    • My cat regularly brings up furballs especially during the warmer summer months even tho I brush her regularly. She has just turned 14 and has always been fed dry food in the morning which she tends to snack on until lunchtime and wet food at night. I also give her the occasional treat (especially after clipping her nails lol)

    • @@RomanoPRODUCTION Go slow with me here, I'm not an expert in cat anatomy, even though she addressed regurgitation vs vomiting, and this video was about vomiting, is regurgitation not from the stomach/intestines but esophagus/mouth? I've seen some pretty wet chunk blows from cats that was obviously a pretty large hairball, along with some violent spasms for them to eject it. My recent new batch of itty bitty kitty committee has one that definitely appears from not liking a certain brand of kibble. She doesnt seem to hurl when we switch to a different brand.

  • My 12 year old cat just passed away yesterday. He was vomiting for almost a week (probably once or twice every day or 2, but got worse over the weekend). I thought it was because he ate too fast or because he ate something he shouldn’t. I took him to the vet office and they thought it was because of parasites or an infection. I wasn’t happy with that and went to another vet for a second opinion. They thought it was an intestinal obstruction, but after some tests it turned out to be eosinophilic enteritis, the intestines were so swollen that nothing passed through. The vets took a piece of his intestines but my cat didn’t recover after the surgery, as the tissue was too fragile because of the inflammation 💔 please, take care of your cats and don’t ever think it is normal for them to vomit, better take them to the vet for a check

  • One of my cats was vomiting several times a day for a long time. During that time I took him in for several tests at the vet but no one could pinpoint the problem. They thought it was just caused by his hyperthyroidism although he was getting his meds twice a day. One vet finally looked at all of the tests and came to the conclusion that the only thing it could be was intestinal lymphoma...cancer of the intestines. My poor Kitty was throwing up black vomit because of blood in his vomit. He was getting thinner and thinner and thinner. I'm so grateful to that vet for putting all the puzzle pieces together and figuring out what was wrong. I had a service come in who could euthanize him here at home while I was holding him. He was a dear sweet kitty cat and I miss him.

If you look up "home veterinary euthanasia services" or call some of your local vets I'm sure you'll be able to find a service that will come out at the appointed time that you give them and walk through the process with you and put Mr Ritter to sleep. • My cat started vomiting continuously one morning. Was crying like he was in pain. Over the previous months he had been vomiting a couple times a week. Once the acute vomiting started I took him right into the vet. They gave him fluids antibiotics, and antiemetic and send us home. He vomited a few more times at home and then continued to cry and drool ALOT. Took him back the next morning for more fluids. He wouldn’t eat or drink for 3 days. Finally the vet decided keeping him and running some test was in order. After an ultrasound, the vet called me and said they found a huge mass in the abdomen and he would need surgery right away. Turned out he had a huge abscess caused by acute pancreatitis. They kept him as long as they could there for IV fluids and antibiotics...about 3 days. After that he was feeling a bit better and would not let the staff near him. I took him home and stayed up with him 24/7, trying to get him to eat or drink. It took several days but finally he would take little bites of food. Once he was eating a but, several days later , he slowly started to drink water. It’s been several months now and he is his normal self. I can’t imagine...if I had waited...he wouldn’t have made it. So, it’s always good to taken them in just to be sure.

    • The news is saying now that cats should never eat kibble. It will shorten their lives for what they have in it. So if you love your cats quit feeding them kibble or dry food especially from the big pet food industries. In case some of you don't know this, their sinister plan to cull humans from the planet also includes our pets who they say are only living half the years they have in the past. Going from somewhere around 17 yrs to about 9 now!?

  • My 13/14 year old senior cat started vomiting with diarrhea last Spring and was diagnosed with IBD (confirmed through surgical biopsy). She had to go on a 'novel" diet and of course the vet wanted to start her on one of the Hill's Science Prescription Diet formulas, which is straight up garbage (as is the Royal Canin and Purina prescription formulas). I did my research and put my cat on Ziwi Peak canned (wet) and air-dried lamb which she'll have to eat for the rest of her life. I also added a high-quality probiotic which she gets daily and monthly vitamin B-12 shots as the IBD causes nutrient malabsorption. No more vomiting or diarrhea. She now has kitten-like energy and is doing great.

