At least for me- I could say I learnt English in less then a year and only thanks to KZheadrs other than actual English lessons.

    • in some way yea, but (and i hate to sound like a pretentious know all) the Russian Г is derived from the capital Greek gamma "Γ" (lower case "γ" which originated latin "Y" or Greek i as some people call it). As for Korean i can't say much because i know next to nothing about Hangul, but my theory is that there might have been some Han Chinese characters that gave inspiration to it, and it might just be a coincidence. Again, sorry if i sounded like a pretentious bastard, but i just like like to share knowledge.

  • for anyone struggling to nail the alphabet- these are some of the tricks that i use to help me remember! i use the shape of the actual letter to remind me of what the sound is: ㄱ- g as in “gun” ㄴ- n as in “nose” ㄷ- d as in “door” ㄹ- r/l as in “rattlesnake” ㅁ- m as in “mouth” ㅂ- b as in “bucket” ㅅ- s as in “ski mountain” ㅇ- zero as in nothing, since it does not make a sound when out before vowels ㅈ- j as in “joy” (idk) ㅊ- ch as in “champion” (think of the little mark on top being a person who reached that tallest mountain or sum) ㅎ- h as in “hole” ㅍ- p as in “part II” (since the two vertical lines resemble the roman numeral for 2) ㅋ- none for this one haha ㅌ- t as in “tres” (used spanish because the “th” sound in three) ㅏ- a as in “After” the line ㅓ- uh as in “befOre” the line ㅗ- o as in “Over” the line ㅜ- u as in “under” the line ㅣ- i as in the letter i haha ㅡ- eu as in “brOOk” These aren’t perfect or foolproof but they sure did and do help me remember!

  • If you are a person who actually wants to learn Korean, let me teach you some things. -For example, you can’t just write ㅏ. Like she said, it must begin with a consonant. Which is why we have ㅇ, which is a fake consonant. It has no sound at all. So because of the grammar rules, it would be 어 instead ofㅓbut still sound exactly the same. -Instead of SVO, (subject, verb, object) for sentence structure, for example: ‘Alice cooked chicken’. In Korean, it is SOV, (subject, object, verb). So instead it would be Alice chicken cooked. That may sound completely stupid, but it is true. Last but not least, certain words have special endings. For example, -AH 아 & -YAH 야. They involve endings for names. -Ah, is used to end names that have a consonant for the last letter. -Yah, is used for names with a vowel as the last letter. That is everything I will be sharing today. I may reply for grammatical facts for the Korean language & Hangul/Hangeul!

There's even a 5 minute youtube video that completely explains how to read hangul lol. But to actually learn the meaning, grammar, traditions and slangs, I would say it is very difficult for an English speaker (especially if you don't speak any other Asian language) because most of these things are very different from English.
