About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

It is so comical to see Patrick follow you around digging as you dig with your spade!🤣🤣 He is, after all, part of the family and each member is doing their part, even the children.😊 It's so nice to see the dedication everyone there has in bringing back the beauty of this old Chateau. It's looking more amazing with every video! 👍👍👍
Patrick is the Lord of the château!
Patrick's love language is definitely acts of service. Bless him! ❤
wish I'd said that 🥰@@kylieharrison3782
Patrick is hilarious..!!!😂😂😂🐕🐾🐾 I never get tired of watching him.
Can we just give a shout out to Patrick! There right from the start helping in the garden. He’s just brilliant! Love love love him. ❤
Thank you 🙏 😊 he’s amazing 😊😊
It’s so cute to see Patrick helping Terry in the garden. 🐶🧑🏻🌾👍
I am so impressed with the hard work of the young man painting you front gates! He is really applying himself despite the fact that it is clearly hard work for him!
I agree, I thought that too he was impressive.
For someone so young, he was doing a marvelous job. 💕👏💕👏💕 Well done!
BTW, the iron strap in the newly exposed cement appears to be a boot scrape for horsemen to get mud off their riding boots. Your family has such a terrific bond, work ethic, and a hilarious dachshund . My wife and I love to watch the digging assistance he renders while you dig with a shovel. Perhaps bury a bone in a spot you plan on digging so he can “discover” it while you dig? Crack on!
I love that idea to hide a bone for Patrick! 🦴
In there heyday places like you chateau would have had many employees to clean the chateau and maintain the grounds as well as run the farming operations. The work you are doing is amazing and to implement and put in a formal garden of that size. You all deserve a round of applause.
Watching the dog dig along with Terry was priceless. Love the way everything is turning out.
The discovery of the cement pad was so exciting! It's discoveries like this which give a more dynamic and comprehensive picture of how the chateau worked on a daily, weekly, yearly basis. I imagine it's helpful for the restoration and your future plans. All those 'just' jobs have had enormous impact. Also, the entrance looks cared for and inviting.
Thank you 🙏 😊
I love that patrick gets right into helping with the digging. such a good dog.
Patrick has earned his supper today helping Terry with the landscaping. He's gorgeous. Everyone has worked so hard. Well done.xx
It is great to see how all of you uncover all the history of the Chateau under layers of dirt. And great progress on the formal garden.
What a blessing to have a full complement of worker bees to busy themselves with "just" jobs around the Château.
The front wall is looking magnificent, Patrick is in his element helping with the digging. Visiting family are doing a great job helping the chateau family. Togetherness, is key to a happy family.
I'm from Montana, USA, and I must tell you I am envious! So much hard work, but such generous rewards! Keep up the good work. Tracy, You are my inspiration!
Thanks Joan! Tracy is an amazing lady! 😊
Verdade fico tao feliz de ver✋✋👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I love how hard Patrick works!!! You are lucky to have him!!!❤️
Many things getting done. Great job, team. Patrick and Sasha help too, as your supervisors. Patrick is right by the shovel looking for moles etc. Everything is looking great, guys.❤
I like that the front entrance is getting white washed to match the clean look of the front of the Chateau. The aged moss look would have looked nice as well, but since in order to do repairs you cleaned the front of the Chateau which is fantastic. painting the front entrance made sense to make it cohesive.
I am just so in awe of just how much in a relatively short time for the amount of work that has had to be done has been accomplished. I keep saying it, but you really are bringing the château back to life and to a level of comfort it has not known before now. It is a massively phenomenally good job. It inspires me to do more to make my own home even better.
I admit to having some skeptacism regarding painting the entance... but *always* trusting in your well thought out plans, I'm impressed yet again. Ash, your Canadian family is a powerhouse of activity... my goodness they all work hard. Please tell them Pat says 👋Hi from the Yukon. 🥰
Where in Canada is your family from Ash?
Everyone is doing such great work! Especially impressed by the boys - what a great family. ❤
You’re all doing such a brilliant job in bringing this Chateau back to life and it starts at the gate ❤
I love seeing pieces of history be uncovered. Your family did such an awesome job at the entrance and wow, artificial grass has come a very long way. It looks so real. xx
With each episode we can see the progress. The gates are looking so much better. Well done everyone 👍
Thanks Elizabeth 😊
Lord Patrick 😂 well done 👏 I loved this transformation! Just wow!! I love your visitors! They are such a hard working family. The transformation in the last year is amazing!
