Thank you all for your support in 2022! Appreciate you all completing the viewers checklist 😏 & I look forward to our journey together! Let's make 2023 a year to remember! Will I meet some of you at the pilot expo? I wish you all a happy new year! ❤😘 Sponsored by NordVPN: www.nordvpn.com/dpg
Why is Iceland green and Greenland is icy? 🤔
@@DrNauseous Iceland can be icy as well ;)
When and where is the pilot expo taking place?
I wish I could go to the Pilot expo, sounds exciting, but... uni 📚🩺 Michelle, will you be making a video from the expo? PS. Thank you for another video and Happy New Year to you.
@@sonumandal9450 Berlin on the 24th and 25th of February.
When I was 16, my father gave me as my present a 1-hour flight in a Cessna 152 with an instructor to see if my dream to be a pilot was real or not. Turns out that the courage necessary to follow that particular dream was lacking. My life, at least my career, was meant to be on the ground. I became a chef. After 40 years I have no regret. But I have the utmost respect for those of you who manage to make the dream of flight come true. And I appreciate all of your videos; it's through your eyes (and lenses) I get to see what it would have been like. Thank you!
I did the opposite of your profession. I spent 26 years flying in the military. Wanted to get grounded and then pursued a cooking /culinary career. Now 15 years later, I have returned to aviation. I still remain connected to culinary, but my heart has returned to aviation. I love both passions, but aviation is something that is second nature to me. I was called back to this passion and am happy to return to it.
good birthday present !!!
You won be proud. I lost since 1987 I tried so hard until 2015 to make that dream come true and failed as ageists won eventually, now suicide is the only way out from the nightmare of failure. Don't follow your dreams, it will ruin your life, let others gloat their success online but its all about them your wasting your life watching it. In the end its zero about you. They lie to you from birth with that your special, then they say follow your dreams. All a lie. Positivity, ambition, etc. Its really about everyone taking advantage of you until your left with nothing. Aim low and ignore the noise go your own way. I wish I had now its just too late.
@@takethat941 are you okay? Maybe I am imagining things, you sound hurt to me.
@@MikeGormez Are you being inappropriately sarcastic, or a whole as clear as it gets text of pure pain and suffering venting, containing the word suicide, isn't enough for you to understand the obvious?
This brings back great memories! I lived in Keflavik back in 1987. I haven't been back, but Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries I've ever been to. I lived on the Navy base, and so I could see the flight line from my barracks room back then. I'm not sure how things are now, but I loved it there! I did my flight training in Spain, but I'd love to fly to Iceland and see it at my leisure now. Thank you for such great videos!! I love the on-screen prompts with various tidbits of information, too! I also like the breakaway shots showing the charts! Your videos are very high quality. I'd like to see more of the cockpits though (at least in this one). Multiple camera angles would really be great! Happy new year, beautiful lady!! I wish you all the best for 2023, and I look forward to many more wonderful videos.
Ik ben 75 jaar oud en Ik heb nooit met so mooi en pilot gevlogen. Ik ben ook pilot voor de laatste 60 jaren. Ik hep un l-29 en C-340A.
Wow MIchelle, how far you have come, even in just 1 year. You KNOW I have been a fan and a friend for a while now and I just LOVE this channel and all the videos. Congratulations on the milestones, (especially the Dream of a new house) and thank you for filling the hearts of wanna be pilots everywhere. You really are a hero to us all.
Thank you for your kind words Steve!
I lived up in Iceland from 1986 to 1989 and loved every minute of it, There were so many different areas to explore. I am hoping to get back up there to visit this coming year
I love your videos, both take offs and landings. It just amazes me those tiny dials and buttons along with the pilot control the plane. Looks so hard. Keep up the videos, love them!
Love aviation; just found your channel. This is so unique, without all of the talking which consistently is going on in most videos. With the visual cues you provide it provides a MUCH better perspective on the pilot experience and let’s the viewer experience the timing of things, especially the increased workload as altitude decreased. It is easy to imagine how pilots become overwhelmed if a crisis occurs at the wrong time. Beautiful flare. I thought the sink rate sounded really fast the last 50 feet, but nope: nailed it!
Was stationed at Keflavik for 2 years. I could see the building that housed my office off to the east of Rwy 01. Had the best job of my career there, but it was, at that time, a difficult place to live. Even travel was challenging, as Icelandair was the only airline that was allowed to fly international routes from the island.
This past August, I flew from Stockholm into Iceland on Iceland Air. As we approached the airport, the pilot came over the intercom to tell us he would fly around an active volcano so get your cameras ready. He flew a 360 around the volcano, dipping the wing to get a really good angle to view the lava eruption and lava flow field. I got some very nice photos. Hats off to that crew on Iceland Air.
