I would suggest you refer to the local newspaper by the UVZ factory because in May 2022 they stated that virtually the entire workforce had been laid off because there was no work for them to do ; they were not rehired until about October 2022 when they received the order to refurbish T 62s and T72s . I seriously believe any T90s we have seen since May 2022 are probably T90AMs at best as they were 200 T90As in Storage .

Doesn't matter what the tank is, it's all fodder to artillery, helicopters, missiles and now drones. Tanks are not meant to operate in isolation with just ground forces. They are all sitting ducks to weapons designed to counter them. We informed people knew that the Leopard 2 was not "game changer" like media claimed. Nor would the Abrams be game changing.
1. That depends if Russian anti tank weapons works 2. Tanks are very much not sitting ducks (the Russians just used tanks stupidly). With the amount of air defenses and man pads, Ukraine has almost eliminated any threat from helicopters and aircraft. In this regard, introducing new and better tanks to the Ukraine battlefield will give them a huge advantage in combat. Ukraine should settle for nothing less than their entire territory liberated.

Partly because as said there's not that much of them and there's not that much of footage of them in Ukraine. Also soviet/russian tanks are literally EVERYWHERE where there's active conflict, western equipement not so much and if it is it's rather in professionaly trained hands with full air, intel and artillery support, so they are usually performing very effectively. That's why everyone was much interested how will they perform in hastily trained hands with almost no air support and limited artillery support against equal opponent.

Братле защо си го сложил този нацистки символ на знамето ни? 😀🤦♂️
I think the Russians have been very careful with these, we rarely see them in combat. They probably deploy these at the best spots on the front with the best conditions for tank movements. Ukraines leopards and Russias T90m are both in a very tough spot. They can’t use their best weapons very much for fear of losing their limited numbers. There are simply to many mines, atgms and artillery batteries for them to be used ideally now in this static fase of the war. Any assault by these things are met with mines beneath, rockets in front and drones/ artillery from above. It’s just super risky to use these.
The T-90 still has an advantage. It’s significantly cheaper and easier to produce, which is ultimately what success in war boils down to. If loosing a single leopard is equivalent to loosing 2 or 3 T-90s then you’re better off with the latter.
agreed!
@@nihluxler1890War production also includes people. If 3 T90 crews are lost but only 1 leopard is, then that's a loss for Russia. Especially if the better designed Leopard results in crew survival, to fight again in a new vehicle with more experience.
"we rarely see them in combat" correct, YOU rarely see them in combat & when you do its from a heavily edited video. It's likely used a lot cause its a tank bro.
@@nihluxler1890Leopards offer better crew protection. T-90's not so much. If your crews are losing tanks but surviving & those tanks can be replaced/recovered you are suffering less attrition. Also the cost vs cost strategy has been proven wrong time and time again. Its all about attrition.
Regarding the last point about the Russians not wanting everyone to see where they're deploying T-90s, I'm reminded of a problem created by having both a cheap kind of tank for general use and a more capable one for important operations. Namely, that the enemy knows the main effort is wherever those pricier tanks show up. Now, you could use the higher end tanks as a distraction, but that's hardly the most efficient way to use them. In WWII, if Panzer IIIs and IVs were attacking one place, and Tigers were attacking the other, the Allied commander knew where he should send reinforcements. The Red Army created the same problem later in the Cold War with T-54/55s, T-62s, and T-72s send to most units, with T-64s and T-80s sent to breakthrough formations.
When you are hit by a HE shell the last thing you are going to care about is what tank launched it.
@@AugustSchroif the grunts on the front line probably don't but the higher ups in the war room does care for reasons that the dude has elaborately explained
Idk if I agree with that. I recall seeing a video on telegram of both a T-54 and a T90 fighting within the same location. It seems that the tanks are probably just used for different purposes on the field.
Leopard 2a4 was in Yugoslavia against t55 some of them was damaged t55 t54 can shoot on 10km !

