    • I think its the way they teach them to throw punches in Russia especially the left, the left hook is thrown with the palm facing down weird but i guess it works for them

    • It’s called a Russian hook. It’s used mainly for ranged attacks. Fedor E. was the master at it.

    • Its the only correct way to throw hooks. Palm in only work close range.

    • @@kinraade There's something called a horizontal hook and vertical hook. Horizontal is what you see here. Soviet/cuban style. The way most of us do it is the vertical hook where your fist is vertical. Vertical is more powerful but horizontal is more natural for our arms and shoulders.

    • Its called Isaev technique, special branch of Soviet Boxing school. Also very effective. Isaev was his coach who raised him and made hm in amateurs.

    • @@romanshliachovski8550 I know this comment was two years ago but I've been looking for videos of Isaev coaching for a while now and have only found a couple YT channels with very few videos on them. Do you know if he had any DVDs or books or even something I can search for in Russian that will help me find more videos? Thanks

    • Dear Ryan, here a channel with a coach ( not famous) who trained with Isaac and coaching in his method. m.kzhead.info/sun/m5SGcpawq3ltp3k/bejne.html You don’t need to understand Russian it’s self explanatory . Just pay attention it is not 100% truth. Good for amateurs who are tall and lanky. Not so useful if you are short or muscular . Also, not very effective for pros.

    • Nobody knows except a few russian trainers and boxers what is this exactly. In his fights he's always locked, fights from a high guard and blocks punches very well. Back, when he liked of of my pics in instagram in 2016, i seen his videos doing pad work and bag work and i said "lol this dude cant box" until i saw his amateur fights and after that the pros. He is something really different, he won every round against Barrera and knocked him out too, thats speaks for itself.

    • That is old Soviet technique. Every punch is thrown with full relaxation of hands and throwing using your elbows. That's why he has his hands down, to force his body to relax and throw punches from different angles.

    • Oleksandr Bodnarchuk Thank you! I would like to know more about the soviet school of boxing.

    • Unfortunately there is no information about this technique in English, and very few trainers (as you wrote earlier) knows how to work with this technique. I know only one trainer nowadays in KZhead, who makes videos and explain this technique (or very similar one) kzhead.info/tools/QxhrxXQTUXJhQcM6yeh06A.html - but only in Russian.
