Ask a veterinarian before its too late . I lost my 1.5 months old kitten today . She'was totally fine , but last two days idk what did she eat makes her ill , she refused her daily intake ,food ,whiskas supp , etc and water too . And my greatest mistake was I didn't get her to a doctor 😭. Please take care of your friend viz PETS , keep an eye on their daily habits, what they are eating etc.🙏 Always got goosebumps thinking of the time I had spent with her , she sat in my lap whenever I study ,her used to cuddle when I touch her stomach and neck , Love u my cat , May god have seperate heaven place for u .. Please take a cat not eating very seriously. We just lost one of our kitties to hepatic lipidosis in July. He was still eating a little bit and drinking water so I thought he was ok, until it was far too late. He started losing his balance and becoming lethargic. We rushed him in to the emergency vet, but he was so sick by that time, we had to let him go. As cats do, he pretended he was ok until the very end. Until then he had been alert and playing and getting his cuddles. It's very important to keep an eye on their eating.

@@gregstuart5903 honestly, we don't know why he stopped eating. He was still eating a bit, just not his usual amount. Towards the last two days, he stopped eating at all and he was drinking water. The ER vets couldn't tell what happened originally, but the problem cascaded. His kidneys were failing, he had hepatic lipidosis, and they weren't sure which came first. But definitely the weight loss he had threw him into a domino effect. They wondered if he might have had undiagnosed IBS, but of course by that time it was too late to do anything. Good luck with your kitty! I wish you the very best with him! Did your vet run tests on him? If not, I'd honestly get another opinion.
both of my 10 week olds stopped eating suddenly, I'm thinking it was because a change in food. One of them had bad diarrhea before that. She's drinking water, grooming even playing a little. I've called the vet now and am waiting for them to call back. I don't know if I should force feed or not.

With Tiggs it wasn’t so much the cancer in his lower bowel that stopped him eating but the constipation it caused. Over the 14 months we had him post diagnosis we gave him softer and softer food. There were days when he wanted to eat but couldn’t.

My young kitten I had just adopted wouldn't eat. At first I thought it was because of anxiety, but after a week or two, I called the vet. They had no idea and couldn't do anything but keep her for a week giving her fluids. I took her back and we went to see another vet who also didn't know. I decided they were useless for cats and starring force feeding her with a syringe three times a day, and also giving her water. Then one day she almost jumped up from laying beside me and stole a piece of my frozen pizza! The next night, she saw a cockroach on the floor, chased it and ate it. I started giving her regular cat food after that and she just started eating on her own thereafter. We haven't looked back since. She never misses a meal to this day!
I already knew we have a great vet who is very much a cat person, you’ve just confirmed it. I have had vets that were more business people than animal lovers, something Paul definitely isn’t. They weren’t bad people in any way but they just didn’t have that relationship with individual animals Paul and his team do. I don’t think he's had any new staff except a junior vet for the workload since we've been going there (9 years).

My cat was vomiting really bad. Took him in got fluids, antiemetics and antibiotics. The vomiting stopped but he won’t eat or drink. Brought him back again for more fluids. They seem unconcerned. They said give him the weekend and if no better Monday bring back and will run tests. Now Sunday and still not eating or drinking. I’m forcing water down with a syringe and vet is closed. They didn’t even tell me about what could happen if he didn’t eat for several days.

My cat goes through phases every few weeks where she starts refusing to her her usual food. I noticed that this would happen every time she threw up a hairball after grooming herself after her meals, or threw up after eating too fast. I think that vomiting in general just made her nauseous and she didn't have an appetite for her usual food after tasting it coming back up her throat. The solution is to just give her an entirely new flavor for a few weeks and she's back to normal... until a hairball causes her to throw up again 🤦🏻♀️

Kidney disease sucks we lost one of our cats to it a few months ago. When he stopped eating I had to use a medication that you put on his ear. He started eating but he was to bad off. The lump on his kidney and he went blind indicated cancer. Miss him so much.

She will be 16 years old next month. She had sub q fluids as well. The two of them together were like magic.

Agree. I think it's because they eat to much and to fast. Same with water. My cat Tigger does this once in awhile. Not often though. He's 8 years old. A ginger male.
I give my cat French Maritime Bark powder off of Amazon, about 5mg per day mixed on with wet food, 3 times a week. Has reduced inflammation in his gums so he can eat again. Good for blood and many other things. I take 500mg myself three times a week . Really inexpensive and will keep your cat out of the Vets office.

