  • Nice looking, well equipped and priced right (although I expect you won't get out the door under 65k). Shame about the powertrain. I don't want a 4 banger hybrid in my truck. Ever. But in 10+ years I'll be looking for one LS swap and add a solid axle..

    • I do understand your concern about hybrids, but it is not valid. I do have a hybrid Lexus for more than 10 years, 100K+ miles on it, I have no problems with the battery or anything else. Also unlike electric vehicles it is easy and cheap (5-6K) to replace the battery. Toyota knows how to do hybrids, you won't be disappointed. They are not like Jeeps, BMWs. I am planning to get a LC or the new 4runner and replace my Lexus. I. might wait for the second editions though.

    • That sound is audio coming from a speaker when the engine is off to warn people.

    • No, it’s not. The car is under power and rolling up when I hear the sound and the engine is on, not off. It’s the electric motor. Watch again that’s why I provided a starting time and an ending time. You're talking about the engine off warning when using the auxiliary power port to power external devices, camping gear, power tools, work lights etc. Not the same thing I'm mentioning.

    • @@Ownuout i have a honda crv hybrid . the engine shuts off and the electric motor moves the vehicle at low speeds. that sound is a safety feature coming from a speaker.

    • @@marcus-zq3mp You don’t really know you’re just speculating based on a completely different car. You confused me at first saying the engine is off but I get it. The gas powered engine is off BUT the electric motor is still moving the car. Whatever tomato tomato it’s an annoying sound and if it’s coming from a speaker well that’s just dumb. I was excited about this Land Cruiser till I found out the four-cylinder hybrid engine. I’m actually due for a car refresh in one year to two years so I will save my money until they come out with the V6 version, like the Lexus. Unfortunately I feel split like a lot of people interested in the Land Cruiser. Love the look, but not the engine and like the engine of the Lexus, but don’t love the look.

  • The appeal of a land cruiser, in addition to its off roading abilities, is it's longevity. As measured in decades. it's going to be a tough sell to get people to think of hybrids as having longevity.

  • Toyota missed the mark. The name is an icon, this is not. 4cyl turbo, the same reason I won’t buy a new Tacoma. I guess Toyota thought that 4XE was a good idea and selling well. The only thing they hit correct was the body on frame and the aesthetics.