That's cool!
Could you upload some of these pictures please, if it's possible somewhere in youtube?
That's got a real dad-on-road-trip-wants-to-see-something-so-everyone-has-to-come-along type of energy 😅 The pilot wasn't missing that
@@krzysztofkubicki7192 Don’t see a way to upload pictures. I’m using an iPad. Maybe I could send to an email address.
Thank you very much for letting us approach with you Kevlavik!🙂👍 A Happy New Year to You!💥✈
Thank you Michelle for producing these videos. I look forward to more of those in the upcoming year.
Best of both World’s. We get to see the cockpit activity and coming through the clouds over a beautiful landscape. Your production standards are high and more professional looking all the time. Thank you
Perfect landing, as always. So rewarding to watch someone happy and comfortable in their work, very highly skilled & yet still able to find the time to put informative & interesting videos out on KZhead. Jealous? Definitely.
Great landing, again, as usual. I love how your landing videos are always so smooth and easy. One could even say "boring", but that's exactly the way they should be. The scenery is always awesome and I love to peeks into airports I have not yet visited. You're an inspiration to young would be pilots and passengers everywhere, particularly young women who may consider a career like this out of their reach. I'll share this video with my granddaughter, whom I hope will feel a sense of empowerment for her own ambitions. Thanks so much!
If your grand daughter loves aviation get her set up on MSFS2020 on a pc. Best place to practice IMHO. Good luck and hope you can one day live the dream 👍🏼🤞🏻
A perfect landing in a beautiful country. I was stationed in Keflavik in the early 1980's. What a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors. The waterfalls, lava fields, and glaciers were majestic. The weather you experienced is a far cry from the snowy windy winters where it was snowing 300 miles away and the flakes were landing in Keflavik. I flew in and out of Keflavik as a passenger on military aircraft many times but never got to enjoy a view from the flight deck. Thanks for the video and the opportunity to remember some good memories.
That was cool as. What a great camera angle, never seen anything like that before. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year.
Thank you Michelle for being a great ambassador of aviation! Happy New Year 2023!
I really enjoyed watching your approach to Keflavik, having flown into there as an IcelandAir passenger. Your video is very easy to follow with the popups showing flaps, IAS, altitude, etc. And a nice sterile cockpit!
Always feels amazing for me as a native Icelander to come in for landing in Keflavík airport. Thanks for sharing.
You have the best personality, looks and disposition on the whole internet!
GREAT video! This brought back memories of my 1 year tour while stationed at BIKF in 1992 flying on the KC-135A with the USAF. Thank You! V/R Chuck
Love your channel, and impressed with your skill and professionalism. What a great and smooth landing!
Once again an amazing video and 737 approach. Thank you sm for your time, Michelle! 🙂
Happy New Year to you Michelle. It has to be said thankyou so much for taking the time to share these great videos.
Great landing, Michelle! The videos are always laid out nicely, great graphics, and super high def resolution views. Good luck with all of your upcoming plans, and I hope the new year brings you good health and happiness!
Thanks Rick! Happy new year!
As with all true professionals, you make the process look effortless. It is a pleasure to watch you work!
I took some lessons a long time ago. One thing I appreciated was transitioning from flying to driving a really heavy tricycle really fast. I had a tricycle when I was a child and the damn thing would tip over every time I tried to turn a corner. Bicycles were easier and motorcycles even better. In fifty years of riding I only dropped a motorcycle once cornering on a patch of gravel. I really appreciate your videos. Informative and fun. Thanks and have a happy and prosperous New Year.
What can I say Awesome!! Love the detail, call outs, and general flight info. All the best in 2023 keep Flying High, Enjoy and best of Luck with the Flight Academy. Cheers
I find this approach to make videos very informative and great, especially for those, fighting with ATPL exams, when one can learn much more from a video rather than reading tons of articles. Same as in this video, some aspects of operational procedures have been covered and clearly explained on a real life example. Very few words said by her, but very much shown and explained at the same time
Good luck with your exams!
Stunning approach and landing! Its been an amazing year, You always make me amazed with your videos! From your first solo to travelling the globe! I want to do just that! Thank you for an amazing year!
Glad to hear you like the video!
Great video with informative captions on whats happening. Your landing spot on smooth. Happy New Year!!
What a nice calm approach to Keflavik! Happy and healthy 2023 Michelle!!
fortunate enough to visit Iceland several times on business, great people and very unique landscape
A co-worker of mine went to Iceland several years ago, and the pictures that he & his wife brought back were nothing short of breathtaking. What a beautiful, untamed landscape.
Another fantastic video. Thank you for sharing. Best parts of a flight for me are take of and landing, love it.
