A project from the 90s named Object 488 developed by Kharkov institute turned out to be more or less a Merkava tank.

Do South Korean tank. Would it be good against NATO Tanks ? Comparison

Wow. If all soviet/post soviet obj tanks is covered by this channel, there will be a lot of interesting failed tanks topic.
Play world of tanks or warthunder you will get to know more than you want on failed tank projects.
I think he'll eventually get to all of the interesting ones
Last time I was this early T55 was still the best tank around
@Ruslan Masinjila that is always the best tank though... ;)
What so never?
Kersh Jokes aside it actually was. Centurion lagged behind it in a lot of aspects. It only got some advantages when it got given 105mm gun. Not to mention it’s 100mm gun could effectively kill any tank before Leo 2, M1A1 etc. Numbers reliability and simplicity are also major factors.
Ruslan Masinjila When you take the joke and skyrocket it!
@@scudb5509 so how was it better than M60?
I heard they have a new tank in development: *Object 69* . *The Ukranian Arjun* , its goal being to induce their enemies into a sense of safety and get them laughing while they get flanked with other real and actually functioning tanks.
LOL
That might actually be a clever strategy no joke.
Being salty is not good , this prick you are seeing has brainwashed you people on arjun.
Spectre feel free to debunk him, if you can. I’d love to see contrary evidence.
@@thereyougoagain1280 Your man dosent even give evidence when he says that the composite armour is not applied on the area of the ammunition bin, he dosent understand the full meaning of CABIS, the pic he shows about the APFSDS round has a typing error its not 300mm pen it is 600mm , he also concludes with no evidence that the armour behind the gunners sight is very less, the only evidence he shows is off a video game and then he describes the pic taken from the game as "accurate", He then allows people like u to make racist comments on indians on his channel.he even depicts the ERA coverage on the turret of Arjun to be just 60 degrees with a pic which he made by himself as if he designed the tank.I cant believe that you ppl allow this pessimistic prick to hype and influence you all.
Make the T-80 great again
Yes, t-80 BVM is bad and sadly the t-84 oplot is not really in service...what a waste for the best tank of his time.

I would like to see the best export tanks in three different categories, 1. Cheap tanks. If you are on a very tight budget and/or your enemies only have Cold War Junkers and improvised armor, what would be good enough for that? Some candidates would upgraded versions of the M60, T-55 or T-62, earlier T-72 variants. 2. Good Value tanks. You have a larger military budget and anticipate on fighting a conventional military that has access to late Cold War armor, so an M60A3 or T-72M will likely prove to be insufficient, but your budget doesn't allow for the latest and greatest. Some candidates would be an later T-72 Variants, a T-80 variant, Leopard 2A5 or 2A4, or early M1 Abrams variants. 3. Best Tanks. You have a very large military budget and either intend to flex it or to possibly fight an invasion from the great powers(USA, EU, RU, China for example). Candidates would include T-90, M1A2, Leopard 2A6 or 2A7, K2 Black Panther.
Only 1. work for Ukraina, if you have a large military budget and can afford good or best tanks, you buy "politcal suport" or signal your politcal alignment in the huge wepon deal, good or best tank deal involve.
Budget aside, I’d opt for a Ukrainian E bike and a Javelin.
This was actually such a good idea i think it would’ve made a massive difference in the battlefield
it's a very hard design to execute well. Even for Israel, which is a rich country with excellent technology. When you place the engine at the front, it makes the tank very front-heavy and makes it tip forward. This becomes especially pronounced during high speed maneuvers. Israeli Merkava is designed for urban combat and is not meant to be a fast tank - it works well for their terrain and works well for IDF doctrine, which relies on superior air force to take out enemy tanks. For Ukraine, with vast open spaces and with very weak air force, it's the worst idea. It needs highly mobile tanks that can achieve break-throughs with minimal air support. Leopard design seems ideally suited for Ukraine, in my view.
They should have gone with a Namer concept instead. Basically a merkava hull, but no turret, or a smaller turret with an auto cannon. This allows for more room for infantry and their equipment. The APC offers the protection of a tank, but can still carry a decent amount of troops.
Torque in itself is pointless value. It adds up to hp when combined with RPM. RPM value shows how well tank divides its power into smaller chunks. Vehicles which need a lot of start up power like tractors usually have massive RPM. Torque shows how much rotary strength vehicle produces. Vehicles like trains need low RPM and huge torque engines which allows them to push massive amount of weight at the cost of abysmal acceleration.
7:10 you can see APD employed on tank. Active Protection Dog.

do you know about ukrainian project of replacement a turm in M46/M48 Patton with a soviet turm from t80(or t72 I do not remember details)
700-1000mm on the front? Jesus thats amazing by today standards. Only thing i think that got better frontal protection is the T-14

6:03 What would be the purpose of the US with testing the Oplot? Just to check it's abilities or would they actually have goals with it? Latter sounds unrealistic because of the weapon system.

