  • Beautiful Boys & Sighting! It's great news to hear that the Skorro Males and their Mayanbula Queens and Pride are doing well. I miss them and can't wait to see them again. These Birmingham Breakaways are absolutely purrrrrrfect and I'm hoping that the other brothers will investigate the opportunistic hyenas to encounter and join up with this impressive looking boy. May you have a wonderful break Christof, we will miss you and look forward to your return and updates. Wishing you and your family well and greater blessings. Thanks for such a fantastic sighting before your well deserved break.

    • No not true the Ross males is the fathers of all of these breakaways males including the rare white lion brother as well, the Ross males carries the rare genes of the white lion, they all are 4 yrs of age and a few of them be 5yrs old in a few months, which is about the ages they should be wen their fathers arrived and mated non stop with those lioness of the Birmingham pride, the giraffe males led by Brutus & his brothers sired the famous avoca coalitions, the southern avoca’s were born 6 months before the northern avoca’s in 2013, Brutus were king dark mane & Mohawk father while blondie & the older two avoca’s were sired by the younger brothers of Brutus, so it can be a bit confusing because it was a lot of moving pieces going on around that time as far as different coalitions taking over various prides around that time, folks u can also confirm this all if u join their social page, it explains it in details about who possibly sired who and the ages of the youngsters

  • For anyone wondering about the different Birmingham males and who they are. Here is a summary. There are 4 different coalitions of Birmingham males. 1. The old male Nhenha with his son/cousin the Nkuhuma male. They are in the Sabi Sands. 2. The 4 young males including the white male from the main Birmingham pride. They were seen in the Manyeleti a few days ago together with their 2 Ross fathers. 3. The young Birmingham male with the limp. Son of Avoca/Giraffe males. He left the pride in august 2021 and partnered with the Torchwood male who is his cousin. They are called Mongawane coalition and seen at Shindzela. 4. These 6/7 breakaway males from the breakaway pride. The oldest 3 are sons of Giraffe/Avoca males and youngest 4 are sons of Ross. 5. In addition to that there is the Red Road male who is also a Birmingham male. He controls the Nharu pride in the Manyeleti, who are also Birmingham daughters. And then we have the 12 Kambula subadults who are all offspring of the original Birmingham coalition.

So question, I posted a photo of Stompie with all her cubs which shows just 2-3 month difference. These are all the males except the oldest male from 2018. Are you saying that photo from the Ngala page is less evidence than your subjective opinion about ages of lions?

In regards to the heat the lions endure as I in Calif , I saw on a vid recently a couple lions male and lioness in a sandy river not standing but with the water pretty high just below their neck a foot or tad more keeping cool , Ever seen that ? I know tigers notoriously do this but lions I was under the impression aren’t big fans of this , They were parked there not standing but enjoying the coolness , Pretty awesome to see for my first time , Not to mention smart on their part , Kevin

Then they were six’s for some time then the next two oldest I believe would wonder around but now it seems even those two are split from each other. Then these 4 if they are the youngest these are sons of the Ross males lions. Then the other 3 the older ones are most likely the old Avocas male lions. There is also another Birmingham’s male lion I think he never left the pride not at the sane time he was injured this an older 8th male lion also maybe son of older Avocas. So it was 4 Avocas sons and 4 Ross sons, but then still in the pride is the 4 sub adult I think just a few months younger but they are also sons of the Ross male lions. There is a white male lion in the sub adults.
