In college I worked at an arena doing stages, sound work, and electrical stuff for shows. Had the opportunity to interact with a lot of cool people. Playboi Carti was the absolute worse. Show started late because he was paranoid people would be taking photos of him leaving his trailer. Same story with him leaving his dressing room and we could not leave until we put equipment back in the warehouse his bus was blocking. When he was going between bus and dressing room all workers had to go into our storage room so that nobody could look at him. They ended up only paying him 250k thanks to Adin's security guard pressing him. The money was actually Eddie's, owner of Kick. Adin also said Carti has apologized and they plan to do a real stream at Adin's warehouse someday. I kind of doubt that's going to happen though lol. 250k was well worth it for all the publicity this got Kick and Adin though. Kick was the #1 downloaded app that day.

This regularly happens to nightclubs. Rappers will charge clubs to "host" an event (and imply they MIGHT perform) then will generally show up for 5 minutes, take 1 photo and then leave. (I've seen certain rappers charge 500k-2mil for this) Carti likely thought this would be a simmilar situation that he could show up and leave.
Super off-base comment. Those aren't the fees, him and Adin had discussions over 3 days about this and things were agreed on. To say they're "generally" showing up for 5 minutes + 1 photo isn't real in any way as well. I've booked many apperances.
I wouldn't be surprised if carti wanted to cancel but was convinced to come back in for a percentage of the money, just as an appearance fee. Getting 'scammed' like this just reeks of a viral marketing attempt.
I don’t see how this is marketing for either of them. Nobody is impressed with playboy Carti for this and nobody became a fan of Adin because of this. In a weeks time nobody will be talking about this. That’s not exactly successful viral marketing. For someone who’s built this “mysterious” persona through these cringy stunts, it would actually be better marketing and more viral to just actually appear on the stream 😂