Love your presentation and videos (with cool and informative callouts), and the greased landing. Continued success to you in 2023.
I spent a year in Iceland and lived on the airport there in Keflavik. Things were a lot different in 1968 when I was there. Looking forward to going back there this summer. Looks like that airport has really changed. Thanks for a GREAT video. Happy New Year and all the best in 2023.
i was stationed there in 1981-82 with the Air Force. i spend a lot of time out at the end of the runway providing Security for the F-4 alert birds. we weren't allowed to carry any electronic devices on our persons but if i had them, i would've had hundreds of videos of DC-8s coming in for a landing with the aircraft flying 30 degrees off approach and straightening up just before touchdown. those 40-80 MPH winds are nasty in the winter.
I was stationed there while in the Navy back in 1968-1969. I worked in the large hangar by the water tower in the OMD. I joined the Navy flying club and received my Icelandic pilot license as well as my US pilot license and have enjoyed a wonderful career in aviation. Bless.
Flew to Iceland at the beginning of November. It is stunning.
Hell yes! Awesome video! 24 years in naval aviation and 15 at Boeing on new developmental programs and I still get excited about airplanes and flying :)
Glad to hear that you're going to make a couple of videos a month. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful view on this landing, the air is so pure ! Thanks for this video 🙂
Yea, pure air. Maybe low humidity due to COLD.
Are women allowed to fly planes!??

Beautiful as always. Iceland is one of my bucket list places.
Amazing job !! I enjoy your episodes each and every time ! God Bless and Happy New Year!
The sky was so blue, and plenty of it too, with no trees spoiling the view.
As a pilot who uses checklists at home (departure, arrival, etc.) I really like your Viewers Checklist. Well played! :)
Thank you Michelle for another awesome video. Super way to end the year. Your approach to creating the content on the videos are exceptional, the brilliance is in its simplicity. Every video is a learning experience. Your landing was perfect !! Wishing you a wonderful and fabulous 2023 !!! God Bless.
Thank you for your kind words Ranjan, truly appreciate it! Happy new year!
@@DutchPilotGirl Thank you !
I enjoy your videos so much! I’m entertained every time I watch one. Now, when I fly, I engage in a little banter with the pilots by noticing their stripes and ask silly questions like, “are you in the left seat today?” If I’m not upgraded, I usually sit in the exit row and watch the flaps during landing and feel like I know what is going on because I’ve been looking over your shoulder for so many videos! I’ve logged over two million miles in the air and you’ve made flying fun again! Thank you Michelle and have a FANTASTIC 2023!!
Very well done video. Loved it! Congrats Michelle!
Wow, was 40 years ago I flew into Keflavik. This video just brought memories flooding back. Thank you.
Glad to hear that Jules!
Glad to see the back of 2022, all the best for 2023 Michelle 😎
You too!
That was so cool! Video came up randomly in my suggested and I’m glad it did. Thank you for an insight into what pilots do 😊
That was a very nice smooth landing from what i saw. Very nice video. Keep up the good work.
My hometown and my airport, smooth landing in great conditions, well done !
Such a cool place I should have moved there years ago !
Iceland is the most amazing country I've ever been to.
One of my favorite countries to visit. Especially during the winter. Happy new year Michelle and may all of your wishes come true. Cheers Mark
Beautiful! Your videos are so inspiring. Loved the “Viewer’s Checklist”, too!
Bedankt voor dit geweldige video, I am a big fan of Iceland, watching you touch down made me feel happy again!❤
Done !
Love these videos. Only just found them. Thank you. Safe travels.
Great video as usual in your channel. Inclusion of LIDO chart images is a plus. Great work. Wish you the best in this new year.
That was a very nice approach and landing! I have the impression that this flight was very smooth--such that as a passenger it’d have been very comfortable, including a soft touchdown. The views of Iceland are captivating! Reminiscent of Hawaii but very different too! Hey, I liked the Viewer’s Checlist!😊 One request to make your excellent videos even better (if that’s even possible!): could you increase the font size of the legends? Thank you in advance!! This was an awesome way to cap 2022!! This is the year I subscribed to your channel!! 😊 This year showed illnesses of several colleagues of mine (not COVID), but they are or have already recovered from serious conditions. This year I joined the pipeline operations team for a space mission; only 2 of us (pilot and copilot, with exchanging roles). My colleague indeed flies small aircraft as a hobby! We do lots of checks and balances, and intervene in incidents before they become crisis situations. Your videos and teachings are not too unlike what we experience, both on the spacecraft and on ground control systems. Thank you for your awesome inspiration!!! Sending you and yours love and warm wishes for a fabulous 2023!! 2022 has been so thanks to all your work! -Sergio
Thanks for your kind words Sergio! I will think about increasing the font :) Happy new year!
