The World's Best-Sounding Drag Race: Lexus LFA vs Porsche Carrera GT vs Audi RS3 - w/ Jason Cammisa
The best-sounding cars of all time have inline-5s and V-10s, and so we lined up the 2023 Audi RS3 with the Lexus LFA and a Porsche Carrera GT!
This episode of Ultimate Drag Race Replay is brought to you by WeatherTech: www.weathertech.com/?...
First, Jason races the new Audi RS3 against an S3 to show how much quicker the 5-cylinder Audi is than its 4-cylinder brother.
The RS3 has the world's only remaining 5-cylinder engine, so Jason raced it against the first-ever production gasoline 5-cylinder - in its semifinal form in a 1991 Audi 200 20V Quattro.
Then it's time for a rev-off argument with Randy Pobst in a Porsche Carrera GT. Plus, an objective measurement of which is louder: CGT or LFA?
With special thanks to 034 Motorsport for bringing out their Audi S4!

Came here to listen to an LFA and a Carrera GT. Left wanting a 1991 Audi sedan.
Learned that a 91 Audi sedan is the truest supercar is astonishing.
Audi is garbage
They are nearly impossible to find in decent condition.
Dude, just buy a car and start modding it. You can make any car fast with enough money. There was plenty of money thrown at the 91’ Audi sedan…

6:52 Musicology student here: It's really cool that you explained the part about the engine producing a musical interval. However you got it slightly wrong: the perfect 5th is produced by a 6 cylinder. That interval can sound agressive, which is why it is basically the entire identity of Rock music. The 5 and 10 cylinder engines produce a major 3rd, a very harmonious interval which can be percieved as "beautiful" and is why major chords sound like they do. I'm deeply in love with that sound (and specifically the LFA), so I didn't want to nitpick but my nerd brain felt the need to correct it.
was thinking this the whole time
Weird how they didn't actually confirm this before releasing the video. Seems to me they were just guessing and thought it sounded clever.
LFA is a major 10th interval (octave above 3rd).
@@sciros Sure, if you wanna get really into it then an I5 produces a major 3rd and a V10 a major 10th but in terms of functional harmony it's equivalent and just distinguishing it is just confusing and unnessecary in this context.

It's Yamaha, man. They know what they were doing.
At my old job we had a high end detail shop next door that did all kinds of crazy limited edition cars Ferrari lambo etc. got use to seeing and hearing them all the time. That LFA sound is purely seductive to any gear head. May not be the absolute fastest, it's actually just beautiful, ease of maintenance and the sound of pure automobile symphony.
Yamaha did that engine a major service. Having one of the best musical instrument companies on the planet tune your engines and exhaust, and from the company that gave Toyota help with the 2J and 1UZ, they absolutely know what they're doing and have created with Toyota one of the greatest engines ever built by man.

This just shows that as time marches forward so does technology which explains the Audi RS3 matching the Lexus LFA for the quarter mile. I’d bet on the LFA on the track though. The Porsche set the bar for maybe close to a decade, still a heck of a ride, if you can afford the maintenance and repairs.
A very decent Lexus fan boy spotted. You’re not wondering why an entry level Audi beat your Lexus fast. I’m sure a bmw m340i will beat that Lexus and it sits 4.
@@paganizondasroadster1660 but it didn’t win? They had the same time and if anything the LFA won because it had a higher top speed at the end. If you have exit understeer you have to compromise on entry and mid-corner to ensure you stay on the track.
