Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down the ending of Loki Season 2.
-
Throughout this video we're gonna be going through what happens in it and also our big theories for where things are gonna go.
Gonna assume if youve clicked an ending explained video that you've seen the last episode so no need for a spoiler alert is there mate. What I'm gonna do though is beg for a thumbs up so if you enjoy the video dont forget to hit it like its your sexy variant.
Technically its self love. With that out the way, thank you for clickign this now let's get into Loki Season 2.
-
Ok so the entry ends with loki sat on the throne at the end of time controlling all the branches that he's able to hold in place. Finally he's realised the purpose of rule and that it requires sacrifice and giving up things for his people. This is something that he struggled with early on and the MCUs actually shown he didn't understand it. All the way back in the first avengers he came to Earth and had people bow down before him.

    • He Who Remains wanted Loki in the chair. That's what he said in the first season. Now that I've had a couple days, I actually think this outcome is what he wanted, or something similar to it. His variants haven't been stopped and the war is coming. Loki gave them a fighting chance, a chance to fight the war and win. Or lose, like Sylvie suggested.

    • The time stone being green probably helped give the writers the idea to go in this direction not the other way around. It has been green since what, 2015 or 16? They didn't know about this episode then. What they can do is retroactively say that's the case, like Peter Parker in Iron Man 2.

    • Yeah, he technically gave up everything for the now. But he can be anywhere, anytime. He is just a custodian of the multi-verse, fixing the timelines atm. A somewhat similar Superman story. Strange Visitor, Superman. Where at the end of time, Superman, literally, held the universe together and had different aspects or clones of himself, going around the universe saving what he could until the last star went out. Then the aspects/clones went back to the Superman, as everything collapsed, he crossed over to another universe.

    • His expression was a perfect blend of resignation and an appreciation of the irony of the situation. Just when he'd realized that the last thing he wanted was a throne and that what he feared most was to be alone, that is exactly how he ended up by his own selfless volition. On a throne, alone. Incredible character development. I think this show is the very best that Marvel has produced.

I think with the way the series was set up, everything that Loki did to desperately change the outcome has already been predetermined to fail. He Who Remains knows this, and he was just waiting for Loki to accept the very thing he said himself-that freedom was a lie. Once Loki accepted his fate then could he have peace knowing he saved everything he cared about.

  • My inital thoughts when he was holding the timeline branches and they turned green, was that he was essentially spreading his conciousness across the timelines, thus making him a Nexus being and completing that part of the ouroboros loop. Him sitting on the throne not only seen as a sacrifice of infinite solitude to guard the timelines, but that if there are an infinite number of variant Kangs, then there will be an infinite number of variant Lokis to fight against them. • I would like to think that Loki's main purpose is the general task of trying to prevent the death of universes by preventing incursions and organizing the multiverse (in a tree structure). If the multiverse is not organized and in total chaos, natural incursions are inevitable. When Loki destroyed the loom, the multiverse essentially died without an organizing force. Aside from naturally occurring incursions, caused incursions can also occur when the inhabitants of the universes start doing multiversal activities. The Kang multiversal war is the obvious example. The war causes incursions and He Who Remains solution to it is the most brutal way of organizing the chaos of the multiverse, kill all timelines (universes) except the 'sacred' one(s). Caused incursions are also mentioned/explained in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. A version of Doctor Strange, using Dreamwalking (a multiversal activity), caused an incursion. Again, I think Loki's glorious purpose is not explicitly to prevent the Kang multiversal war but to organize the multiverse to prevent natural incursions. That is why the TVA still exists. The TVA is the one preventing the caused incursions due to the Kangs.

    • @@thefreestofspeech6951but he didn't, with his little power he simply shifted his consciousness back into his younger self. He's transcended time and space, he isn't governed by the natural laws of physics anymore, that's shown by his amazing feat at the end of the show and not being affected as much by the temporal radiation. When he was slipping on the timelines maybe but at that point in Loki's journey all the universe were set to be wiped by the loom, so regardless of his actions it wouldn't matter (even if he created branched timelines). The TVA is outside time and space so I'd say it's unaffected by his time slipping as well.