    • Could you share with me the regimen and brands of probiotics and B-12 you use please? My cat suffers from leukemia and I’m almost certain she also has IBD and food sensitivities, but vets in my country are very nonchalant about these diseases in cats, so I have been treating her on my own. She’s always hungry and severely malnourished. I have to import the food she eats, because there’s nothing available for her here. Thank you for your help!

    • I'm glad your cat is better! We had a sweet little cat who developed what the vet said was most likely IBD although I don't remember a biopsy being done. She was approx. 12-13 yrs. old when she passed from this awful disease. I remember she would not eat the Hills prescription diet at all. I wish I had done some research like you; did not know about probiotics back then. We now have a rescue approx. 7 yrs old who was vomiting quite often for a while. He did vet B-12 shots which helped. I agree with you about the Royal Canin prescription food. Sam was on the SO food for urine crystals. It did help but right after we took him off that he was diagnosed with diabetes. I always wondered if there was a connection.

    • @@barbarakornacki8599 I'm so sorry. Hindsight is always 20/20. You worked with the (knowledge) tools that you had at the time and did the best you could. With the symptoms my cat had, the vet said it was either IBD or intestinal cancer (both are common in older cats and dogs). Being that I wanted to know exactly what I was dealing with, I agreed to the surgical biopsy to rule out cancer which I'm glad I did. Turns out my cat had the worst IBD my vet said she'd seen in her 20 year practice. Six months post surgery, her gut has completely healed. No doubt my cat's life has been prolonged and I'm hoping she's around to see at least her 20th birthday, and hopefully several more year beyond that.

I would also recommend PureVita and NutriSource. They have excellent turkey and turkey liver food, as well as lamb, pork, duck and salmon. They are either single- protein or a combination of two proteins, and the very first ingredient is always the animal protein.

  • Feed your cat a high quality food. My little tortie female kitty was hanging around outside my house for a week or two, getting cat prints all over my car in the carport. Neighbors thought she was a stray/somebody dumped her as well. One day I have a dead mouse on my doormat lol. Couple days later she started crying at my door. Went out there, petted her, picked her up, then opened the front door and she bolted straight inside. Fed her a whole can of tuna, she literally sat on me for the next 48 hours, well now I have a cat lol. At first bought some cheap Meow Mix at the grocery, didn't know if I was going to keep her. Noticed she was a bit gassy, laying on my chest/neck in the bed I could hear her little guts grumbling. Fed her that till I ran out and decided to keep her. Bought some good quality dry food from the local pet store. Instantly noticed she wasn't gassy, never heard her gut grumbling again, turds were smaller. Just crazy how much of a difference I could tell by switching her to high quality food. And high quality dry kibble isn't that expensive, $15 for a 10lb bag that lasts a good 3 weeks or so.

She has some issues with chronic vomiting which my vet and I have been working on for over a year with some success. Her labs have been good. She's due for them again next month. She does better on rabbit and sardine proteins, which aren't available where I live so I have to order online. I do have anti-nausea medicine when the chronic vomiting kicks up, and something to encourage her to eat when she is refusing food. We're still trying to fine-tune all of this, but we're making progress. She's healthier than she was a year ago. Thank you for this video. I just found your channel and will be checking in.