Well I didn't win the California Lotto so I guess I have to stick with KZhead but I hope someday I get to see your Chateau in person! The love, camaraderie, and good humor of your family and your wonderful volunteers are contagious! You are all doing a stunning job!
Looking like it's cared for again. Brilliant job everyone. That walled garden is going to be spectacular.
Glad to see fellow Canadians in there making us proud..what a wonderful group of family and friends you have as well as your hardworking selves.
They’re wonderful people! Thank you 😊
It's been almost 3 years now....and the chateau still surprises us with new discoveries. It's amazing.
It looks a bit like a crop circle right now, but having seen the plan, I know where it's going. You're making great progress. Bon courage! ❤ from TX!
Love Patrick helping Terri dig!!! Awesome work , everyone .
Wow! The entrance looks amazing! You have lots of fantastic helpers! Is there anything Tracy can't do?? She is amazing!
She really is! Thanks Terry! 😊
You can be proud of the boys, what a workers! I guess Jonathan couldn’t be there all the time because of school but I enjoy seeing him driving the tractor 🚜. Incredible progress you made. Thank you for sharing.😊
The artificial turf and painted gate walls look absolutely amazing!!! Great call on that!
Does anyone know what he was sprinkling on it? brown stuff?
@@juliemooney4115 sand - helps the blades stand up.
My God... How quickly the Cheateau pops. The first years, it was playing catch-up mostly for the first couple of years to stop the decay. Now, the Château looks like it was never abandoned. Pat yourself on the back one and all. I've been a fan from the first vlog, but I couldn't see your vision then but now....I get it. ❤️💯🏳️🌈🇨🇦
Thanks Zander 😊
With how close Patrick gets to helping you with the edging I don't know how he doesn't get his nose caught x
It's good to see Patrick is keeping his end of the deal up and persistent, too. 😊🎉🎉
The garden is going to be so beautiful. Love the design. You are going to enjoy it so much. The young man painting the fence is an inspiration. He shows such dedication and has done a fine job. It looks great.
the front entrance is stunning. I love the artificial grass too. It looks great. Very authenticate and probably much less maintenance. Great work!
What was the brown stuff that was brushed into the artificial grass? Curious
@@juliemooney4115I believe it’s sand. Used to weigh the artificial grass down. I could be wrong, but I think that’s it.
makes sense@@mikededmon
OMG! Terry , you have the sweetest little helper in the garden today. Be sure to give Patrick a good treat tonight.
Haha. He always gets his treat! He’s tells us off otherwise 😂😂
The young person doing the painting was so cute. You all are doing a great jib.
Ash, your enthusiasm for everything is so inspiring. No matter what the project involves, everything is "absolutely" amazing, or stunning. 😊 Crack on!
I love Patrick is helping to dig.
Always 😂😂
I am endlessly amazed at your productivity; do you have a big white planner board? Aunt Paula and the Canadian Cousins have indeed made great strides this week! Isn't it amazing how one person can do x amount of work, while two people can do at least three times as much? Ashley, I want you to know I feel every jolt of that digger right through the screen...😣 I can't imagine the multitude of sore legs and backs each day after the digging, painting, clearing, scraping, sanding...💪
A wonderful video showing yet another massive amount of progress. Hurray for family helpers👏🏻👍🏻🎉
Well done, everyone! It’s looking fantastic. Those dogs make me laugh 😆 with how they are constantly needing to be involved. Isn’t it great to have family around giving a hand with all those projects?
So lovely to see your family - it reminds us of Rob - so more speaking parts, he's good value ! There is a girl in the US who has 1.81 million subscribers, Garden Answer, and she has a plan of her property which is divided into coloured zones, and one day of the week is set aside for weeding. So there are moving forward days and a maintenance day. Tracey needs a John Deer Gator with a weather protector like Laura at Garden Answer zips about in. Kneeling pad, trowels. collapsible, plants, pop up soft bag for weeds in the back, a dog and cool water flask or Jonathan beside her. Has Christmas written all over it. Could someone return to Britain and work a bit during Winter for a deposit ? Watch 'Garden Answer - Plants with beautiful berries for Fall & Winter interest'. This girl started with videos on her back porch of their small home - be very encouraged !