I'd love to see Red Effect create similar video on Leopard 2s Performance as well. We don't know the exact count of T-90s in battle field but we know exactly how many Ukraine got. The combat effectiveness of the Leapards at the hands of AFU, importance of crew training and the tank's high rate of casualty at the hands of cheaper drones.
True we have 2 confirmed leopard 2A6 tanks destroyed from 21 delivered and like 7 or so damaged... i think Training plays a huge role here as well

Well if that true that a good thing, because 4KM/H IS JUST STUPID
@@larryfoulke1596it’s not. I was a former T-72 tanker with the 6th guards motor rifle regiment, the reverse speed is slow because in order to have a high gear ratio, speed must be sacrificed. Therefore, all soviet tanks have superior torque in reverse compared to western tanks (and thus are easier to get themselves unstuck from mud/ditches). It’s not like there wasn’t a good reason for the reverse speed to be low
Dang, this is a really good video, well done! You just got yourself a new sub. Seriously, man. Great work!
I don’t think the performance of any tank can be based in confirmed tanks in the conflict or losses. Most of the time we don’t know the work that tank has done before getting destroyed, it maybe did an amazing job and even if its destroyed it might have paid is debt short of say, or maybe was destroyed at the first moment it saw battle. @@icezinho_ the T-90 got the first two shots off before the Bradley started firing and missed both of them, and then started taking hits from the autocannon from the front which shouldn't do any critical damage to a modern MBT but the autocannon manages to disable the tank's turret and cause it to spin uncontrollably and then the tank becomes a mission kill after it hit a tree and forces the crew to dump the tank. An actual modern tank wouldn't miss two shots on an armour directly in front of it, and it certainly wouldn't lose its turret to autocannon fire coming directly from the front

This is honestly a better analysis. It's a tank meant to do tank stuff. A better thing to focus on would be an analysis of how Russia and Ukraine employ & use tanks in Defensive & Offensive operations and how well they execute according to doctrine.
@notmyburner3225 mostly as fire support with NLOS fires due to a lack of shells and inadequate counter-battery fire. Also a lack of SPAA's, both Pantsirs and Geoards are protecting cities from drone attacks, not the troops on the ground.
It kills its crew when hit by cheap drone munitions. Its a flaw you cannot change with the T-72. And fundamentally, a T-90 is still a T-72.
I love you RedEffect! Your new outro absolutely slaps! You should let it play the full song😂
Old outro was more satisfyimg
The point about russians being aware of the poor reverse speed issue and addressing it with cheap solutions, like ERA instead of the root cause, the transmission is valid, but redesigning it and refitting the entire fleet even of just T90s during a very hot war is simply not realistic. If after the war ends they refuse to fix it, especially now that they are way more liberal about spending money on military equipment, then we can criticise them for it.
Yet they actually did it. Some tank crew even mentioning this aspect in their reports. About reverse speed of 15km. Which is not much, but infinitely better than before. Probably last batches had this issue fixed, but it's hard to tell. I would still put ERA there regardless. It's just smart thing to do. These tanks are not heavy, they can put a lot of ERA on them.
@@MrZlocktar guess that's possible. I'll wait for visual confirmation though, as i don't think the logistical burden of two different transmissions on one type of tank is a smart thing to do in the middle of a hot war.

As for the size of a "batch" of newly delivered vehicles: early in the war I read news that called a delivery of 25-40 Russian vehicles a batch. I read this first when a batch of T-80BVMs were delivered to fighting troops but i might be wrong about the vehicle type as it was over a year ago.
Yeah the deliverys are larger if you count all tanks, updated T72B3, T80's and so on.
There is also a possibility that some batches just not reported being delivered
The batch can consist not only of T-90M's. Also modernising a T-80BV to the BVM standart is much easier than producing a brand new T-90M or modernising older T-90's to T-90M level, because a completely new turret has to be produced for such a modernisation. Therefore it's reasonable to expect that T-90M-only batches are smaller or that T-90M's are only a part of larger tank batches.
Maybe I'm just swallowing Russian MoD and Ural tank factory BS but about a year ago they claimed to have 800 partially built T-90s in storage and claimed they were aiming to produce 100 a month, firstly by depleting the reserve stock and also by reopening all of their workshops. I genuinely think you are grossly underestimating their production levels although the majority of tanks are not being shipped directly to the front.
@@stevebuckley7788As other said, T-90M is a T-90 that is a T-72 on a slightly modified chassis and a new turret, this means that "partially built" can mean absolutely anything, too... So, not necessarily a lie, but most probably some embellished words, just like the US can only built 12 Abrams a month but can upgrade already built ones way faster...

