When Loki first appeared in Avengers 1, he commanded that everyone should abandon their free will and kneel before him. Loki’s last appearance was him abandoning his freedom in order to give the multiverse free will… That’s a character arc!!!
That wasn't the first movie of loki but, other than that, you are absolutely right.
Loki's first movie was Thor 1

The foreshadowing in the episode where Loki is trying to get Mobius to focus on HWR, and he says, “yeah but in order to do that, I need a Loki who remains”. This series is incredible. Loki’s transformation down the gangway is officially my favorite transformation of any character in any movie/series.

I'm not gonna lie, I balled my eyes out at the end of this episode. Imprisoning himself on a throne, sacrificing himself on the altar of loneliness to fulfill his glorious purpose and protect his friends is the ultimate character arc. Loki is the best bit of storytelling the MCU has had to offer yet.
Honestly, yes, 2×06 was some of the greatest storytelling and looks I've seen from anything

That and endgame are the best marvel projects ever just cuz they concluded literally decades of films

I feel like he’s going to be Marvel’s strongest character but and I hope we can see him get to that point
Sadly, after being Waititi-ed, Thor does not have the cognitive capacity to know whether to be proud or not. His main interest is doofus-ery.
Loki’s character growth these last 14 years has truly been GLORIOUS!!!
jeezus! 14 years of marvel movies. no wonder there has been a decline. maybe they’ll be able to turn things around
The ending was nothing less than perfection. I was in shock for like ten minutes after it ended. Glorious burden. Odin would be so proud of Loki.
But - remember - this was a variant. However, the Loki that died in Infinity War being the true Loki would have made Odin no Less Proud, as he did try to play to his Strength to save his Brother. Loki could have given Thanos the Tesseract and washed his hands of it, saving himself. But instead, he stood up to Thanos and died for it. That is the mark of a warrior - to face impossible odds and still press on in spite of it. Loki would have been primed for Valhalla, and given the end of Love and Thunder - because of his actions - we may see Loki Prime return again! After all, Heimdall was also there, who died before him, so ... when they inevitably return, we shouldn't be surprised if Loki Prime returns as well, which could be influenced by Storyteller Loki if we want to keep his current persona, only still Prime Loki in most ways. Not only this, but his other honorable acts include - him resurecting Surtur to help with Thor's plan to push forward with Ragnarok - him helping the Revengers against Hela during Ragnarok - him actually being on the ship at the end of Ragnarok, unlike him projecting in the circular prison in Saccar to save his skin Death could change him the way it did Variant (Storyteller) Loki... and then again... slightly another version - We may see him resurrect as Kid-Loki and Storyteller may appear as Ikol for the Young Avengers version, advising the team that will defeat Kang! After All, Storyteller Loki can write his story now, which may mean he can affect things in the Prime storyline. Remember that Kid-Loki was a Hero in the comics. Also in the comics, being worthy of Mjolnir once fell to Loki when Thor was deemed not worthy.

Not sure if it was mentioned but Loki got pruned because of the Tesseract/Space stone usage and the first time we see the Tesseract is in Captain America: The First Avenger where it was hidden in a relief carving of Yggdrasil where Red Skull found it. Loki is now the center of Yggdrasil.

Something that I thought about as soon as I saw Loki sit down on the throne was the scene with Sif in S1xE1. Loki saw being (physically) alone as a form of torture, but now that he has realized his true glorious purpose (protecting his friends), being physically alone no longer matters because he will always have the memories of his loved ones. I think this series did an excellent job in showing loneliness does not come from the amount of people you are physically around, but more so the amount of people that you have connected with.