Thank you for sharing this video. There are other reasons too - energetic and emotional that can hinder a cat from eating. These are a great example of physical reasons. At times the energetics and emotional causes can THEN lead to physical issues.
So many reasons why cats don’t eat. It is not always due to a serious illness. I had cats for years and pretty much lived outside, no vaccines. They lived long healthy lives. So, don’t stress out!
My cat started leaving food, but I think it’s because my uncle’s visiting. I bought so cat pheromones, they seemed to work, he even stay with my uncle in the morning. I try to feed him the rest as treats. Other than that he’s super healthy and acts as usual.

This video is especially pertinent to me as my baby girl wasn’t eating yesterday after getting her annual vaccines. Finally managed to get her to eat a few hours after giving her some children’s Benadryl as per the vet’s suggestion, whew! Juno is such a monster when it comes to wolfing down whatever scrap she can find that I always get super anxious whenever she isn’t eating for one reason or another 😹😹 Would it be possible to do a video on what you were talking about re: dental issues? My girl is about 1.5 years old and the vet has told me to be very on top of doing whatever I can to help reduce gum inflammation since it seems she might’ve picked up something from the shelter before I got her. I try to brush her teeth with a brush and cat toothpaste but I’m not sure if I’m helping much - are there any techniques to helping reduce gum inflammation in cats?

My cat has gone through a change in personality in the last month. He was usually far more engaging, but then he had an incident that happened to him. He was on my porch and a breeze blew over a tree and scared the crap out of him. Ever since that day, he has been far timider. SO much that he will pretty much stay in one place the whole day. He was not eating much but he is eating. And he does not vomit. He eats his wet food and his dry food. He is just not voracious about it. He does not drink a lot either but that might be normal since he gets wet food too. He doesn't use the litter box much either. He can go two days without making a poo. He may not be pooing much since he is not eating much. Lately, i have set up two litter boxes for him, so that might have something to do with it. I made appt with the vet this past week and the vet did not feel any lumps or anything keeping him from pooing. Of course, the only way to tell if something was wrong was to take an expensive blood test, luckily there was nothing in the blood that indicated something was wrong with him. The vet suggested getting some pheromones that plug into the wall to see if that relaxes him. I kind of miss the craziness of my cat before, so maybe this is just some emotional PTSD from when the tree dropped outside and scared him. But watching this video made me think of my other cats that have since passed. My last cat was 15 when i had to put her down. She likely had kidney issues. She threw up every time i fed and she also lost her sight. She was also wasting away. The vets that i took her to did not ever mention kidney disease though, sometimes i think vets are kind of useless. They are happy to charge you hundreds of dollars, but don't ever give you the answer and your pet suffers. My first cat was also 15 and he suffered for a very long time, likely with cancer. When i finally noticed how really bad off he was, it was too late. Btw, they also charge way too much to euthanize your pet. You are already heartbroken, and they will charge you 500 bucks for the funeral. Thats the worst part of being a cat owner. All of the things this Dr talks about could or could not pertain to your cat, but you don't know. Being a cat owner is like trying to solve a mystery that never has a answer. It could be this or that or nothing. I will never forgive myself for not seeing the signs of illness in my other cats. But cats don't make it easy for us one single bit.
Yeah none of these apply to my one year old inside/outside cat. No vomiting or diarrhea, no fever, no recent vaccs, he’s just stopped eating and drinking. Unfortunately it’s a couple more days til I get paid and my vet demands same day payment in full so I have to wait and hope he survives til then
I've been sitting here crying because I found a wonderful little kitty(11 months/1yr old) that changed my life in the beginning of February, I adopted another cat from a rescue(he's vaccinated,neutered) and so I took her to get her vaccines as well a week ago,I've recently noticed she's not been eating,sleeping less energetic,hiding/sleeping in my wardrobe cabinet and just not been Delilah.. I've been worried sick all day and night to where I can't sleep,praying to God to help her thinking somethings seriously wrong with her,not realizing the vaccines may be making her feel bad for a little bit.. its been a week exactly today,she's was fine after but not eating as much.. but today she was hiding and sleeping alot more than usual and that's panicking me.. I love ❤️ her with my life,this cat changed my life,for the first time in 2yrs ive been happy,healing from depression from a divorce from a 28yr marriage.. ive got a gazillion pictures of Lala cause she's so amazingly beautiful to me,she's such positive energy and healing that I'd be devastated.. @Seven.And.The.RaggedTiger yup went to the vet today. He has always had a weak gut, the doctor said it lookes like he has a gastric infection. He's on antibiotics, probiotics, and pain meds, already doing better after 1 dose!! Ikr I can't imagine a life without my little best friend!!!
I had a foster cat who was obese. When overweight cats suddenly stop eating it can be very dangerous because they can develop other problems. She would eat and then just stop for a few days. They took her back into the shelter and had her hooked up for IV fluids. Months later they finally figured out she had cancer, but it was thankfully treatable and she was able to be adopted. Took even a vet a while to figure out what the issue was, but thankfully they did.
I lost a cat that stopped eating a few years ago. The vet couldn't find out the problem. I'm not sure maybe it was cancer. I still wish I had answers.