BRADLEY GO BRRRRRRRR
In my opinion this is a great performance of a modern tank. Especially considering how many ATGM's and anti tank tech there is in this war. Of course there is also what you brought up, the fact we don't know how often they get used on the front. But regardless these numbers are not super duper bad.
Flawless segue into an applicable ad. Nice work.
The problem is that those tanks are very rarely seen in actual combat, I strongly believe that a T-90M in a tank to tank combat would prove much more effective then a T-90M used as support
in a ww2 style scenario t90's would steamroll Leo2's
The biggest issue is that they aren't DESIGNED to be support tanks. The T-series was developed for the doctrine of "throw giant walls of tanks at the enemy and overwhelm them as fast as possible". They were never intended to be used 1-3 at a time supporting infantry from a distance. They were designed to just charge like old-time cavalry and get as closed as possible as fast as possible where infantry-operated anti-armor weapons become far less effective (believe it or not, there is a point where the tank is TOO CLOSE and it is farther away than you would think). Sitting back at 100m+ only plays into the tank's weaknesses, not it's strengths.
@@panterka.fbased off what exactly?
@@Armoredcompany you are incorrect. Russian doctrine for example dictates usage of tanks as an anti-tank weapon in defence, where t90 can utilise its supposed range advantage over western tanks caused by usage of guided missiles shot through a barrel. As for minimal ranges go - arming distance of rpg-7 rocket is around 15-25 meters and could be less depending on the rocket. minimal range for t90 to engage a target on the ground is at least 100 meters. Charging the enemy is done not to get into the minimal range of the AT weapons but to achieve the breakthrough which is the ultimate goal of any armour attack. What they are indeed not designed to do - is to play a role of artillery and fire from closed positions. that is a complete deviation from a doctrine and caused by the lack of SPAs.
@@Stan-oc1nu ah yes, fire an RPG at a tank 25m away and let me know how that ends for you... The guided missile doesn't really provide much of a range advantage when an APFSDS round can be shot basically the same range and will arrive long before the missile does. But i find it interesting that VT4 is priced slightly more expensive than T90M, but again, depends on the contract details, unti price is affected by number of tanks, whether ammo included or not? whether crew training included? and whether repair center included? so again, it might not be what it seems. thanks.

It depends on what the tanks are doing. Tank on Tank battles are very unlikely, it is more reasonable to expect a tank to use direct fire to pierce entrenched positions over rough terrain. If a tank is out looking to hunt another tank, it will most certainly not perform well
Tank vs tank is very badass and the highest level of tank combat, the real deal, a proper fight.
sorry if you get this a lot but what happened to the lazerpig collab?
Hey redeffect what do you recommend for someone wants to know about tanks from detail to detail ?
Depends on what tank you want to know about.
@@burningphoneixlike I said detail from detail like from the ground up protection, fire power, Armament, Mobility like everything in a tank because in the future l'm thinking about to design my own tank design
Another EXCELLENT video RedEffect! Thank you!
Is this supposed to be one of those pro-R fanboy videos that LazerPig accused you of making?
Yeah. By the way, the only reason he made this video was to prove to the Russian fanboys that Russia hadn't yet reached the 200 T-90Ms produced milestone, yet. He clarified this in his response video.
3:08 Indeed the emperor protecs brother.
I like the lounge background music always. It reminds me of those late 2000s early 2010 Tv documentaries about cars and races. And of the game forza motorsport
Just wanted to quickly say Red Effect, I don't believe the ERA on the back of the T-72 and T-90 are purely intended to cover for if you turn around and drive away, but more likely to try and cover from FPV drones and other such rear attacks given their ever increasing frequency with the added protection incase of turning around as just a small side bonus.
The fact that Russia has been able to produce and or modernise tanks since the beginning of the SMO is amazing. Nato nations can hardly maintain or repair the Leopards.
Not to mention that tank never saw real combat in 40 years
Heaven forbid any european member actually had to do an accounting of how many combat ready tanks they actually have out of their entire on-paper fleet. People would be shocked, though that'd probably change nothing.