Now the female vomits only when she anxious and eat more than her stomach would hold. The male passed last week he was 15.5 yrs old. After the switch he only vomited only if I took too long to give him his fresh serving of dry food. The female will eat the food after it has been in the bowl for hours. • We tried every blood test, x-ray, abdominal scan, anti nausea, appetite stimulant, special prescription diet but my poor kitty still kept vomiting and loosing weight. He’s always been a picky eater, lots of choking, difficulty swallowing. He has a heart arrhythmia and had lots of gum inflammation and tarter on his tiny baby kitten teeth, is also missing, never developed his large back molars, which makes chewing a challenge. All seemed to me that he had some kind of esophagus inflammation. I kept watch closely, we tried so many things. I have GERD, it looked to me like his symptoms were so similar, choking on food, frothy bubbly spit up if he didn’t eat, then finally just refusing to eat and loosing weight. I researched and sure enough some kitties have acid reflux! Sent several articles to our vet, she agreed to try him on compounded Pepcid/famotidine. It was compounded at a local speciality pharmacy in liquid form with tuna flavoring, 1mg every 24th hours. I use a syringe to squirt just 1/2 a dose(.05ml) into his mouth before his 1st meal in the morning and the other half 12 hours later, right before last meal of the day. At first I fed him whenever he was hungry, four or five times a day, moist canned and also dry kibble, low fat meals. After only 5 days on Pepcid he’s eating like a champ, running, playing and happily rubbing around my legs and wanting to cuddle. No more throwing up, he’s gaining weight, no more anti nausea or appetite stimulant needed. Here’s some research regarding the use of acid reducers in cats, hope this helps your kitty 😽: petstruggles.com/pepcid-for-cats/ catcentric.org/care-and-health/the-problems-with-pepcid-and-other-antacids/

  • Okay, this is a very useful video. Almost every cat I've had has regurgitated its food. I was classing that as vomiting, which I now see it was not. Near my house there's a new cat on the block, whom I thought was a stray, until I realised he belonged to a neighbour. Cat scarfed down a whole pouch of food in seconds with absoutely no indication he was going to regurgitate his grub. Eye opener as my female cats alternated between being picky eaters, or starvers with inevitable results.

  • My cat vomited about once or twice a month for some time. Then we got a new kitten who chased her and her vomiting became daily. She also started losing weight. I thought it was stress. We gave her anti nausea meds and an appetite stimulant. But it continued. Then the vet did a scan and found she had a growth on her liver. The vet recommended exploratory surgery, with the goal of maybe removing the mass. When she opened her up, it was everywhere and it was almost certainly cancer. So she was put to sleep before she ever woke up. Never take vomiting lightly. Get a thorough workup on your precious baby.

  • My cat started vomiting everyday, vet said it was probably nothing as she saw nothing wrong in the bloodwork. Turned out it was cancer, and he survived only a few months after the initial diagnosis. If your cat is vomiting for a few days straight and treatment from your "regular" vet does not help, take initiative and go to have an X-ray and ultrasound done. Don't wait!

Because of this video I now know that my cat might have megaesphagus but not very severe. I would say he does this maybe twice a month. So I would love to see what I could do to possibly help him.

    • Yes! I have a cat that I inherited from a friend after she had to rehome him, and he used to regurgitate food a lot. I thought it was vomiting but he never seemed very concerned or affected afterward and his vet visits never flagged anything; I just chalked it up to him licking weird things like the bath drain. My friend also confirmed that he has done this all his life. I switched him to some fancy subscription cat food (real cooked chicken) which he eats along with high protein dry cat food (he's a grazer and the real chicken food can't be left out all day) and it has helped a lot with this issue. Every so often it still happens, but not nearly with the same frequency. He's also mostly stopped licking weird things.

She has been losing weight despite eating well and she would vomit, we ended up doing blood work which showed she had elevated liver enzymes so we then did a ultrasound and that's how the gallbladder issue was discovered.

She not once even brought up allergies. She looked like a pretty young vet( new and inexperienced) now that i look back she offered just an anti nausea shot and canned cat food for dehydration and sent me home???? That was it no explanations except if it gets worse to come in and the tests showed he was completely healthy and looked good for 10 yrs old,.well in august last year he layed down for a nap next to me he never woke up died! I cried for a weekim still puzzled.😭😭

  • Very interesting. Thank you for this information. I rescued a feral cat at the verge of starvation a few years ago. He was vomiting occasionally when he was still roaming. Once we moved into the apartment he began to vomit every day after breakfast, then look at me for more food. This also happened when he didn't eat anything for some hrs during the day and then had dinner. I deducted that he has suffered during his time on the street, he is a natural snacker and I need to feed him slowly if he hasn't eaten for a few hrs. This works most times. Occasionally, I feed him too fast, and there seems to be something about chicken. Beef is fine. He has dandruff, so, maybe some food allergy. But most times, as soon as he vomited, he asks for food. I only give dry food then in small portions or raw meat, also in small amounts. He is approximately 8 or 9 now.
