to fight professionally, and with that sort of twitch speed and strength he did any potential opponents a favour if you ask me.

  • If you're trying to train like Bruce Lee, this is the way to go. If you just care about his speed it honestly comes down to two things: 1- Strength training so you're muscles have the power to move at higher speeds (a 5x5 weight routine should be good for this) and 2- Neurological speed. This is the part that makes him so capable of striking quickly. Believe it or not you could get this kind of speed by going on the computer, installing a program such as Aimlab or similar aim trainers and working on your aiming speed in games. This will over time increase the speed your brain reacts and thinks and when your mind thinks faster, it thinks faster overall. Even though you're reacting faster to a video game, you'll find that you walk faster, when you drive at a certain speed, it'll seem slower than it used to etc. All that's left after that is doing some punching and kicking practice just so your body gets used to striking at those faster speeds.

  • I wrestled for over 7 years and the best forearm work out I've found was "The water bottle exercise". You fill up a 2-liter bottle full of water. Get a stick about 2 to 3 inches in diameter, cut it a little longer than shoulder the width of your shoulders, and drill a hole in the center of the stick. Take a piece of string about as thick as yarn and tie it around the bottle cap. Cut the string and feed it through the hole in the stick and tie it tightly to itself. When you are done you want to be able to grab the stick with both hands holding them at shoulder width and height. You want the bottle to be about 6 inches off of the ground. While holding the stick, with your arms straight out and the water bottle off of the ground, you want to roll the water bottle up to the top of the stick hand by hand, and then SLOWLY, without letting it slip, roll it back down. Then you can repeat and see how many times you can do this. It is important to roll the stick forward and unroll it backward then roll it up backward and unroll it forward. You can move to a 3-liter and even weights eventually. This has given me a ridiculous grip and has strengthened my forearms a lot. In high school, we had to do a pullup with our palms facing away from us, and ass soon as our chin would get above the bar we would have to hold there for as long as possible. I hung for 2 and 1/2 periods/classes, and the only reason I stopped was that I had a test to take in the class coming up. I don't know how long I could have gone. I know I wasn't close to being worn out. It definitely helped me in wrestling where grip and forearms are important. I know they use this technique to train for firing firearms also.