      @BetaBreaking@BetaBreaking6 ай бұрын
    • @@BetaBreaking that's what the show tells you it's happening but not what actually happened. Remember from season 1 all the members of the TVA his friends are variants that come from destroyed timelines. Sylvie herself is supposed to be a Loki variant. 4 Loki to talk to his friends he has to go to different universes that don't exist to talk to them. Sylvie's actually the worst offender here because everywhere she goes she causes an incursion. Especially when you remember if Sylvia goes to a different Earth Earth's sorcerer Supreme will be knocking on her door. Meaning you won't have that versions Loki call me to meet her. It will be that version Thor and Odin.

I never really liked him as a character, but this Loki has been the most insane character development. I hope we will see him again at some point. And I hope his back will be okay after carrying the MCU like this.

  • I loved the finale so much that I watched it back-to-back. I was just in awe. Like the World Tree, all the protagonists grew as someone you could easily relate to. Loki's transformation from being a Mad King to a Benign Ruler would've made his family (Frigga, Thor, Odin) proud. I don't think he'll be there forever. Like his brother before him, he'll leave the throne when it suits him ill and explores the multiverse he governs. A big reason why he'll do this is so he doesn't end up like He Who Remains, who was a cosmic hermit. Either way, I can't wait for the God of Stories to tell another one. Excellent work on covering Loki Season 2, Heavy Spoilers! It's been a blast.

  • It's interesting how they essentially negated Loki's power of time slipping. He can only slip within his own body, and to time slip into the time before he destroyed the loom and make some changes there would prevent the creation of the multiverse tree, which Loki doesn't want. So he can only time slip through the time after that - and what would be the point? He would just slip from sitting on the throne to also still sitting on the throne, just in a different time period.

  • If I remember right, Multiverse was going to be destroyed (originally) without sacred timeline because there are multiple Kangs that fight against each other. They basically destroy each other branches destroying them all and that was meaning of branches dying out without loop. It was efekt of immediate war. Loki using his magic and time manipulation was changing what happened on each timeline, but even if he saved one, other branches would attack and kill it again. Kang solution was eliminated all potential attackers. Loki did connect himself to them all and guided them to coexist. Because they coexist, Kangs doesn't destroy timelines and council of Kangs was born, not knowing they are monitored by Loki and TVA. I'm not sure how much power can Loki use, when he control, well, everything. It also reminds me myth of Yggdrasil, where on tree that is universe exists numerous treats to tree itself. Snake or ddragon that is eating its roots (what it remains you? ) bird(eagle?) that creates storms by it's wings in nine worlds (maybe metafor for Kangs and their war they bought into different universes) and them it's that beast that move on tree freely, can't remember name or race, just it creates trouble and provoke other two. Maybe more, but that's all I remember.

    @liborohanka5010@liborohanka50106 ай бұрын
    • the council of kangs, isnt on any timeline. the view i bet they saw when they mentioned someone is messing with their multiverse, is the view we got at the end of loki, the birth of yggdrasil. thus also not able to be monitored by the TVA or Loki. Loki can only do certain things and well he mostly gotta keep our multiverse breathing with his lifeblood. Even if can leave, doubt much of his power can go with him as he must keep the timelines breathing. for mythilogical sake tho, yggdrasil can be burned down.

      @reddragon7762@reddragon77626 ай бұрын
    • @@reddragon7762 I think from their pow there always was Yggdrasil, because only with Yggdrasil there is Multiverse from which they originate. So Multiverse is for them tree, that was always there. It's possible they know about Loki, who is in middle of tree and TVA, but it isn't guaranteed. TVA thinks they don't know, if it's true.... Of course council could be formed by Kangs from branches in season 2, but that would mean they figured out how to exist outside of time, before branches were destroyed. With fact, that after freeing timelines, they were all dying and HWR saying that his variants will fight between each other for their timelines until they destroy Multiverse, it looks to me that council must exist AFTER Yggdrasil birth, because they weren't fighting and cooperating. It may be conquest, but they don't plan destroying timelines, which is changed from pre-Yggdrasil Kangs.

I'm invested in their lives both on the timelines and in the TVA. *IF* they leave everything as it was with the season 2 finale, then that's okay. It was bittersweet, but we got many answers. My only big complaint is how they wasted Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes during the last two episodes. With this being the last *LOKI* we see (possibly), it would have made more sense to have a 10 episode run. Either way, it was wonderful, and I loved every video you and MT did!!!!