I apologize for asking this but could you develop a course for sale that would teach us neophytes what you do, how you do it, software used, equipment recommendations for equipment you use? The video where you synched the audio (ATC and you) and the great graphics showing you matching the switches, levers and glass and gauge settings? Even if you create things using a recommended simulator? The fast landing angle video was fantastic. I can't even imagine how much work it took to develop it. The only thing better than that was both your professionalism and natural beauty. Just a thought. I know how short we are of pilots thanks to the stupid 1,500 hour licensing rule (any other countries doing 1,500 hours because two fatigued pilots lost it in Buffalo in bad weather, or because of the age limit, and if course, the whole COVID debacle that took crew and pilots off the employee available list when CDC admited that they knew since 2020 that all of this was not necessary. Finally, we have a DOT leader who has done nothing but say yes to his boss and then fly private and fix nothing. I'm sorry for the rant but our reputation for airports and related infrastructure and policies is on the bottom of the list. Passengers blame the faces that they see and the all the pressure is put on everyone associated with the travel. If you could start your own one or two employee LLC, it might take some pressure off of you. Can't wait until I can set up a simulator. Thank You Michelle for so much patience and effort. You truly are a joy. An admirer from the USA.
2012 flew from New York to Reykjavik. Landing at around 8:30AM. This meant that early in the morning we were between Canada and Iceland. WOW the Northern Lights lit up the sky and instead of sleeping we just stared out the window of the plane in amazement. Iceland is a place well worth a visit at least once in your life.
I just stumbled across this channel, such a cool video and very inspirational. I've always wondered what the pilots view was on these kind of flights. I returned to Ireland recently from a holiday and gained a new appreciation for flying, what I seen out of the window was truly beautiful.
Always amazing videos Michelle. Look forward to them. Glad to hear you will have two a month this year. Hope you have a great year.👍
Hii Michelle! ❤ This was worth the long wait. How was your Christmas? Did you see northern lights in Iceland? Happy New Year and all the very best for 2023! Would love to see landing into Samos and Kos in any of your forthcoming uploads!
Thanks Sonu, I had a lovely Christmas at home :) Haven't seen the northern lights myself yet... hopefully one day! Happy new year!!
Beautiful approach and picture perfect landing in Iceland Michelle. Hope you had a nice Christmas and you have a Happy and Healthy New Year! We were in Amsterdam in November for a trade show at the RAI and will be back in 2023 for the same show. Visited Zaanse Schans but needed more time to visit Den Haag, Haarlem, and Utrecht. Oh well, next trip. The best time to see the Aurora (Northern Lights) is on a moonless night. The moon was full when flying from SEA to LHR/AMS so there was no chance. Congratulations on the construction of your new home!
Thank you so much for your videos and uplifting words as always Michelle! Your positivity and ambition has really helped me during a couple of hard years and I have decided at 36 to change my life and go after my dreams of becoming a pilot no matter the obstacles and my old age. I recently quite my miserable job and moved back home to go to airline school full time and also had my first 1 hour flight towards my PPL last week and loved it! Now I am deciding on what airline school to choose over the next couple weeks and I will be going full time to get my hours and training done as quickly as possible, Ik I have a few long years ahead to get to 1500 hours but I wanted to ask what school would you recommend an American taking if you know of any? I researched ATP but wanted to see some others because it is so expensive but highly recognized. God bless and well wishes to you and your family in 2023!
Hi Nick, its always difficult to recommend a specific flight school but we created a map with 200 of the most popular flight schools. You can find it here: www.yourpilotacademy.com/flight-schools good luck and happy new year!

that skimming through the cloud layer was so cool. reminds me of back in the day driving in fog with the top down on my MGB.
For those who have never been, Iceland is as close as you'll get to visiting another planet.
There's a few places like that in the western USA, and throughout other parts of this orb. :o) But i get it,...would love to go see for myself.
Been there. I can only agree with you sir. My only problem with recommending beautifull places to visit, is that it's a never ending chain of more and more people that will want to go visit and therefore will produce more and more emissions by using fuel burning transport vehicles like airplanes. If all of humanity would just go anywhere they'd like, global warming would increase extremely fast and our world would become so polluted, that we would destroy all of its amazing nature (like the the nature and glaciers in Iceland). So yes, visit if you really want to(because everybody deserves to see such beautifull nature), but don't take it for granted, and try your best in life to reduce your carbon footprint, so all of us and our children get to see it again sometime.
@@PRYDAX Agreed. When asked "What was it like?" I describe it as otherworldly. When asked if they should go I tell them it depends on your motive.