My cats labs came back normal and her xray looked clear, but I have to wait for the radiologist even though it looks clear, My cat is only eating when I feed her by hand I won't feel better until she starts eating, but I am relieved her kidneys are are normal.
My cat Larry stopped eating a lot about 2/3 days ago. I thought it was coz I changed his catfood(his brand was sold out and still is) so I bought him another different catfood but he didnt like that either. He'd eat a little but leave most behind. Then I gave him stuff I know he likes.. stuff like cooked chicken, ham etc. Food he loves and he wont eat that either so that has me worried its more then the food change.. He eats a little bit but normally Larry wont stop eating. Whereas now he eats only a tiny bit. He vomitted about 2days ago as well and is very quiet. When he is quiet like this it usually means he is unwell. I think his belly might be sore to touch as today I petted him there and he seemed sensitive. He isnt losing weight tho. Still massive. I recently did a slight food change for my 17 year old cat, he's always had a good appetite. Yesterday he only ate about 1/4 of a cup, and today has walked away from his bowl a few times; it seems like he hasn't eaten much again today. I did read that the warmer weather can make them eat less. There's also a good possibility his teeth are bothering him.
My Fur Brat gets $45.00 4lb. bags of Hill's prescription diet C/D. I switched to their "stress" formula.
They are desert creatures and enjoy warm weather, so it’s likely another cause. I hope your kitty is alright 🙏🏼

Not a comment but a concern. Cali is a almost 3yr. old female Calico in perfect health (( so far )) who can be a fussy eater, but now I'm dealing with a bad infestation of cockroaches and have not been able to resolve it. Most pesticides are of course NOT safe for cats, and she has not been exposed to them; however she does have Pica, which my Veterinarian will not address. I watch her stare at her food in disgust while these roaches feast on her food, and if she doesn't eat as soon as I put her bowl down, they take over. My building has had this issue for years and apparently some people are not bothered by it, owner included. Help! And many thanks, great advice.
We have an older cat outdoors that has been trying to eat but hasn’t ate much at all . He’s got really bad allergies going on and breathing has been a little deep like our drainage mucus buildup. And he’s been having a drool going on pretty bad breath and not in the best of health. I don’t want to lose him.

My two year old cats are not eating their usual food now but they'ved been eating it eversince thwy were born.
My cat for the last two months is grooming himself excessively, heavily and even noisily. He bits himself on the back, pulling hair out. I check and comb him for fleas everyday, have found 1 or 2 fleas on him every once a while. I brush him 2-3 times a day which he really enjoys, but he still is bothered by something. That could be nerves. Or a behavioural disorder. Or something more serious. Have you taken him to the vet? Once you rule out nothing medically wrong you may want to consider seeing a cat behaviourist. Hope everything works out for you and kitty and it’s nothing serious!!
Came back from vet today because cat has been losing a lot of weight and completely stopped eating for 2 days… Vet told us to prepare for the unfortunate farewell… 😢😭

My cat is three years old, he just started to stop eating and sleeping all day didn’t even drink. I recently brought him to the vet and they didn’t find anything wrong but air in his intestines. They said they didn’t know why and I didn’t have any money for other different tests. They gave me pain medicine and nausea medicine and he stills throws up the little food I make him eat. My kitten stop eating for two days. He also stop playing and was just lethargic. Two times vomit his food. No sneezing or signs of cold and i started to panic. I took him to a vet. The vet said he had a slight fever and suggested i give him a tablet to open his appetite some antibiotics and something for nausea. I tried so hard to feed him the antibiotics. The next morning he cough up a tiny rubber band. Then he was back to playing etc. But he still will not eat but just drink water. Thank god he threw up that elastic band.

