Let's learn and relax with a 19th century-like french class :) This was highly requested and I hope you'll enjoy !
Please be aware that the map shown in the video is a 1571 reproduction, used for its aesthetics. A lot of names and delineations are absolutely not accurate, even for the 19th century. Thank you :)

  • Hello ! This roleplay was mainly inspired by the Little Women movies (especially the 1994 version, my favorite), and I hope you’ll enjoy the nostalgic vibes :) Prenez place, et que la leçon commence !

    • @@regrettablemuffin9186 I actually don't think English is one of the hardest languages to learn, its grammar is really simple and easy to understand, and it is known that French is on the opposite a complicated language to learn because of its grammar that's very dense and complicated, unless you already speak a latin language such as Spanish

    • Well, you can think whatever you want but you're in fact wrong. English has one of the hardest phonology in the world and its grammar isn't overall simpler than its french counterpart, with the exception of conjugation. Truth is, the use of prepositions is much harder in English than it is in French. And I'm not even talking about orthography, which is a complete mess in English, with no consistency at all. The reason English is easier to learn does not lie in the language itself but in its omnipresence throughout the world whereas you're almost never exposed to French if you don't live in a country where it's widely spoken.

The spoken words are all clearly enunciated with just the right inflections for this to really feel like a genuine tutoring lesson. Even the facial expressions are composed yet warm. And of course the props and setting are very nice too. Everything about this video is so lovely.

    • When printing became a thing, people didn't have a ligature for the "th" sound (written as þ back then) so people just used the letter y. Which is why you also have things like "ye olde shoppe". Assuming the y in thou just stuck around and merged with the plural you.

      @rds7516@rds75163 жыл бұрын
    • @@rds7516 Yes! This irritates me so much when people pronounce "ye olde" as written. It still says "the old" just with different spelling.

    • Weird, I always thought 'thou' was more formal! I had no idea! Does that mean 'thine' 'thee' and 'thy' were considered informal as well?

      @David-un4cs@David-un4cs3 жыл бұрын
    • @@David-un4cs yes they are all informal. That is why in Shakespeare's Othello when Iago is manipulating Othello he switches to the formal 'you' to fake respect and subservience. He's doing everything to get Othello to believe him. It's subtle but beautiful.

  • Wow this experience is so wonderful and carefully made! The set and props are extremely pleasant, the host is wonderful and exudes care for the students. The sound is excellent with great clarity on the up close sounds, and very low if non existent room echo (which takes a lot of effort). I'm glad to subscribe and recommend this to others I know. Thank you for the care and quality put into this experience.
