  • For those curious: Updates provided post-game revealed it was back spasm and that he'll make a full recovery. Scary stuff and I honestly got really choked up seeing him get stretchered off. Reminded me of last season when Kero took a heavy shot to the head.

Worst one was when a shot broke the chin of my mask and the puck hit me in the throat. I couldn't breathe but I held my chin down as hard as I could till the whistle was blown. Hope he's ok.

    • If you look at his body language while making those secondary saves it looks like he's struggling to hold that position, so I'd wager yeah, he was in pain quite quickly. Really weird looking injury though. Did he just like, overstrain a muscle or something?

  • I don't know how the announcer thinks this is an abnormal position for the goalie. This is exactly what happens every time you try and stretch out the butterfly to one side to catch a fast skater. This was a totally normal, and great, reaction save. Hope its just an isolated incident and doesn't have any disk or more long term injury, I clicked on link and was expecting him to get run into by player.

    • @@Ratstick58 As a former goalie, I know, flopping around on that cold ice, in sweaty, wet clothing, heavy gear, you may pull something at any moment, especially, when you are stretched out to the max, and have (big) players running into, falling on you. • @@user-zi4pr8wy2b Yup! Everyone wants to be the big hero that wins a game by scoring one or more goals. Whereas, the goalie that makes the big saves, that wins a game, gets little recognition. Just the blame when the team loses. Actually, most players know the goalie position is the most demanding, courageous position to play. I was standing with a bunch of players behind the net, off ice, when someone drilled a shot that went over the net into the glass in front of our faces. They all jumped back, not me. One looks at me and says, How can you play that position? I just smiled. Most people I know, don't know, I caught a slap shot in the face on the bridge of my nose while not wearing a mask. My doctor, profession hockey team doctor, and men's league player told me a inch higher I would be dead. Also told me to start wearing a mask. Four days later, after the swelling went down from the stitches, trauma, back on the ice, with one of those clear plastic masks.
