Maddie and her mum get to eat the best honey available, straight from the hive. Not diluted or changed in any way, just pure sweet goodness that only mother nature can deliver. And for the curious type, working with bees is fascinating!
The hexagonal jars are a nice touch!
Thanks ;-)

Disclaimer: My mum and I have been keeping bees for 3 years, are both well read and have completed beekeeping courses, but we are by no means experts. We make sure the bees are healthy but try not to interfere with them too much. We welcome any advice and tips from fellow beekeepers and always recommend getting a second opinion as our knowledge is limited :-)
Maddie Moate Fresh, homegrown honey is amazing, isn't it? Great job on the harvest. Do you do anything with the wax that you removed from the frames? I've seen candles made from it, but it looked pretty time-consuming. While it would make a good bee/honey-related video, I don't know if it would be worth all of the time spent. You and your mom are doing great with the bees. Thanks for sharing the videos with us. -
Hi Maddie, vedio is very much informative... Am from India. Could you please help me to get the same dress you use for bee Harvesting. I have 4 to 5 bee boxes and do not have the proper equipments to extract honey. Please help me on that.

I like bees even though I'd silently freak out if one came near me. But they are very fuzzy, cute, and they do a little waggle dance.
Same. I tell people I like bees, but they get confused when I get scared when one comes near me. I like to admire them from a distance, just in case, y'know?

how in the world is it possible that you have been producing Discovery Channel quality videos consistently for THREE YEARS and only have 21k subscribers? seriously, your personality is that of the ideal TV host. you really need to market this channel. more. i cant imagine any other reason why you have less than 1 million subs.

im in a bee club after school and we often just wear gloves or the hats, or even nothing at all. Only three people got stung during the whole 3 weeks we harvested honey, and it was because one day the bees were requeening and it was quite cold. Great video!
I somehow missed the whole bee series. The honey-tasting video with Sally that introduced me to you suddenly makes a lot more sense.
It's been a while since Ive done them!
Gives you a greater appreciation of the bees! Great job ladies!
I like to watch this when I am feeling down... this girls' accent and energy always cheers me up.
Thank you so much for posting this video, my three year old was curious about bees and he enjoyed watching this and learning about how to get honey from bees!
My grandma used to have a farm with her family and they used to make honey and then the truck would come by and pick up the honey and bring it to the store.
I’ve started researching more about honey bees 🐝 and i never knew how much more work they do. Bee Bread, Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly and Propolis. I’ve had them all and still have some of each but I haven’t tried the Propolis just yet. The benefits of the Bee 🐝 is untouchable. I started watching KZhead videos for further research and this is the one I came across and I’ve watched it so many times. I learned a lot from your channel within a two week span. Thank you for keeping our Bees and teaching others how to harvest. They are a huge part of nature and we all should return back to nature for health reasons. Great video by the way. HUGE THUMBS UP 👍🏿
Thank you! This is a wonderful video for kids to get a better idea of where honey comes from and how it is harvested and put into jars.
I’m 13 years old and the bees I ordered will be ready in a few weeks. I am both nervous and excited 😝 it looks fun
It was real fun to watch how you made the honey! Always wondered how it was really done. Thanks a lot for showing us. Btw - I especially liked the fact that you "only took the excess honey as the bees need it in the winter". Cool!
So interesting! I had no idea just how much work goes into making a jar of honey! Thank you! 😊
Kudos to you for crafting videos that not only entertain but also leave a lasting impression, my friend. Your creativity is unmatched. And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.
I'm watching in early 2020, I'm so glad I discovered you, the way you explain everything makes everything easy to understand, Bees are really fascinating and I hear that Honey is the only food that never goes bad. I really enjoyed learning about how Honey is harvested from a Beauty like you, I will definitely be subscribing! Keep up the amazing work!

Nice video! Very informative. Is that honey better than store bought?
AllGoodThingsNetwork yes, much better. The honey you buy at the store usually is called clover honey which means that they only let the bees pollinate clove plants and it is virtually tasteless compared to the honey from free roaming bees
Also, large brand honey tends to mix honey with cheap sugar syrup from China. If you ever see the word 'blended' on a honey label, it means it's not pure honey
Wow - i did not know that. Thanks...
AllGoodThingsNetwork
AllGoodThingsNetwork obi . Stuff from home is probably organic so it tastes nicer without chemicals
Thank you so much! This is my kid’s favorite clip. She keeps watching and watching!!! 😅
Such a lovely video! I watched with my 3 year old who asked how honey is taken from bees. It was perfect for her (and my) curiosity ☺️
This was a great video! I've seen a couple of different bee keeping methods, always fun to learn!
Thank you!

Was having a long day, but this video brought my spirits up... Thank you for all you do ladies, very much appreciated :)
Don't worry 🐝 happy! ☮
loved the video. Found it shocking how all the effort from spinning the extractor and the you pulled out the frames which had only just started dripping honey 😂 it seems that honey making is a bit of a work out 😂😂
This batch of honey was particularly firm, it's not usually quite so tricky!
+Maddie Moate ohhh okay thanks!!!

Watching you spin the extractor had me laughing out loud! I do crush and strain. If you only have a few hives, it's much simpler and faster. You Brits have a great sense of humor, and I love the British accent.
This is such a great video - so fun and informative! Thank you so much for sharing the ins and outs of honey collection.