@@lesleyhinsdale5636 We’re not exactly sure. They think it could’ve been that she ate something different but we fed her the same food. She vomited and wouldn’t eat since then. They did a surgery and didn’t find anything but she still wouldn’t eat so they kept her overnight on the drip. She’s fine now though which is good but we’re still not sure why she wouldn’t eat cuz her x-rays and blood test results weren’t concerning at all 🤷♀️

I have an outdoor cat , and I give her food everytime I see her and she normaly loves it and eats whatever I give her, but right now is the third day that she didn't eat her food one bit and just drinks the water and ALOT.. what should I do if she has a kidney desease? I just got a young cat, she has been with me for a month. I got her from the shelter, they gave her a vaccine before she came. I would love to fatten her up because she is thin. She eats very little like a bird for the most part. I've tried different foods and still she doesn't eat much. I wonder how I can fatten her up to a normal weight?? Other than that she's active and runs around a lot, is very affectionate, poops every second day for the most part. I think that is because her food intake is below average.
Cats are very sensitive to food changes. A manufacturer's slight change in the formula will make a picky eater stop eating. This happened to our cat bc RC changed the food formula due to productions issues. Our cat lost 7 pounds in 6 months. All lab work came back normal except for unusually low thyroid. The only change was I bought a new bag of RC digestive care. Now she only eats tiny pieces of wet food. We don't expect her to last long.

My baby passed in November, sadly. I searched high and low for the old formula and bought many other brands. She tried all of them, a few times. Never really liked any of them. The heartbreaking thing is, I feel bad because she might have thought I didn't want to give her her favorite food. In the end, she was so skinny the vet said it was time to put her to sleep. I am still mourning but I know she's in a good place. No need for RC in kitty heaven. 😺
My cat loves the chicken and beef flavor can food. So 1 time I got him the beef and chicken can food. He threw up on it . He would not eat the chicken only food. Will go hungry for 24 hours. Finally start eating that type.
I have a bengal 11 years old...the last 3 days he's only eaten tuna juice from a can once on day 2 ...he's drinking water but not eating....he has diarrhea and using litterbox...he threw up 3-4 times on day 1 and 2 of not eating it was clear white foam....other then not eating he still purrs lays with me and walks around seemingly fine not in pain.....he jus isn't eaten or playing...day 3 he's drinking more water...but not eaten still....took him to vet on day 4 blood work said his kidneys are fine ...and has no pain in stomach.....he weighs 11lbs

My cat went to vet after throwing up. Had meds, now off meds and she will only eat a little bit, no diarrhea. Vet said all her organs felt fine. Will she be ok just eating a little bit of food here and there?
For my cat it appears to be autoimmune hemolytic anemia. He had an operation to have some foreign objects he had eaten removed. After the operation he seemed to recover fast, but then he stopped eating again, and the vet did a smear test and found his red blood cells to be breaking apart. It turns out that autoimmune hemolytic anemia is a common problem with Abyssinians, and my cat is an Ocicat that is half Abyssinian.
My cat is 12 years old. He has always been picky so two months ago when he started to refuse food I said again, he needs another type of food. I have changed his food and nothing he lost 4 pounds and I can't make him eat. I have a vet's appointment in two days but I am so worried. He eats less than two spoons at a time now. He used to eat two cans. Down to one if not less. No vomiting or diarrhea though.

I could come up with a hundred reasons why my animal is having health issues between myself and searching the internet. Instead of going through a checklist I could actually take my animal to a vet. I bet that would help.
My cat just came from the vet. Full comprehensive exam with blood work. Everything looks good. She just stopped eating as much. I'll take her back to the vet though.

