I've said it before... the consistency of the toss combined with fluid forward motion and head control after contact puts her serve in a class of its own. The ending body position with weight always moving toward the center of the court is unrivaled. That toss though... no one has more consistent and reliable toss. Perfect height and same slot every time.
Ugh Serena serve is so smooth and simple yet hard to duplicate! I’m still trying to study it to add it to my game. Her serve is literally the best in tennis

Of the 4 finalists that year, she had hit the most aces throughout the tournament. That's a huge achievement, since Federer is an amazing server.

Serena has a fluid and consistent service motion. Whether she's holding a wooden racket or a modern racket, her serve would still be dangerous. She's able to disguise her serve and send the opponent the wrong way. She didn't have the most powerful serve. Venus Williams and Sabine Lisciki were capable of hitting faster serves, but no one apart from Serena has that technically sound serve that's able to hold up under pressure. For some one to hit over 100 aces in a best of 3 format is beyond incredible.

Still can't believe that Aga managed to get that set from Serena, while Vika and Petra didn't. Aga was a master of making her opponent extremely bored though, and as Jankovic said "every ball hit by Aga was an invitation to crush it with your own power, and then you went for it and hit a huge error because you used too much power on your own. Serena can thank her serve for starting to work in 3rd set in that 4 aces game, because at 1 point Aga was leading in 3rd set and Serena was making huge errrors
She led because she served first.
Yet she still lost with all that said. Go Serena!

And to think that some people think that steffi was the greatest of all time is a joke. Serena by far as evidence here that her serve and overall game was far and above everyone else to ever play women’s tennis. Absolutely the GOAT!!!! Steffi voters keep trying to make your case, but any argument you make is futile lol.
And even Steffi said that her serve was nowhere near as effective as Serena's. She was really amazed at (maybe even in awe of) Serena's serve.
If a female tennis player with an accurate serve and decent volley was willing to sacrifice their feminine physique and pump some serious iron to build strength, they’d have manly arms and muscles but would dominate their opponents…like to the point where they could beat up most men in a fist fight like Serena could :)
