"Don't be poor" always reminds me of my housemate. I decode to go back to school and tuition and fees are exhorbitant and she's like: Why don't you ask your parents? Don't be poor. Have wealthy parents.
Josh Johnson is hilarious, but that tax expert was so deadpan and his timing was great, I think he really made the sketch 😄

Daily show is still a deep state propaganda machine. I hate to see people I love working there. I hated to see Trevor there. Trevor was probably let go because he was becoming too frequent in exposing hypocrisy.

I've really enjoyed a lot of the new correspondents...the way Josh looks at the camera when the guy says "dying" was absolutely perfect.
I love their chemistry! ... That accountant's dry humor is endearing and harsh at the same time -- and of course, Josh is just awesome ... Those two need to do more money/finance/investing segments.
"That's why i don't sleep very much".... felt that to the core, when you're doing something wrong, your conscience will keep you up. Money can't buy peace.
Unless you are a sociopath, psychopath, or a malignant narcissist, then you don't have to worry about that whole "conscience" business.
Money can't buy peace, but it can afford an army of attorneys and an awful lot of bribes in a country without an extradition treaty. Next best thing. As the saying goes, money can't buy happiness, but it can lease it.
The world is wrong, this guy ain't. We all play a part in corruption if you follow the trail far enough.

Really appreciated the closing remark about how roads will be built if every one uses the loopholes. I don't want to pay less taxes as much as I want the rich to pay more taxes.
Thats the trick, most of the loopholes only work if you already have a ton of money. The other big loophole is investments. If you invest money, that gets taxed by the capital gains tax rate, which is significantly lower than the NORMAL income rate. Thats where most of the wealthy make their money, and not through an income by actually working. You literally get taxed less for sitting around and letting your money earn money, than you do if you work for a living. its a completely backwards system. So poor people cant really dodge taxes like rich people. Thats the entire point of most of these loopholes.
"Deferment" is having 10's of millions of dollars and then taking loans against it, then when you die, the loans go away in part but your descendents keep the assets, so just be born rich and no problem!
@@eragon78just investing isn't enough. The lower tax rates are only for investments that you have held for over a year. Otherwise, you pay the regular income tax + penalties in some states. So, it's a risk that they have to take. That keeps the stock market a bit more stable. You can't just buy and sell at will.
You want the rich to pay more, but the rich want you to pay more. Guess who’s been winning this battle for decades?

I had only seen Josh a few times, in rather silly roles, where I wasn't able to fully appreciate his depth and range, but after watching "get to know Johsh Johnson", I've been a big fan of his style and witty deliveries. You can't even write off the interest on your house unless it's super high because you have a super expensive home (like a million dollar one, I think) ... I was so excited about finally being able to write off interest on my taxes when I bought my home in 2017 ... And that loop hole was closed to middle class homeowners in 2018 : ( ... And for those of us with side hustles: You now have to include any money earned over like $500 ... where it used to be like $5,000 or something like that ... Social welfare for the rich, free enterprise for the poor.
I bought my house in 2016. I got to reap the benefits for a very short while.

As someone who does step ups for dead people at the bank I work for… yeah. Dying while holding your assets and passing them on is a huge tax avoidance. Totally legal. But, hard to swollow sometimes seeing some of these accounts going into trusts to be dispersed at the new cost basis and therefore lower tax consequences.
Seeing Josh on the Daily Show makes me so happy! He’s really the only reason why I know anything about the news right now.

Most of their wealth is in stocks and bond . They take out loans against their investments and can use that as spending money while their investments compound. When they do need to sell capital gains tax is like 15% or something. What I haven’t been able to figure out is the interest rate and payment scheduled for These loans

I once wondered if the whole "rich people get more readily access to costly accountants that understand the complex tax system so these rich people get to save money from tax" was a way to create another group of people (accountants) whose income the government could tax....
