You TOTALLY MISSED the significance of Israel's response. By minimally attacking an Iranian base, they avoided escalation but in flying almost 300 miles inside Iran, they also proved that they can enter Iran airspace anytime and really cause damage if they so wished.

This was a deterrent response. The intention was not to destroy and kill. Iran sent massive barrage and it failed. Israel sent 2-3 drones maybe a missile into a very sensitive region into Iran uninterrupted saying if we wanted to destroy you, you couldn't stop us. Iran militarily is not capable of wagging war on a modern battlefield effectively. And they know it.
Israel used inert Blue Sparrow missiles. These don't have a warhead and typically used by Israel to test their own missile defenses. No damage was caused, allowing de-escalation, but Iran received a clear message in how easily it's most critical targets could be struck.

They had every legal right to retaliate, it was the first time Iran had EVER attacked Israel, and given the mood right now had they not responded the Iranian people would have been very upset with their government. ...so, I disagree with your assessment. It’s a display of power and capability; war isn’t always about how much damage you can do in the moment but rather how strategic you can be in getting the enemy to do what you want them to do- in this case, Iran said it wouldn’t retaliate after this attack, which was exactly the goal for Israel. Israel sent a message and deescalated a direct conflict with Iran, that’s a win. The analysts at CNN once again miss the entire point, as usual terrible reporting
