  • More Proof That King Dark Mane Is A True King! So much drama unfolding in the wild. It was great to get to see the drama as it unfolds. I love King Dark Mane, Blondie, Mohawk and their prides and the fact that he came roarrrring in to cause these big boys to scatter in order to help his bros is more proof of him being a true King. King Dark Mane is very smart and he knows when to retreat. I'm very happy that one intruder is limping vs my N. Avocas and I'm glad that the intruder didn't sustain deadly or more serious injuries. I would have loved to see the King run in roarrring to defend his brothers, territory and pride, that would be a priceless sighting.These are very interesting times in the MalaMala and having this strong, cunning lioness as a player in the game is great for the N. Avocas, she can take out one intruder by herself. I'm hoping that the N. Avocas can handle this situation without serious injury on either side. It would be awesome if they could go to get the Southern Avocas to join forces with them, now that would be priceless.This great and fantastic footage of this dilemma is outstanding and great coverage. This was an amazing video to end my evening with and I'm looking forward to the continuation of this Saga. These boys are big and beautiful and looking quite powerful. MalaMala Did It Again!

  • One of the most beautiful and mesmerizing things about dominant , adult male lions is the fire in their eyes that visibly burns through in the way they stare and survey their environment...the burning stare of lions that comes from deep inside where their fearless, warrior spirit resides. A particular ranger said one of the hardest things to witness after years of tracking and witnessing the lives of these animals was to see a dominant lion defeated by rivals and the subsequent replacement of his burning stare replaced with an obvious look of sorrow and loss of purpose now that the territory and pride(s) he'd risked so much for and beaten the odds to control had been taken from him in an instant. Such is nature, however, now that it's something I've looked for specifically since hearing that...it's amazing to see the difference in the eyes of a dominant lion compared to one whose morale has been decimated, especially in an animal so strong as majestic as a lion.

  • Firstly excellent video MalaMala, Thanks for showing their tracks on a map, really helped highlight the issue. 2ndly Mohawk is a crazy boy, he is incredibly brave and courageous and also super duper smart and lucky as well. Clearly he tried to intimidate those two boys, came as close as 200ms but when he realized that those two aren't running away, he ran and luckily had elephants to thank as well, 3rld Love DM, so glad he came for his two idiot brothers. Wish DM pulls rank on them and joins them forever now, 4thly, clearly there was a fight between 2 coaltions Blondie was injured hence Mohawk was alone on the 2nd day of the attack. Incredible video.

  • Dark Mane has proven I was wrong about his relationship with his brothers I didn't expect to see him and this really makes me happy There are many events and the futile Kambula lioness plays its roles in a distraction and maker of intrigue and traps, and the B Boys are waiting these two coalitions exhaust each other ,Then choose the right moment to strike their final blow. This is their land, their pride and their cubs, and the game has begun.

    @user-ks5ub6nm1d@user-ks5ub6nm1d2 жыл бұрын
  • The Kambulas hands-down run the show. They’ve kept the aging Birminghams and their shared offspring out of so many skirmishes and death by keeping and distracting these other males, Avocas, Ndzenga and others, away. Those girls stand the most to lose. They’re males, they’re sub-adult males and their new cubs. They know what they’re doing and they do it well.

    @LotsofLisa@LotsofLisa2 жыл бұрын
    • Yes, lionesses can be very willful and resistant to takeovers. Yes, it's probably a very old "trick" for several lionesses in a pride, those who have no cubs, especially, to keep incoming and/or surrounding males "busy" so they will ignore cubs and subadults sired by the established males or whoever; a good case of this is the Ottawa pride during the past year or so. It seems that 2 Kambulas were pretty well settled with the NAvocas and have no cubs with them yet; the Kambula here is most likely the barren lioness in the pride.

Better to run when out numbered than to get into a fight when you are out numbered. I am guessing it is not over. I can't picture the Avoca's giving up without a fight of some sort. I have stood next to a lion cage at a zoo with the lion looking me in the eye. The two things I realised are; they know they can kill you instantly and, they don't belong in captivity. Other than the few lion rehab facilities (Like the Kevin Richardson one) that are providing the best end of life environment for captive bred lions, we should be concentrating on habitat preservation and education like Mala Mala and other wild reserves.

  • Really a thrilling but a cliff hanger of sorts. The lioness was not only entertaining but very brave to come out in the open to save her pride . Hope nobody gets hurt. Even if they do , is there no agency to feed and nurse an injured lion. It is really heart breaking to see these magnificent animals go through so much pain in their last days. Just hope something and someone decides to give them decent exit....as it is not many are there around anymore, thanks to poaching and demented trophy hunting. One suggestion , if the lions could be named on the footage by some coloured markers it would make viewings more interesting. Sometimes , it gets a bit confusing as to who is fighting with whom. The maps and the written script made a big difference. Hope in the end nobody gets hurt badly. Waiting for more to come from you lot.....the brave and compassionate people. 😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    • I recently saw the images of Blondie (NAvoca)--messy, but he should heal completely from it in time, though he still has one or two limpy legs/paws. I think Mohawk and Dark Mane don't really any significant new injuries, and Dark Mane may not have been involved in any fight. It could be that the Ndzengas caught Blondie and Mohawk sort of watched from a safe distance being fully aware of the reality, if 3 Ndzengas were there.

      @private4918@private49182 жыл бұрын
    • @@private4918 Only problem with your last few lines is, Mohawk came back to the area of the onslaught ( no lion who ran for his life would come back to the same area even though he knows that his attackers are still there ) and tried to intimidate NWAS by coming 200ms close to them. Clearly, neither did he ran on the night of the fight nor did he lose the fight and nor was he hiding and looking at his brothers fight. LOL. Avoca's fought as much as they could and ran when numbers become too high on Nwas' side is the only logical conclusion, if not, we have to assume they whooped all 4 of them together, which is not impossible but highly improbable.
