One of the core elements of Zelda is breaking into people's homes and smashing their personal belongings, so let's see how fast we can do it.

  • It’s funny that the first two Zelda games don’t have pots in them, considering they were documented as prequels to A Link to the Past by Miyamoto. That would mean that the Link from A Link to the Past broke every single pot in Hyrule, before the timeline got updated with more games.

    • I'd personally put MM and BotW in their own category. You don't have to do too much, just play some minutes of the intro. Not comparable imo to actually beating fucking dungeons. So I'd go: 1 to 10 -- 11 to 12 -- 13 to 18 (I guess LoZ and AoL don't really count).

  • Could easily save 10+ seconds in ocarina of time by just going back inside Link's house after talking to Saria! Link has his own pot that just doesn't spawn during the intro I guess, probably to hide it from you.

    • After the intro in Link's house is the only time in normal gameplay that you're left in control on an alternate scene setup (which are normally reserved for minigames and cutscenes). You can tell it's happening also because your C buttons aren't dimmed, and actually all C items would be usable if only you had any to equip. If you immediately did a savewarp, you could skip talking to Saria, but it wouldn't be faster.

  • A little bit of unknown lore - pots were invented during the filming of the 1990 movie Ghost. Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze's ghost were just messing around with some clay and accidentally created a pot. Not too long after that, Shigeru Miyamoto made a business trip to the Nintendo of America headquarters. He was racking his mind for some hook for the next Legend of Zelda game to be released for the Super Famicom. On a late night flight back to Japan, he ended up seeing the inflight movie Ghost and had the inspiration that would shape Zelda games for years to come.

The Gamecube version retains Link's left-handedness, but subsequent releases (Wii, HD remake) made him right-handed, owing to using motion controls, and most people being right-handed. For me, personally, having played all three versions, the Gamecube version feels the most charming. Something was lost when they flipped it. I don't know how to explain it other than, it lost some of its soul. Most videos showing TP use the Wii or HD versions, so it's nice to see the Gamecube version.
