  • Jackie is a once in a lifetime character. There is something about him that is reminiscent of a dad. He has all these horror stories about the way that they did things in his day. Broke a finger? Pop it into place lol.

    @Shinja_Sleepwalker@Shinja_Sleepwalker5 ай бұрын
    • I think he may have confused breaking with dislocating when it came to the fingers. This was back when his English wasn't as good. The way he describes just popping it back in doesn't sound like a break.

      @chrish4439@chrish44393 ай бұрын
    • @@chrish4439 while that may be the case, inside the martial arts world, breaking and dislocating are often used interchangeably -- for better or worse. In this sense, although he is not an actual martial artist, it sounds authentic.

I was right, there with you with what you where saying about these shows getting crazy and you have no idea where you're going at, with it. 2:07-2:10 Good to see that things didn't get out of hand with you and Jackie Chan. He can be a very dangerous man and I've seen just how quick his reflex's are but his not like he used to be when he was young to dominate people just because of how easy things where for him but then again, its hard to say what is all an act but all of the injuries, its speaks volumes about himself with just how much he can endure but its good to see how much you follow into the story to make an enjoyable experience for your guest.

  • I'm amazed that his hands and fingers are not showing much evidence of prior injuries. A lot of basketball players, for example, have badly bent or disfigured fingers from getting those fingers jammed and broken. (I have a couple like that.) But he says he just pops them back into place, followed by a daily routine of flexing in a certain way. It's pretty amazing, but I think you either have to have a very high pain tolerance or a masochistic attitude to keep subjecting yourself to such injuries. Let a stunt guy get hurt, that's wiser. As for the drunken master style, it reminds me of Tai Chi Chuan in its martial application. A famous saying is "the whole body is a hand"--meaning any part of the body can be used against an opponent. You flow with the energy of the attacker, using his force against him, etc.