Anyone else notice how when the timeline was based on Kang’s time loom the TVA members were told to prune. Which in botany means the process of selectively removing certain parts of a plant. With Loki being connected in all multiverses, he can create a copy of himself and travel in all the universes, moving back and forth in time because of his control of time slipping.
one thing i really like about Loki's God of Stories appearance is that it has none of the usual pomposity his usual godly outfits have. it's not a finely stitched piece meant to make him look wealthy and important with lots of gold bits in it; it's fairly simple and humble, reflecting his growth as a character; a green cloak, muted colours and simple practical shoes. the garb of a simple storyteller, and not an arrogant godling

Loki walking up the gangway and transforming was so badass. This is top tier Marvel.
I like to think that now Loki next arc will depict him in an ultra powerful way, and since he is holding onto every branch of time and sustaining the very life within, said branches, I feel as though he can project himself into anyone of those timelines at any given moment
does this make him the most powerful being in all the multiverse orr?
One thing I am very curious about this finale… B15 asked Mobius, ”Do any of them know that we exist yet?” This is something…. a big something, because Immortus said that “they are beginning to touch the Multiverse”… so maybe it was not the death of Kang at Quantumania that triggered the Kang Council… but Loki changing the equation.
Loki’s selfish want is to not be alone and the last thing he wants is a throne. However, his sacrifice to fulfil his glorious purpose was to sit all alone in a throne to protect the multiverse. I love this series.
In terms of the fear of being alone, I kind of got the feeling that at the end of it all he wasn’t alone. He could hear Mobius’ voice through the branches, and doubtless every one of his friends clearing their path on the timeline. I think now he is content to watch the stories of his friends, and those stories help him to not be alone.
Loki, the God of Stories.
I kinda disagree. You can see loki's eyes weeping as he hears those words from mobius. He didn't overcome his fear of being alone and he's definetely isn't happy. This isn't a happy ending for loki like most of other marvel movies, he accepted his burden because he knew only he can face the challenge of holding the multiverse together, therefore giving his friends a chance at happiness. At last he got his glourious purpose, and now he is cursed for all of eternity.
I completely disagree with this! But I do absolutely understand where you’re coming from ^^
I actually think you both are right. Why can't it be both? He may not have overcame his fear of being alone, but him being able to watch or monitor his friends on their timeline may provide him some solace. Both opinions can be right in the end.