Can you do a video on the T-80 BVM please
i know the turrets are new, but are T-90M hulls also newly built, or refurbished T-72 hulls?
T72 but with added protection and different tracks i think
the hull of the t90 is shorter but wider than the t-72, its a completly new tank in that regard
For me the issue is the number of images and videos that the Russians show of the tanks they destroy and the little or no amount of videos that Ukraine shows of the tanks they destroy. Zelensky would show these videos at any time if he had them, because he is a propaganda expert, since he doesn't show them, he leads me to believe that the number of tanks that Ukraine destroys is much lower compared to that of Russia.
Good vid mate keep it up
In the latest update of the T-90m tank, it received an anti-cumulative factory visor and an electronic warfare system against drones, I think this is the best solution for modern wars.
Last week Shoigu visited the production plant again and the plant manager said that they solved their production issue and they can expect to see more T-90s and bmp3s being produced
Source?
Of course the plant manager said that. Admitting otherwise would lose him his job.
Well I certainly wouldn’t expect him to say he cant produce them
And wasn't there news that they we're stopping BMP-3 production to focus on BMP-2s? The FAR worst ifv in every aspect?
Well, if the thermals are capping production rates, then 5 extra T90Ms with sensors of a T72B for every 1 T90M that is up to spec is better than no tank extra at all.
Russia knocked out more leopards in a couple weeks than ukraine knocked out T90s in 16 months? 😢
Nope, Looks like about 11 Leopards knocked out and 26 T-90Ms currently. Though that's changing every day. Numbers as of 7-25-23, Also as he pointed out not all the T-90s or Leo2s listed are destroyed and many are probably recoverable. 16-18 T-90Ms definitely destroyed and 4 Leopard 2s definitely destroyed are the "Solid" numbers we have. You really should just watch the video, he goes over this.
@@AaronThePony any proof of ukrainians recovering a leopard from a pre sighted, continually observed, artillery/drone trap minefield? What is your outro song? Can't find it anywhere.
One thing that's interesting is that western tanks and Russian tanks seem equally vulnerable to mines and ATGMs, so it seems like the Russian doctrine of making lighter, cheaper tanks in larger numbers is better in this environment where losses are expected.
Except you can’t replace the crew. NATO tanks are heavily focused on survival of the crew. Russian tanks, as are known, aren’t focused on crew survival. In all likely hood if they get penned (they do) they are gonna lose multiple crew. NATO tanks usually will have the crew live with injuries. Yet the skill they’ve learned is so extremely hard to learn that a new tank is cheaper.
@@captainhellhound7451 I'll bet you my dignity that you have nothing to suggest that in this era of combat, NATO tanks have higher chances of the crew surviving than a Russian T-90M. I'm serious. There's quite literally nothing to substantiate your claim. Dead NATO tanks look just as dead as dead T-90Ms; turrets blown off, charred-black exteriors, fire and smoke shooting out of tiny cracks in the body, etc.
Comrades joining the Space Program
One thing people forget when comparing crew survability of T-90M and Leo2a6 is the fact that Leos have not been exposed to direct ATGM fire all that much. At least compared to T-90M. So while we can clearly see what happens when T-90M gets hit by ATGM, we have no idea how would Leopard2A6 fare against modern ATGMs. Only video of Leopard getting hit by ATGM i have seen is that turkish one getting blown to pieces but that was 2A4 at best and it’s single video that might have been a lucky shot into hull ammo compartment.
There is a video of a leopard getting hit by atgm from the front. Its low res but the tank clearly survives it.
@@scatterlite2266 Yep, there are for sure few videos out there, but not enough to make any conclusions. Though i do believe that leo2 is very resilient tank.
Leo2 being hit by ATGM is Syria and lost dozen tanks in one day, because additional ammo can be hit easily even from the front
@@trololoevThe TOW has a massive warhead which is common in syria, that's why there are so many lost Leopard 2 variants
Especially top attack ATGMS which the leo has probably never been exposed to cuz there used by their allies, but the T-90M is and a lot of them too.
Thank for your analysis.
I just want to ask out of curiosity. What regiments use the T-90M?
90th guards tank division mostly
Visually confirmed losses are not all losses. NOT every lost tank is photographed or filmed!!
True but you better believe if Ukraine can take footage of a destroyed T90M they will, and they will release the footage. It's the same with Russia and the Leopards or Bradleys, if the can take a picture and post it they will, and with today's technology and the amount of drones, phones etc taking pictures is very easy.
Yes but how are we supposed to analyse losses of tanks that are not photographed? Lo
Makes me wonder if all deliveries are confirmed, or are there more batches not caught on camera.

Russian TV showed a new model of the lancet, for group blows
Hey Red, recently a video become viral in Ukranian news about a lancet hiting a tank in the back of the torrer and it igniting instantly. And the discors has become Fierce in where is a t-90 or a Lepard and in reality the video is use as missinformation. Can you look into it? I believe you are talking about the Lancet hitting the back side of a Leo 2 turret. The tank was not destroyed, at least based on the video I saw. Because what exploded was a separate compartment where the tank operators store some of their belongings. Its not the ammunition compartment.
