DON'T Disable GOS (Game Optimizing Service) on the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Here’s Why… | Genshin Impact

So by now we’ve all seen the negative press with Samsung and their GOS feature that has been crippling the performance of many generations of Galaxy devices. However, what if Samsung has a good cause for this!? What if Samsung knows things that we as consumers do not? Check out this video as I’ll share my thoughts as well analyze the Galaxy S22 Ultra Genshin Impact FPS performance with and without the GOS feature.

  • Golden Reviewer just made another video regarding GOS. The S22u averaged only 32 FPS with GOS off and 30 FPS with GOS on. Second, the heat was soo high. GOS OFF was 47c and ON was 41c. Power consumption was also very high. In conclusion, it isn’t worth turning off! kzhead.info/sun/l5usgZuDbXOYa4k/bejne.html

And if u are a gamer your either inches away from a charger or you play plugged in anyways. Its worth if u know what ur doing all this dose is basically overclocks the gpu/cpu by removing the limiter

    • Keep in mind that he uses the exynos variant which performs worse than snapdragon. We see that snapdragon variant with gos off consumed 6.88w and got 44fps while the exynos variant consumed 6.51w and got only 32fps. The snapdragon variant consumed 0.37w more but got higher fps average which is better than exynos variant that consumed less power but got lower average fps (10fps lower) than snapdragon varian

  • I think turning gos off is only going to benefit people on mid demanding games, that occasionally run though areas that demand much more processing. Normally the phone drops the fps to prevent heating, but you're only passing through not long enough to actually raise the temp. So the fps drop is just annoying.

  • I've been saying this! GOS is put on there for the AVERAGE CONSUMER because there's more average consumers than us techies who know every little thing about our Samsung phones. It serves a purpose and ppl should not disable GOS at least in the way we know how to now. This GOS app is made to increase the longevity of the device and ppl who remove it may face consequences down the line from overheating, and as you stated, will then be the same ones to blame Samsung when their phone does become faulty.

    • Exactly.😆 💯. I used to be the guy rooting my device's over clocking them, flashing them, anything imaginable to make my perfect device. But once the Note 8 dropped that all stopped because Samsung figured out. They dropped the mic on me. Now I just buy my device, say thank you Samsung and save all that tinkering for other products.

    • lol, ahhahah, firstly, there is protection against overheating at the core level, therefore, there will be no difference in fact. Secondly, well, your Samsung will serve not 6 years, but 5, ahhaahah. And the battery will still swell and deteriorate, because in any case it is necessary to have cooling. a couple of months later, the battery will swell to the state of a bull's egg, well, indeed, success

    • That's the opposite, if you have a cooler for your phone it's actually better to Turn Off the GOS , because you will be under the Thermal Threshold, so your device will perform better. So if you are using it with GOS turned ON , you don't need a cooler.

  • Your point is correct. But I want to say, what is Samsung doing? GOS is very stuck when turning on the phone, for example, frame drops often occur. But turning off the GOS, phone is very hot. In short, Samsung's optimization is too poor to achieve a balance between software operation and chip energy consumption.

In many other games enable GOS gives you only half FPS instead full potential FPS from game. When it's off you will get full FPS 60 or 120 (depending from product game). • Disabling GOS is a must because they shouldn't give a limitation for a phone that worth $1000. playing genshin on highest is a example of unrealistic condition because that game is not optimized yet. so by disabling GOS can actually help sustained the performance of genshin on lower graphic option without getting limited nor heating the device. there's no way to play genshin on highest with a stable fps on a longer duration with ANY smartphone for now. disabling GOS can be acually helpful for playing emulation like AetherSX2 (PS2 emulation) to sustain the performance. so maybe you should revise your point in this video because genshin is not the only game on smartphone.

  • most consumers haven't realised the usage of the gos and they blame samsung for decreasing the performance of the phone. In reality though, samsung decrases the performance by a small percentage to have a consistent ammount of fps even if you're gaming for a long period of time. With this method (with gos enabled), you can even save up battery while gaming and surely see a major decrease in the heat this phone produces

Im using samsung a03s using it from morning from school, i play asphalt 8 while i waiting to arrived to school, use the phone to search something for lesson, then i play mlbb with my friend on lunch time, i playing asphalt 8 again when i on bus to go home, after at home after i finish my homework (also i using the phone by hearing music on spotify while charging) i play mlbb again until i go to sleep, then i charge it overnight and tomorrow this phone do same long task without any hassle. Now this phone already 2 years and still works fine, what a incredible sustain experience! Gos truly improve user experience, and i hope all phone brand can "copy" it.

  • I thought tech tablets video was instructive when he compared the s22 ultra Exynos to the xiaomi 12 pro. Samsung was throttling it down to 62% of its power whereas xiaomi was basically running at 99% of the power. The throttling is, frustrating, but xiaomi phone had major issues with rebooting and shutting down and other bugs. This is a collective crap sandwich from Qualcomm and the phone manufacturers who just can't get these chips to run efficiently in these phones. 8gen1, 888, exynos, end up being less powerful than the 865 Plus or even sometimes a mid-range chip like the 765g when it's under heavy load. It's a problem

Rather they should continue using last year chip for lower prize. But restricting phones performance is considered scam. If samsung know its a problem and still use the chip, its their problem not ours. And if they decide to use GOS, then tell customers. Or advertise the speed you get with GOS turned on. Thats it

  • Your video have some point but is misleading, and half of fault is due Golden Reviewer graph. If you check the graph only, is really your conclusion but the game with GOS on start throttling later, due the cpu and gpu limiter. Still worse with GOS enabled, but is a trade off with perfomance x battery and thermal

    @SaebaRyoh@SaebaRyoh2 жыл бұрын
    • Yes gos on does still throttle, but from other tests as well as reviews ive seen; the big issue is the power consumption and increased heat and thermals. Overtime, anything over 5 or even 6 watts creates problems later down for road according to my studies as it pertains to smartphones. I do think that it is possible to have gos disabled and properly managed with a phone cooler to accommodate the high power consumption - but that would mean always having a phone cooler when playing any demanding game due to there being no restrictions (safety precautions) on power consumption. But at the end its just my opinion and I hope to not mislead but give people another perspective to think about before Disable GOS

Have a Daily driver for photography etc (Perfect use for a budget phone or an s22 ultra). Have phone for gaming...rog phone anyone? the new one has a fan with a kickstand and extra buttons, it is a beast. This strategy also drastically reduces how much data tracking can affect you. Do you use the same computer for gaming as you do for your office job? do you plug your laptop into your car so your car can do computing tasks? EVERYONE uses multiple computers as it is. Smartphones, Smart TVS, gaming consoles, car compute modules, etc etc etc etc.

  • Please don't make dubious statements. 1. For tasks which not require highest speed, are seven from the eight processor cores there. An additional break is absolutely unnecessary. 2. With the overheating problems one can work with other methods without throttling. Damaging the device is still far from the gaming overheating. 3. If the firm don't want to deliver high speed processing smartphones, should not request the astronomical prices. So it is betrayal.

Red Magic 7 with SD 8 gen 1 can easily run Genshin stable at over 55 fps, it's even better than iPhone 13 Pro Max. People should think of high-end phone like camera and color accuracy phone, or phone with stylus. That is why only highest-end phones have those features. Majority of people need good camera, color display, or stylus than gaming in business wise. I love how people keep complaining about high-end phones that are not a pure gaming phone, couldn't gaming.