That Patrick is a hoot! He so loves to help with the digging. The gate walls look stunning!
I'm amazed wee Patrick hasn't lost a toe...lol, Terry was so patient with him in this video, a pleasure to watch for sure.
So cute, that little dog digging to help!
Haha. He’s funny 😊😊
I always laugh out loud when I see Patrick digging way, his little legs giving it all he’s got. Makes you love him all the more 💕😊💕😊💕. I’ve said this before.. I love hearing the bit of documentary from you Ash, you are such a good speaker, very relaxed. 👏👏👏👏
Many hands make light work 😅 I don't know about light. The cousins have done an awesome job. 😊
So many discoveries and changes over the 3 years I still marvel at the work hours you spend transforming this amazing place. I dare say there is still a way to go yet but it is looking marvellous. ❤
Ahh little Patrick, always trying to help. He is a cutie.
Ash sometimes we need to live with something for a while before deciding if it's what we really want. I personally prefer the 'cleaner' version of the entrance walls. Great support team! 👏👏👏🤗
A great show today, everyone working so hard with great results, even Patrick😍
Omg! 😅 Patrick cracked me up today!! Nice to see everyone come together and working!
The entrance is stunning and so welcoming. All your hard work has paid off. Watching from Kansas USA.
What a beautiful entrance it looks fantastic. Ash will you be putting the name of the chateau on the front wall? The doggies are enjoying the company out in the garden. What a hard working family you have. Well done everyone.
I can't believe what you have accomplished. Well done all of you the entrance looks awesome. Ash when you walked through the door frame into where your family were cleaning the stones I thought the view behind you looked like a painting. ❤
I definitely love the fact you have painted the front walls for the various entry points of your driveway up to the chateau. It does make me realise how shabby my own home appears, even though it was painted four years ago. I think it is the 1970's replacement windows are horrible, I prefer the original ones. You are doing an amazingly to bring back life into your new home.
Wow the chateau entrance look's amazing and it's great seeing the garden taking shape with all the help from friend's and family it's going to be done before we know it,The chateau and ground's coming back to life brilliant work done by all and i hope you know you all should be so proud of what you have done in the short time you have been in the chateau it's well unbelievable the talent you all have or vision for detail's is brilliant take care all and see you all soon 💕🌼🤗
👏👏👏👏👏. Bravo!! Brava! Wow!! So happy to see the progress and how little 👑Lord Patrick gets right in and helps with the digging. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾WELL DONE ALL. Looking marvelous. What progress. Inspiring. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your little 🐶 doggie is always trying to help you guys! All the best! Thomas!
Such wonderful helpers you have. Painting gives such great rewards. Again Lord Patrick makes the perfect gent to oversee digging operations 😊
Oh, Patrick was so cute helping you dig!
There are several of these “hitching rings,” in our historical Main Street in the town I live in, here in Visalia, CA. I have a picture dating back to 1890 of a team secured by one of these rings! Be sure to preserve that! It probably dates back farther than that!
Thanks Carla 😊😊
Wow, what a difference a little paint makes, beautiful!
I love how the front gates look and how exciting to discover the cement area. ❤
Geez I love watching Patrick help in the garden
Love the entrance renewal. I think if the wildflowers edging the driveway were twice as wide would really give a wow statement
The refreshed front entrance looks great. Well done to the kids for their efforts ❤ The back of the chateau is so charming 🥰
I keep going back to the first videos, comparing the difference with today's. My admiration for the Chateau family, the wider family, and the volunteers for bringing this beautiful chateau back to its former glory. The work to date is a credit to all. Don't forget to have some time to yourselves, to reinvigorate. Tracy, you are Wonder Woman! 💕 Best to all.
It is so awesome to have all the videos from the beginning to look back on and you just how far you have come!!! Great for future generations to have the documented history from this period!! It is so great to see all the help you have been receiving to move this project forward 👍💪🏽🇨🇦
The design for the garden is stunningly gorgeous!