Can you make a video about the T55 enigma and how it was the first anti guerrilla warfare mbt And will adding square radioactive armor inside the armored boxes will help since the have for slots for radioactive armor will it be good? What if the added al this modification to the t72 how will it be
You are wrong. Ukraine as a country has existed since 1991, and since its inception has not been developing new tanks, and even if it produces only for foreign customers. Even "OPLOT" is a modernization of the Soviet T-80U, it is even called the T-84.
@ coolstory bob. now go and learn history.
How do you get access to the engine to maintain it? Usually you would have large hatches above the engine, but here you got a thick armour plate. Do you get to the engine from below? And isn't it much more complicated than in an usual layout?
How would you get to the engine in a merkava?
The brilliant concept of combining Main Battle Tanks and Infantry Fighting Vehicle features into a single platform would be undisputed in terms of operational flexibility and optimized more efficient organizational structures and logistics in the armored corps. Sadly that is very hard to pull off on restricted budgets and limited resources. On top of that this would force personnel to cross train between armored crew and infantry to sustain group cohesion and clear understanding when establishing communication or coordination. The material cost and investment on human capital would be off the charts in terms of expenses, time to train, ultimately to yield both flexible and effective combat performance. This concept would of been a prime example of force multiplier, however, the cost would of been great and requires downsizing the sum of personnel in each armored personnel. Doubtful that congress would spend that much money on a high quality but smaller armored corps. Hope the Ukrainians found a way to go around this problem of reducing these high inputs and maximizing higher outputs at economically sustainable levels. Something to keep in mind on the next generation armored vehicle on congressional budget meetings and the U.S. Army modernization programs because it's money you paid for in taxes. Not saying, "can't argue with tax payers" but they are the very people the U.S. government has to answer to.
Can you do a video about M60 upgrade programs like (super m60, m60-2000, magach, SLEP, Sabra and many more)

Merkava is more like a super-heavy infantry fighting vehicle (I called it Infantry Fighting Tank) : )).
Recently subbed, love your channel! 🖒😎 Btw, I was recently surprised to hear that Israel has a new, single export customer for the Merkava, and will soon begin exporting that tank... Is the Ukraine that 'customer'? Because, while it looks like they may have borrowed from the Merkava, the tank you're talking about seems to be mostly of Ukrainian origin...
Tanks for watching
What bloody detailing 👏👏 just fantastic
What is the vehicle at 0:06 please, the twin turret APC thing ?
Interesting!!
Please Make A Video On Type 62 Light Tank Thank You😊
This sounds like it would have been a good armoured combat system. I suspect that the main reason for a lack of adoption would be a lack of funding.
Honestly I disagree...? What is the point of adopting this vehicle when you have APC/IFVs and MBTs already? This vehicle sounds like they want to merge IFV & MBTs .... why not just make Super capable MBT that focuses on its own role and super capable IFV that can focus on its own role.... if the object 488 would be really implemented, the whole armoured warfare tactics and doctrines would change
@@zayden4309 The point of it is for MBTs to not depend on lighter armored vulnerable IFVs to give tanks their infantry screens
Do a video on the upgraded Challenger The one that WILL have a 130mm gun. Please
Can yo make a video on modern light tanks?
Thank you for another good video. The tank looks nice, IMHO. I like this sloped armor. One small remark about the original Merkava: as far as I know, the idea was to have a second crew in the back to allow fighting in shifts.
I feel like getting any kind of meaningful rest while your tank is actively in battle and in danger would be pretty futile, lol.
@@tackytrooper It probably was a reason why they decided against the mentioned option

If you depict the Crimea as Ukrainian, your video will be targeted by the paid Sergeis of the Russian 'web brigades', even if it's a completely unpolitical video. Wait was that a T64 with T55 turet?
Well your English pronunciation progressed much since my last comments. Good job 👌
Imagine if Ukraine had a force of 400 T-84-120 Yatagan tanks, the T-84 with all the features of the Oplot-M and the Western-style turret with 120mm gun and optional ATGM's for it, and an additional 100 tanks with the infantry squad option and the same turret. It'd be pretty nifty, as 1-in-5 tanks could bring an infantry squad along with it, and each tank would have Western-style armor protection, ERA, active protection system, and weapons, making them far more survivable than Soviet-era tanks. It'd be like the Abrams, but at half the price. But instead, Ukraine is a corrupt hellhole, sold all their gold to the US after the CIA led a violent coup to overthrow their democratically-elected government in 2014, only produced 10 T-84 Oplot-M's for themselves and could barely manage to make 49 for Thailand, because they're just a money-laundering operation for the Bidens, Rothschilds, and Klaus Schwab and their buddies in JP Morgan, Blackrock, etc. now.
Yeah because Ukraine was less corrupt before 2014 imao
@@fabik805 Never said they weren't.