My cat went blind overnight for some reason and will absolutely refuse to eat. If we won't force feed her, she will die. We got pills by the vet to make her hungry, but even that will not work. We think she is severely depressed and that causes the problem, because her body is healthy otherwise. Unfortunately it looks like the end of the road for us. Very sad...

My cat (1.8 year) returned home day before yesterday after 5 days with an Eye infection and a deep wound in his right thigh. May be from a brawl. I applied Iodine-Pyridoxine ointment on the wound and Ciprofloxacin eye drops. But he has completely stopped eating & drinking and sleeps all the time in the last 2 days. A superb remedy for those cats not consuming food properly and losing their weight is.....just boil chicken liver with turmeric powder and pinches of salt ..just mash slightly and give them...they will love it...and gain weight for sure...my personal experience...or make soup with that liver and feed them through filler if they r so feable...this idea only for non veg cats.😉.

Hi, I think my cat got bones stuck in his throat. He was sleeping all this morning which is not usual and when I approach him he has guarding behavior when I touch his neck area. I then tried to open his mouth but I couldn't see anything. I also tried to place the food beside him but he wasn't touching it or eating it. What should I do?
Take the cat to the vet. It may be something stuck in the throat or dental issues its better to check. If anything is stuck in the throat its dangerous and may require surgery. I hope your cat feels better very soon

I noticed my cat yesterday not eating but drank water and kinda Acting normal being alert ect even sit on my gut while i was laying down and he was not looking tired but I noticed some weight loss as well, I'm taking him for an exam on Tuesday the 25th of October, see what they recommend, it's like 4 days away. Being the 21st, is that too long of a wait or should I take him to the ER? He's not throwing up or anything.

Mine isn't eating as he's got breathing issues got him shot at vet had broken tooth as well. It looks like hairballs but cat started throwing up and sneezing. I'm hoping it's just a chest infection but needed the vet sooner than I realised. I'd gotten some antibiotics from a betshop but cat couldn't take because of nausea. The shot was less upsetting for him.
My 2 cays are so fussy they will eat a couples of pouches of food and then turn their noses up at it, there is a lot of waste can I let them go hungry for a while?
Depends on what you consider "a while"! You can let your cats remain hungry for the day and see if that increases their appetite, but generally, pickiness is not the result of the cat not being hungry enough. You might want to introduce more variety or try out some different flavors.
My cat Vision is also not eating, drinking, and just laying down. His eyes look a little funky. If i put a soft treat on his lips he eats it i also started giving liquid using a dropper. He is 10 months old.

My cat was just diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and he doesn't like the special foods. I tried multiple samples and found one he liked until I bought a case of it and now he won't eat it. I've tried mixing it, putting out various bowls and everything I can think of. Isn't there just something I can add to it that is irresistible? To make things worse, I have 3 cats and I try giving different kinds of foods but as soon as I look away they are at each other's bowls. And my kidney cat has developed chin acne and I haven't been successful at giving subcutaneous fluids yet. I need an extra hand but I'm alone.

Our cat was diagnosed with Diabetes a couple months ago and requires insulin shots 2 times a day and our vet asked we start feeding her diabetic cat food. Recently we left for a weekend trip and we came back and now she won't eat. However, she still eats her cat treats. Our suspicion is, the person who was tasked to look after our cat, fed her way too many treats and now she doesn't want her diabetic food. We are trying to wait her out hoping she'll eat her food, but it's been days and she still eats her treats when we test her. My guess is we need to get better cat food and mix it in with her diabetic food?? Thoughts??

I've powdered some deworming tabs and mixed them with water and fed her with a syringe. The neighbors can see the cat is ill. I am old and disabled, barely making ends meet. There is no way I can afford a vet..Especially if the condition is complicated. THe free / low cost clinics are hard to access for me. The cat is over 13 years old, I think I will either have to leave her at a shelter that may get her some help, or just put her down. So sad either way loosing a long term friend.

My 10yr old perfectly healthy Cat stopped eating after a week of reduced eating. All tests came back normal( CBC, ultrasound, X-rays, urinalysis, thyroid) now at week 2 and still not eating, force feed but he is getting very resistant to that. There are no other symptoms(no vomiting, diarrhea). Took to 3 vets and all are puzzled. Even appetite stimulant don’t work.he is now anorexic. He is given subQ fluids for now but if there is no change..he is going to die and nobody knows what’s wrong
