  • Seeing it at first in real-time I was baffled what happened there. The slow-mo reveleals a lot, and it reminds how easy it is to take slow-mo footage out of context and make something look dirty or what not. Boro just collided to the backboards and the puck was a bit out of reach, so he leaned forward towards the puck, while Frost simply kept his lane to finish the very benign hit. Very unfortunate, and very random but in the end it's hockey. No one did anything malicious, the dice just rolled this way.

      @Deenaziamazinjg14@Deenaziamazinjg14 Жыл бұрын
    • @@pwrofrob Well, no matter how hard you train and prepare your body for physical punishment, the head and the brain cannot be trained for hits. Even a seemingly mild hit can knock anyone out. First, B was in a very low position when he reached for the puck. Second, and very importantly, the hit made his head rotate. That's integral for knocking someone out. As many boxers know, a straight hit to the forehead might not knock someone out. If you swing from the side and rotate the head, the opponent is out. The brain is a very sensitive body part, and we need to protect it at almost all costs. The hit is much worse than people think. His finger was twisted, which often is a sign of a disconnection between the brain's nerve signals and the muscles. My guess, severe concussion. Given this, there are things all hockey players should do. 1. Never reach. 2. Keep your head up 3. Don't send suicide passes. 4. When hitting other players, even if they have trash-talked you or injured a team-mate, do not hit his head. If you do hit a player by mistake in the head - grab him, and make sure that his head do not him the ice. From a statistical point of view, it's a miracle that only one fatality has been recorded. However, if players adhere to 1-4 above, risks are lowered.

  • Not much in the way of protection of the thoracic spine, or even the upper column in the those shoulder pad rigs. Considering the speed with which he was totally and completely lights out, and the footage of the hit, he may have had a spinal compression, considering his arms were extended that further exacerbates the spinal vulnerability at the point of Frost's very slight contact. Almost looked like Neurogenic Shock tbh. God be with him and his fam! Terrifying moment for sure!

    • When I was 10 I was chasing a kid on a breakaway, I was a defender and made a poor defensive play giving it up. The kid lost an edge and I went flying in the air head first into the boards like in the air perpendicular to the ice from before the goal line. I was hauling ass. I heard a whistle and woke up to both coaches and the 2 refs standing over me. I didnt feel any different once I came to. I had to leave the ice for a shift per the rules. I was pissed about that. Lol. My dad told me that's why my only non second hand equipment was a helmet lmao. He said it was the best $200 he ever spent (this was in the late 90s so it was a higher end one).

  • That was super awkward. I don’t play hockey but that looked so innocent.

  • I'm sure there was no ill intent by Frosty on this one, just an awkward position.. Hoping for a speedy recovery for BORO!

  • It was just unfortunate thing, it didn't even look that hard, but something happened, because his neck twisted to the dasher and at the same time he hit his jaw there

  • He’s lucky he landed the way he did. He was out before he hit the ice and he couldn’t smashed his face pretty easily but he didn’t.

  • Ref didn't put his arm up until he realized, wait he's hurt. It is either a penalty or not. Shouldn't be based on the result (drew blood means double or major, no blood just two minutes). Great game but a weird aspect of it.

  • Could he have already had a concussion and this was the result of not sitting out? It wasn't the standard headshot, just a hockey play.

  • My heart started racing when he hit the boards; the angle was weird, and i knew he was hurt. Prayers for him and his family. Hate seeing players getting hurt like that. I am a flyers fan, but a hockey fan as well. Well wishes❤❤

  • Probably the least significant part of this: I don't know what happened here WRT penalties, but the referees can only review this play if they call a major penalty. So in this case (and lots of others, where this doesn't happen), the ref should have called a major penalty, then reviewed it (and nullified the original call, since there was no penalty). The NHL should change the rules to allow plays to be reviewed (shortly) after the fact, without having to call anything first. But, they allow the referees to review goals without calling anything first and that rarely happens, so would the referees even use the ability?

    • What needs to be reviewed? It was a clean hit that unfortunately boro was in a bad position to take

    • @@Deenaziamazinjg14 What needs to be reviewed is situations where the referee suspects something may have happened but didn't actually see it. Your choice: bad calls or a review and maybe the right (non)call?

  • Notice how the referee's arm didn't go up until he saw the player on the ice not moving? He thought the play was good until he thought "Uh oh, I must've missed something" lol

  • Shows how bad the leagues reffing is when it all seemed normal till he was out cold and then the ref decided to then call a delayed penalty?