I love this video, thank you! But one question: What do you do with the leftover wax?
My family are beekeepers for 12 years and wax u can melt and frim that u make next frames
You throw it to the trash jk

Love this! So awesome! Thank you for sharing your process of making honey 🍯 ❤
I wonder if you can flavour honey Maddie. Are the plants nearby planted on purpose for the bees to feed on?
Absolutely! Sally Le Page and I made a video where we tasted different honeys with very strong tastes influenced by the plants the bees foraged on!
haha you found it already!
Maddie Moate thanks Maddie! I'll check it out!
I came for the extraction information, stayed for the quality of presentation. Subscribed.
I'm reading the book The Return by Nicholas Sparks and he describes the process so I got interested and found your video. It sounds exactly the same except that he doesn't use a brush to remove the bees. He only shakes the thingy :). It's amazing! Thanks for sharing it!
Reading the book Mad Honey by Jodi Piccolt, she also describes the process which got me interested in watching your video!
Meanwhile, your hair is loose and directly over the honey while spinning. This allows your hair to shed into the honey.

Bee: After all this time, I have made honey for my hive. Beekeepers: I'm about to end this mans whole career
Hay thank you . I just got in beekeeping last year I got 3 hives . I didn't harvest the honey last fall I thought the bees need it more than me I hope to harvest it next year .thank you & keep making good videos & good luck 👍😎🇺🇸
Wow, you guys are such good beekeepers!
I find it funny that you break into their house, drug them and then steal their food. 😂
you vegans should be locked in a mental ward and euthansied!
Ugh...I just love how you let the bees keep their honey and you only take the excess. I was afraid you were going to over harvest.
I liked the showcasing of honey harvesting and learnt alot as a beginner.
I love how she always leave with a smile on her face! ❤️
I would leave with a squinting face 😣😣😣😣
Lol 😂😂😂
Wait... Are all those 5 jars just from 2 hives? OwO
5 jars from about 6 frames. These two hives have already produced about 30 jars this year :-)
Maddie Moate Wow! No wonder they use bees to refer to being busy and industrious.
@@ShiroAndRin A single bee will collect about 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey. Just shows you the power of the masses.
I DEFINITELY HAVE TO GET A BEEHIVE
This was such a fun educational video. My 3 year old was asking me about honey so I looked up something to watch. She sat here and watched the whole thing with me!
So fun! Thanks for the information. My students and I LOVED IT, we learned so much ✨😆
3:44 I thought a actually bee was on my screen and I'm scared of bee so I almost through my tablet across the room
I thought an actual bee**
Bee:No don't take our 🍯 Honey Them:So who cares Bee:Fine take it we can make more anyways Them: Ok Me:that's sad the we're working for it
=)
I dont use a brush. I use a feather cause the bees will not get stuck in it so easly as in the brush. It also wont damage their hony cells Also i wont recommend to use the smoker to much when aiming directly on the honey cells because the smell and taste of the smoke will go in the honey. I dont want to sound rude or something, i just want to share what i know and maybe it helps when you work with your bees. (Sorry if my Englisch isnt 100% correct im only 14 and still learning Englisch)
Thank you very much for sharing! Now I know how precious they are for the honey I bought in supermarkets. I promise from now on I will eat them with great respect.
shes so danm cute. .
That's all you have to say about this very informative video? A comment on her appearance? That's a shame.
so i cant compliment her ???? .. i already know all the info she said in the video.there's 2 reasons i clicked on the video ,i like beekeeping and to see her gorgeous smile
Agreed she's beautiful.
Lol
You should put a a drill or something on the spinningmachine

The hexagons are so perfect 👌🤩
I showed a few videos to my daughter in preschool. I love your excitement!
Natural honey the reason why nobody wants to do it because some of us are terrified of bees which is me but why buy the natural honey from a store which cost like 50$ when you can get your own ? Pretty sticky situation very . But the golden honey though 😍😍
Jesus loves you 🥰
i like how this ladie explains everything
Thank you! You’re a great show host. So cheerful!

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a beautiful place!
Lovely! Your video gave enough idea to harvest, thank you so much. I'm new in this area. I have sunflower farm, I am going to harvest sunflower honey.
I have watched a load of YT videos on how to extract honey, Bee Keeping basics and the like. This one is by far the most entertaining. Nice one Maddie, another subscriber right here.
The smoke actually stopes an angry or alarmed bee from telling others by blocking thier pheromones from traveling through the hive
Keep it up you are doing great i got many bees and the way bees work is unbeliveable
Just started bee keeping this year, so happy I did! Thank you for this video ❣️
Interesting process, I wouldn't mind starting up my own hives. The only issue is kids next door sure like to stir things up. .
*Bee's 🐝* are hard working insects. They're the most valuable insect in life and serve a huge purpose. If you see a bee/bee's.. get out of it's way. Not to be scared, they're just very busy!
So much going on there Maddie. You love your bees that's brilliant. Warm your frames in a greenhouse or car in the sun when you harvest on a cold day. The honey will flow much better and you will soon out your frames easier without wrecking them either! I run 28 hives in Germany and my kids love you on CBeebies
Also take off all the honey and replace it with sugar water - hives overwintered on sugar water have fewer issues with nosema. (Especially those overwintered on dark honey)
Superb video. Anyone who wants a no nonsense explanation of how to extract honey should watch this. I better go and watch some more.
I absolutely LOVED watching this video! You're so full of bright energy! Subscribed. Cheers :D
Fantastic and down to earth video absolutely brilliant thanks for sharing
Your gate valve on the extractor is up=side down.. Just turn the cover so the handle is on the left side. When you open the valve the handle will be lifted away from the honey flow.
Noted! Thank you!
I love your personality. So much energy 💥
Loved watching this, you’re presenting skills have such a gentle and bubbly approach and you were insightful, all of which kept me interested. My friend is a bee keeper and since I found that out, I am considering it myself, just got to convince the fam and find a location😅😂. Thanks for the video. Gonna share it. X