Thank you 🙏 😊
Wow!! The gardens and drives are so neat and clean , Beautiful!!! Great job everyone, I have restored many historic properties and while living within the walls of crumbling plaster and peeling wallpapers I always began work on my estate grounds with funny comments from friends as to why would I work on my gardens instead of the interiors. Your doing a great job and your doing it right, Blessings,
Thank you so much Randy.. it’s lovely to hear someone understands us xxx
I can appreciate setting things up to make it easier to maintain. I have a much smaller place it takes a lot of time to keep it up. Making great progress.
How wonderful of you to include the kids.
They’re great kids! 😊😊
Maybe the metal plate in the concrete pad is an old boot scraper? Keep up the great work!
If you take nothing else away from watching this video, I hope it will be that our next young generation learns not only from watching but from doing. Give them the shovel, paint brush, pressure washer and let them drive that tractor! What a fabulous group of young lads getting stuck in! We missed you Jonathon😢 I saw alot of paws helping as well😊 Its looking incredible out front, inviting and fit for the queen that is LaLaCelle❤
Thanks Jo! They’re amazing kids 😊😊
Just seeing this now. Wow! What a difference "A Lick of Paint" has made to the grand entrance. The formal garden is looking great too. It's great to see the intergenerational effort going on and to see the lift it's giving you all. Wonderful music selections Terry. 🍁🍁🍁
Great idea for the faux grass fabric. Looks awesome…
Terry has been very quiet lately. Hope all is well.
Very lovely main entrance❤. ASH. VERY GOOD IDEA TO PUT THE MATTING DOWN, GREAT ENTRANCE WALLS. PAINTED UP SO NICE. UR VOLUNTEES R AWESOME!!🎉
I enjoyed this video. Having the extra people to help makes a huge difference especially as you are coming up to winter there. Love the "Cart Park."
Hello from Ft Worth Texas, USA. The front entrance is really beautiful!
Finally have a digging job for Patrick in the Walled Garden. He is a natural
Haha he is! 😊
So very happy to see the front entrance painted white - looks beautiful. The carriage pads are a great find.
Thank you 🙏 😊
My God! Look how far you've come. Bravo 👏!
Given what a large group of relatives and friends accomplishes it is easy to see why a large number of servants was required in the chateau’s heyday to keep things going and they didn’t have advantages such as diggers and artificial turf. Was that sand you were adding to the turf to make it look more realistic? The cement pad was a fun discovery. Good work all.
Wow!!!! ❤ what a transformation! The entrance looks amazing. Great job on the gates as well.
Everyone is doing a fantastic job well done 🤗👍🌹💐🌹 Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
I am always looking forward to see you and see the progress
The grounds r looking awesome, heres to family lending a hand. They r worth a million.
They’re amazing! Thank you 🙏 😊
The entrance & gates are looking great, uncovering the cement horse & carriage area is amazing and the garden is taken a wonderful shape! Everyone is doing a fantastic job💞💞💞💞💞
Cleaning up the grounds has made such a massive difference, It lifts the spirits to be able to walk the grounds in meditation, dreaming of what can be done or favourite places to sit or swing, do you have a swing somewhere?
Patrick helping, melts my heart! ♥
Oh my goodness! So much work accomplished! Very smart to try to limit maintenance. I learned the hard way over many years in my yards and planting beds. I never plant annuals anymore, just flowering shrubs and trees. Evergreen if I can help it! I save the annuals for pots in important places. I also like to have something blooming at all times. I also use a lot of mulch! It makes thinks look so neat and keeps the weeds down. I also have an array of power tools. Blower, weed eater (strimmer), edger, hedge trimmer and lots of specialized hand tools like you’ve been using. Makes all the jobs go much faster! It’s really looking great!
The gates look amazing. Well done. I have a lot of admiration for Tracey. She is such a strong wonderful woman who will put her hand to do anything.
Thanks Lynn 😊
Your gateways have a fresh start and will surely develop a natural patina at the same pace as the chateau facade does. You've made so much progress in just a couple of years without all these helpers, it's absolutely stunning to see progress in the last couple of months!
Thank you 🙏 😊
