  • Finally !!! Thank you for saving those smaller bowls. I keep watching videos of people shaping the outside of the bowl a then turning it over and turning 80% of the blank to sawdust that just gets dumped. It hurts to watch them.

But watching these amazing turned pieces, been made is fab. I’ve seen turned vase - bowls - coffee spoons but what you did with this wood in cutting the bowls is pure skill & genius and the finished polished patterns is awesome!

  • Hello there, from Las Vegas,NV! I am new to your channel,and want to thank you for showing us your coring and resin skills.I found this all very interesting,mesmerizing, and entertaining! I also just wanted to tell all the commenters on this particular video that I noticed that every single main comment had a response...AMAZING! There were over 540 comments and all was acknowledged. Do you answer every comment,on every video? Most of the replys are relevant to each commentor,so you must arrange alot of time each video to be able to do this. I admit that I read all your resonses, and enjoyed doing that as much as I enjoyed watching the video it self...TOTALLY worth it, thanks again. Also,you said that you were self taught, have you ever been a teacher or a trainer? One day, thousands of years into the future,some one will dig these 4 bowls out of where ever and bring them back together and put into an art gallery or a museum for all to understand what people were "turning" in the year 2021!🤭😊👌✌🖖👍👍💚

    @kellycollins3516@kellycollins35162 жыл бұрын
    • As you seen, I answer all the comments in every video, I think it’s important to be engaged with my viewers and to let them know that I’m here to answer their questions if they have any. Most times it might just be a thanks or thank you 🙏 but I’m sure that people are pleased that I’ve read their comment and thanked them for it. I’m retired from the Canadian army after 24 years of service and during my time there did some teaching like we all do in the military. That’s probably where the teacher/trainer comes from. When I first started turning, places like KZhead didn’t exist so I read books and bought videos and that’s the way I learned to turn. Being lefthand I’ve adapted a stile of turning that most turners don’t do, I’m pretty unique in that regard. Having one of my pieces in a museum would be icing on the cake! Thanks for your awesome comment! Jim

  • In dentistry and medicine, we have a saying, "XYZ works in my hands." Or, "In my hands, I get good results doing XYZ." So, if sanding the insides of the bowls, works for you, the way you're doing it, then it is the correct way "in your hands." The results are beautiful!! Purple is one of my alma mater's colors. Haven’t been able to find anyone else who does that. Thank you for all the content you provide us. You can only see so many reruns of MASH, so it’s nice to tune into your channel for a change.

  • Another gem, Jim. I lol'd a little when you said, "I think my wife may want the little one". Everything I make on my lathe... "I wanna keep that" my wife says. Lol. She is way more artistic than I am and she make cosplay armor suits and mock video game character outfits that are amazing. She's won multiple trophies and medals at big "nerd" conventions. I can say that... I am one too, lol. I sell my turning and am trying to convince her to sell her costumes because of this keeps up there will be costumes and bowls everywhere in our house. We'll be on an episode of TLC's "Horders, Craft Edition".

    @normahutton1560@normahutton15602 жыл бұрын
    • The risky thing with this coring is that the resins brittle unlike wood, so the piece at any time can break away from the blank and go flying. Since this is dry wood that makes it brittle and easy to crack if it hits the floor. Thanks

  • Babe, there is such a thing to hold the piece down. Spring curtain rods. They are sold in various sizes to fit the width of the window you're fitting. You screw one end into the other to shorten, unscrew to lengthen. Perfect for your pot! And they are cheap at most surplus stores like Big Lots or Ocean State Job Lot. Great idea‼️🇺🇲👍🏻

    @piratetaylor29@piratetaylor292 жыл бұрын
    • At first I wasn’t sure what you were talking about but I’m guessing you would use this across the inside of the pressure pot and have it resting on the top of the blank so it can’t lift up when the resin is poured in, is that correct? Thanks 😊