@@lil_cali714___Yeah, he does. His first arc ends with Thanos killing him, and then the one from "2012" that ends here. I know. Different Lokis, but still.
They really gave him such a strong redemption arc it’s crazy if only Thor could see his brother now he would be so proud
So would, Odin and Frigga! 😊
I was gutted by that last scene of Loki alone, just when he had found a group of friends he could truly invest in.
Season 2, literally a master class on what we need again.
i’m sure Odin would be proud of seeing both his boys like this now. they both finally understand what it means to have purpose.
Frigga too!
Also we saw that they didnt give the handbook to victor. But what happened to current one that helping them? They killed him? 31:46
@@zimknxckb4ck Exactly. That timeline should still be intact, so the Victor Timely we know should still exist.
@@proximashining776i’m a little confused too, so like does this mean that on the sacred timeline kang is defeated? is there a timeline where loki doesn’t win and he who remains still exists somewhere in time? i mean technically he does right? because there is a point in the past that he is there so what if allll of this is his plan?
Majors dropping all the acts, season 1 Kang, making fun of Timely, and just talking to him like anyone you'd meet on the street was a stroke of genius.
That's the point where he starting to see Loki as his equal.
@lastsaviour4916 I don't think he saw him as equal. I'm pretty sure he SET him on this path. Constructed all of this in a way for Loki to gain these abilities and made him sacrifice himself for the hard choices cuz he was tired of doing it. In a way Loki is somewhat an equal now. But HWR forced it upon him.
I like to think he’s still able to experience his whole life because he’s mastered time. So he’s never alone.
When i truly feel sad saying goodbye to characters, thats how i know its a good story. Thanks loki
I'm impressed at the character development of Loki, from seeking power and dominion by any means, to selfless sacrifice at the cost of himself, for others. He went from troublesome villain to one of the most important heroes in the MCU. Way to keep the MCU alive production team.
Yes! His character development was so throughly thought through. From villain to mercurial anti-hero to the most important hero of timelines, of stories. Everything we love about him and all knew he was capable of was played out perfectly. 💚
Loki was an absolute gem. Really hope we see more Loki in the MCU in the future.
They said this was his last mcu project
I don't. This is the perfect ending for his character. I want other MCU heroes to be developed
@@saavikabramov4230agreed
That final scene with Loki in the tree... I can't believe I'm crying again. The first season was awesome, and the second season blew the first one off the map.
I am sort of surprised it was never mentioned that Loki sort of looked shackled by the branches much like he is supposed to be chained in the cave where he awaits Ragnarok. It is certainly different but the visual is there to me.
All I want is Atleast a reunion of Thor and Loki one more time so Thor can see how much he’s changed
Yes 😢 I also want Kid Loki...
This is fictional buddy. They are just characters. U acting like Thor who is a fictional character actually cares about Loki another fictional character 🤣. Ur living in fantasy land
@@raymondqiu8202what are you yappin about ☠️
@@raymondqiu8202well Thor and Loki are brothers in the MCU and comics. I think this person just wants to see how Loki has changed, yes Thor might not like what his brother does , but still loves him and wants the best for him. We saw that at the end of Thor 2, when he faked his death and saw that when he died in Infinity War that he loved his brother and just wanted to have a story arc.
Yeah me too
Honestly props to kang doing an impression of someone doing an impression of a variant of himself
Hahahaha that is really good
That didn’t happen, Kang did the impression of a variant (Victor). You’re incorporating Jonathan Majors but it’s still dumb- Majors was impersonating Kang who impersonated Timely who was impersonated by Majors, but that’s just dumb.
@@pooloftim8263 bad day today?
@@pooloftim8263 dang who hurt u
25:27 him literally creating his own path 👏🏾 this series, Loki's character and his arc honestly reflected my own life atm so I really felt a lot from it, I thank the whole team for such an amazing job
Did anyone mention yet how cool it was. At the 34:44 mark when Loki did his last time slip back to the TVA. Victor Timely had his head in the machine and just as it said "Welcome he who remains!" Loki slipped back into his body? Love the little nuances! I'm gonna miss this show!
"You know you can't get to the end until you've been changed by the journey" Loki was always destined to do this. What an arch this character has, truly amazing story telling.
Hiddleston’s performance as Loki may be some of the most beautiful and immersive acting. For someone who was always a big Loki fan, I can’t imagine a better actor for the role.
true, him and RDJ as Tony Stark as well
Its only a small detail, but has anyone else noticed that at the end Mobius is sat in the booth at the TVA literally frozen when he's in the background. I enjoyed that detail. Literally showing us how whilst he's at the TVA he's frozen in time as a person, it looks unnatural and is a nice way of showing us he's ready to move on.
Loki's time slipping is like Dr. Strange's Dormamu moment and Doctor Who had a baby. True timey wimey chaos💚Loki just took the line "I'll never let go" to a whole new level
When Loki Season 2 started, Mobius literally guessed the solution which we've got in the end. Instead of focusing on He Who Remains, Mobius says "I need Loki who remains". This is some kind of replacement of one person with another and now I realize that entire season was Loki replacing Kang step by step. Epic Series! Beautiful ending scene and Glorious conclusion! And the proof that MCU can have some good and emotionally fulfilled stories after Endgame!
