In summer 2004, veterinarian Melanie Butera received an unexpected patient: a blind, dying fawn named Dillie. Butera and her husband nursed Dillie to health. Now, Dillie-who snacks on lollipops and has her own bedroom in their house in Canal Fulton, Ohio-is a daily source of comfort and love to her adoptive family.

  • "When animal people look at an animal, they see beyond the fur fins and feathers. Instead they see the beauty of creation." This captures my heart about 100%. You put words to the way I have always felt about animals. Thank you!

  • I've been a deer hunter since I was around 9. And I'm 19 now. I've always hunted in season, and never for sport. It's for the sake of food. But watching this is just sweet. While hunting in a tree stand I've seen deer play around in the distance. These creatures are beautiful and loving. Makes me a little sad that I hunt. But the deer I've killed help feed my family year round. Weither it be for stew, taco meat, or jerky. So, I guess I'm just happy that some deer will remain safe from the dangers out there. Heh :,3

  • 💙💜🤍 this video. Such a great story and how not only they saved her -but the comfort she brought her human family. I live in a rural area where we have many deer that visit us daily. We have one special doe we named Anna. She is older, frail, and limps. I fear she probably won’t make it through the summer, but she still holds her own with the other deer. She is so gentle with us and will come to my garage every day around 430 for her snack. She lets everyone pet her, and will eat right out of your hand. She lays under my bathroom window in the flower bed at night and in the early mornings before she goes out to the woods for the day and then comes back for her snack. What amazing animals. 💜💚 🦌

    • Oisín Mac Cumhaill saving them by killing them. Let’s see. If we didn’t kill deer they would overpopulate reaching their carrying capacity and eventually slowly die. As for any other animal.

  • It's sad so many people look down on animal life like us humans are superior. God created these animals as he did us I'd say humans have done far more damage to the world than the animals have.

    • Tony Eaton Humans are mammals. Deers are mammals. Mammals are animals. Humans are predators that have forced their way into the top of the food chain, and they reap the benefit. If God exist and created us, he seem to be a sadistic douchebag who enjoys destroying the balance of the nature.
