When it comes to bodybuilding, Arnold Schwarzenegger knows best. His plan for quality mass and extreme strength isn't complicated. In fact, it's steeped in the fundamentals and old-school exercises that should be at the heart of everyone's program. It's a surefire road to growth, but it's fraught with pain and struggle. If you want to learn bodybuilding from the world's best bodybuilder, you're in the right place.
| Basics Are Best |
"The biggest mistake being made in bodybuilding today is that people aren't covering basic exercises," says the Austrian Oak. And by basic, Arnold doesn't mean easy. Many contemporary fitness centers are full of people on machines, not in squat racks, and big-box gyms often lack even a single platform. Arnold disapproves: "Today, when I go in the gymnasium, I don't see any of the kids learning about the clean and press, or the snatch, or the upright row from the floor."
Schwarzenegger's insistence on the essential lifts is not due to some grandfatherly desire to live in the past. It comes from decades of continued interest and expertise in the industry, and from the hard-earned knowledge that it doesn't take fancy machines or off-the-wall programming to become arguably the best bodybuilder in history. Get back to your bodybuilding roots and experience unbelievable growth.
| Arnold Schwarzenegger's Training Tips |
Chest:
"There are three chest exercises that should always be done," Arnold says. "The bench press, the incline bench press at different angles, and the dumbbell flye."
Back:
"For back, I did chin-ups, bent-over barbell and dumbbell rows, and the T-bar row. Any kind of rowing movement will give you that thickness. Those are the exercises I relied on from the beginning of my career to the end."
Arms:
Arnold relied on the barbell curl to build thick biceps, but he also used incline dumbbell curls and concentration curls to isolate his biceps.
"For triceps," Arnold says, "we did a lot of narrow [close-grip] bench press in the early days. And then triceps push downs and overhead triceps extensions later."
Shoulders:
Arnold's shoulders were built by barbell presses, behind-the-neck barbell presses, lateral raises, military presses, and dumbbell presses. "We always did presses behind the neck and a special dumbbell press which would stretch out the front delt at the bottom and fully flex it at the top. Now those are called Arnold presses."
Legs
"The squat is the most important exercise to create big thighs," says Arnold. "I did back squats, front squats, leg extensions, lunges, single-leg deadlifts, good morning exercises, and a lot of leg curls."
Abs:
"The regular training we did for abs was just leg raises, knee raises, crunches, and sit-ups. We all believed in doing 500 reps of Roman chair sit-ups."

It's funny to see , especially when they have the toxicity of a 9 yr old as you kept spamming that reply in different comments. *Firstly* I used the word "butthurt" as I know kids are watching this and I don't want anybody to get negativity from a motivational Video. *Secondly* What in the absolute f you think a man screwing his maid and cheating on his wife do with a training program and workout. Do you think people will come and see this video and be like "Oh Imma screw my maid , because I love Arnold" Even most of the people don't know that thing. You spreading negativity on someone's other personal life. As his whole personal doesn't relate to this video in any shape of way. It's basically a training video. • I genuinely think he might be the greatest man who ever lived. You get men who dedicated their lives to a craft, became millionaires etc, and it's ridiculously impressive... but that wouldn't have been good enough for Arnold. He got into bodybuilding and he wants to be the greatest bodybuilder in the world... then he does it. Then he's like "right, best bodybuilder in the world, tick... now I want to be the best action movie star in the world". Then he goes and does that too. Then he's like "Right, done that now... I think I might run for governor of California". Does that too. Not only is that all something very, very few people will ever accomplish, but also, if you read his autobiography, the hurdles and challenges he had to go through to achieve what he wanted to do were often huge, but he didn't let anything stand in his way. Literally incredible.

    • @@Zombies8MyPizza Interesting discussion I guess. I still disagree though. Arnold was only a master in bodybuilding. He was a successful film star, but not good enough to be considered a 'master' - definitely A list though. And as for governor, he did ok. Nothing amazing, averaging around a 50% approval rating. So a great individual sure, but to compare him to someone who literally conquered everything from Greece to India thousands of years ago or to the first man to ever reach space puts it into perspective. I look at it like this. 1000 years from now, Abarham Lincoln, or Yuri Gagarin will still be in history textbooks. Arnold probably won't.

  • I really admire his work ethic. When he was governor and he traveled to Washington DC he stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel. I had a company that maintained gyms and fitness facilities all over the city. For the Four Seasons I use to provide their exclusive guest exercise equipment for their rooms. I was amazed that Arnold requested a 9500 life cycle. At the time it wasn't a more modern bike but it was a very good exercise bike. There were times when he would have a bike for himself and his wife delivered. I feel honored to have been able to provide my services for such an iconic figure.

  • Ordinary people don't understand how INSANE the sheer amount of volume paired with the level of intensity Arnold is talking about. This is what makes Arnold EXTRAordinary. His body responded very well to loads and loads of volume at a fairly high level of intensity. You and I go to the gym and try to hit the amount of volume he was it would take YEARS to build up to the sheer volume let alone the level of intensity....Incredible.

  • Man I never appreciated Arnold’s physique until now! I wish I would have committed to working out when I was younger but it’s never to late! I’ve been 6 months in and I’ve come a long way since the beginning. This is so motivating!

    @koatikartpurrps1343@koatikartpurrps13432 жыл бұрын
    • Make sure to not give up after you get the beginner gains and stall for a long time. After a year it will become harder to keep motivated because you will see long periods of no progression. That's my own experience at least. I'm probably also doing a lot of things wrong, though. Just keep training anyway! It's the best habit to have.

Im really strict on myself with getting enough rest/sleep, working out everyday, and sticking to my diet! Theres days I come home and don’t feel it but when I look in the mirror and see the progress it definitely sparks the motivation back! I really don’t have much going on in my life besides work and the gym lol Feeling and seeing the gains is definitely my new drug!

    • @@koatikartpurrps1343 Keep it going!! I'm on the same path. Let's get it!! All I've seen from the Pumping Iron movie and from all of Arnolds interviews is that everyone motivated each other back then. I'm not sure that I see that at the gym I go to. I'd love to continue that type of motivation. Let's work hard and get those extra 3rd, 4th and 5th reps!

      @marcusterrazas6309@marcusterrazas63092 жыл бұрын
    • @@koatikartpurrps1343 it's good to have at least one or two weeks off from lifting every so often. You have to develop a feeling for that. Rest is the thing that makes you stronger. And for this to be sustainable as a life style, you have to take a step back and not be too strict at times. Think about periodization. But most importantly it has to stay fun for you. I'm sure you'll figure it out.