Great catch!
Ok, hear me out... If Loki is holding every strand of the Multiverse together, wouldn't he be able to project his consciousness into any of those strands at any point in time? His physical body would still be holding the multiverse together but his consciousness could be anywhere it wants to be therefore he could still be active every now and then in the MCU without messing up this perfect character arc. Maybe a reunion with Thor?
Just like Wanda did in Doctor strange 2. 💀
I 100% think they will utilize that idea, have him become somewhat of a mentor figure/advice giver. Everyone once in a while, the next to all knowing Loki God of Stories drops in the help get characters out of one line of thinking and into another to solve their problems.
He's the Third eye of the Raven Hunnin (or Munnin)
@@BodhiChimpyess pleasee
Kinda like joy from Eeaao 🤔
Loki has been by far my favorite character as time has passed and we got to know him. Just an incredible character and the depth of meaning in this series as commentary on life on this planet as we know it today is just brilliant.
Im completely satisfied if I don’t get season 3. They wrapped this perfectly to build on for other projects.
As it has began, so too does it end. Reborn, knowing his duty. Lok, the god of Stories, and the heart of Yggdrasil.
Magnificent story
@@darkneon5637 Glorious, even.
Beautiful
He's absolutely not the God of Stories. That appears to be common misinformation that people keep parroting. But people that actually read the comics, understand this not to be the case at all.
Can’t stop thinking about Odin’s quote, “All this because Loki desires a throne.” And then to see such bold rejection of that idea from Loki in the citadel, only for him to end up there anyway? Excellent poetic writing. Especially because that version of Loki would discover that what he thought of as his glorious purpose would become his greatest burden.
Reminds me of something one of my best friends told me a few years ago: When you no longer want something you desired is when you most deserve it.
Nice recap! One thing I wish the series would have done is further explored the powerful connection of Loki and Sylvie. They made a point of showing how good they were together; having Loki go off on his own and pushing Sylvie to the side leaves a compelling potential storyline of the power of partnership go unexplored.
This episode made me cry my eyes out. The plot was absolutely amazing and I understood it because of these wonderful videos. I love you guys so much and I hope you continue your passion of breaking down all of these movies and episodes.❤
"Time is an illusion." and it's beautiful to see that the character who creates illusions now controls time. So that was character development at its finest. And I found it funny that he always wanted the throne and now he's firmly attached to one. It's interesting to see his wish come true, but it comes with enormous responsibility. Sensational series finale. I hope Marvel continues to build their movies so well after the low point of the last few years.
It’s very clear lokis makers and team are the ones to carry the MCU .
"Most purpose is more burden than glory"
One of the best things the mcu has ever done. I can't stop thinking about this episode! Felt so sad when it didn't say Loki will return in the credits. 😔
Now how are Thor and Loki reunite? Please 🙏Marvel tell us that Loki will return.
@chelsearunyan Well with Hemsworth allegedly taking an extended hiatus from acting, and with the ending and the lack of future teases in this episode, I'm honestly under the impression that they're done. At least for the foreseeable future. 😔
A glorious way to go out, if it is.
Loki may not "be" everywhere, but he IS everywhere. Watching and listening to everything
loki is now one of my fav characters from mcu ever... i cried at this finale i truly hope we'd see him again
The directors for this series deserves a raise🎉!
Loki might be experiencing all of the timelines in some way. So he might not be alone at all, but instead - he is with everybody.
Iam pretty sure he can at least project a copy of him on 1 timeline if he master concentrating on holding the branches long enough
Love this!
Burdened with Glorious Purpose. Incredible!!
@@carcas3dMaybe he doesnt even project himself, but takes the consciousness of the Loki within that Timeline. Being able to view infinite timelines at all time always, but can put his focus within certain ones.
@@dippin4dots well generally we have the same idea in mind I just use the word project just so even without Loki he can still insert himself
Jonathan Majors kills it with his acting as He who remains. Such a good actor
This has felt like the end of an amazing journey. Excited to see the future of Loki and the TVA, and where the story goes from here.
I took the final sceen as him connecting the timelines and branches to the end of time. Truly a great scene
A shower thought I just had: Loki was confronted with the What, How, Why and Who and needed to understand them to fully understand the whole story, the big picture. When Loki went ahead and learnt everything about time and physics, he understood the What and How. When he finally confronted Kang, he understood the Why; it was all planned by Kang all along. And when he finally talked to Mobius and Silvie, he finally understood Who he needed to be. Thus he understood the whole story, he could rewrite it. He became the God of Stories.
I agreed until the very last part. He doesn't write the timelines, he just holds oversees them and keeps them together
More as a Keeper of the multiverse
@@hareendrangangadharan6974 Yes, he rewrote the story so he ended up being the Keeper of the Multiverse.
I’m so proud of Loki but I’m also sad. Love his character and hope it’s not the last time we see him.
He said himself, this ends his 14 year run as Loki.
@@jacobwillard3530 way to break my heart
I feel like I’m mourning Loki all over again 😢
The reason that Loki can stop time is because his stand is the same type of stand as He who remains.
