MOVED TO TEARS!!! As the mother of 3 adult children, the youngest currently Active Duty, this video brought me to tears. I have been following you for years, and you have never disappointed. I have commented over the years about how gifted you are and how blessed we are to have the opportunity to watch your journey, but this last video struck that nerve that reduced me personally to need the box of tissues. Barry, your ability to tell a story is precious, and something I feel compelled to encourage at any and every opportunity. God Blessed you with so many talents, and I pray you continue to use them in whatever copassity to touch the hearts of your viewers. You are so much more than a KZhead content creator. Thank you thank you thank you so much for this heartfelt "love, appreciation, respect, memorial video to those who gave service to this country. If we don't as a country honor those who came before, we can't expect the same for those currently holding the fort today. As a fellow Wiscosinite, mother, and grandma, I feel an extra since of pride, and I'm sure your parents could not be more proud of you. Thank you for this precious video, message and congratulations for another phenomenal project. What a wonderful heirloom you created to pass onto the next generation.
So many special comments. This one has to be one of my favorites. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. This comment alone made the project worth building. Barry
I share your sentiments. I too was moved to tears
@@MadCityModern ❤️ 🇺🇸
Oh Dear Barry, your beautiful piece dedicated to your Grandfathers, has touched me deeply. I’m trying to type this while I’m crying. My father served in the Korean Conflict, Army. This video reminded me so much of him. He raised us kids to respect and love our country, our flag, and to always remember those who served and those who gave their lives to this country. My Dad’s father served in World War I. He died later on in life from the mustard gas. Well done Sir, and I KNOW both your Grandfathers were with you every step of the way, while you built that. They will always, like me, with my Dad be with you in spirit always. Thank you, Joyce ❤️🙏🇺🇸
Thank you for sharing this Joyce
Wow, Barry! This is the most honorable, tribute to your grandfather's and to all the soldiers that so bravely fight for our country! Absolutely beautiful job! 😊❤
Beautiful! This moved me to tears. My dad was a Para in the UK. He dropped on Arnham in Ww2. We have to keep these memories alive of the people who sacrificed all for us and future generations. God bless them all.
Thank you for sharing
This video brought tears to my eyes! What a beautiful and amazing tribute to your family veterans and all of our veterans! I'm in awe ❤
You aren't alone. I didn't get to serve in the military, but I respect all of the people who did and died for us, and the people who currently serve.
Thank you so much!
I doubt there was a dry eye watching this video. I know mine were very wet. Not only did it bring back memories of my Grandpa, great-Uncle who both served in WWII, my Uncles that served in Korea bit also schoolmates and a fiance who lost their lives in Vietnam. My brother also served in the Navy. We owe our Verterans and those who are now serving so very much.
Australia commorated a very important n special day on the 25th. April. It's called Anzac Day. It stands for Australia n New Zealand Army Corps. Your video came out just a couple of days after that date. A timely reminder of those who died for our countries. Lest We Forget. 🤕🤕🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I love this!
I too got tears watching this tribute and I thank you on behalf of my father (Purple Heart sharp shooter Yankee Div. WWII Army ), my Uncle who served in Europe in WWII piloting jeeps and motorcycles because his colorblindness kept him from flying planes, his brother who served in the Navy during the Korean conflict and this Uncle's 2 son's served in the Navy during "Nam. My other cousin who served in the Navy during 'Nam. My 2 younger brothers , one in the Air Force as a staff sgt. and the other in the Army in Korea both during 'Nam. All of these men were profoundly affected by their military experience and each came back home a totally different person - non for the better. War is hell and each who serve makes the ultimate sacrifice that leaves scars that last lifetimes. We need to have peace.
Love seeing these comments
That was very sweet of you to do that for your grandfather.
Thank you
Yet another weeping woman. Your tribute piece to your grandfathers is awesome. Such bravery must never be forgotten. Thank you Barry🙏🏻
What a beautiful and meaningful project. Thank you for saluting family members who served. My dad is a WWII veteran who landed on Omaha Beach about two weeks after D-Day. He received three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star during his service. He was recently awarded the French Legion of Honour Medal for his service in France. He's 101 years young and still going strong. These men and women were certainly the Greatest Generation.
Thank you for sharing
Barry you have taken your channel on a remarkable journey. You're going to hit 100K before you know it! Thanks for sharing another informative video ❤😊.
Thank you so much
Always look forward to your videos. The respect you show towards our veterans is much appreciated. My family has been serving since WW2. My dad was in the Army Air Corps. Five uncles and two cousins in the Marines (one uncle was wounded on Guadalcanal). Three uncles in the Navy. My brother was in the Air Force and Army. I was Navy. I have a nephew in the Air Force today.
Thank you for your service!
Barry: this project has such memories wrapped around it. All the soldiers who gave their lives for all of us to live in freedom. I cry every time when I think about it, including this video. Carol from California
Thank you Carol
Unfortunately its more often for greed than for freedom!
Wow, Barry, you've done it again. You're the only furniture channel that gets me in the emotions! Been with you from the beginning and I am touched by the respect and cherish you hold for people and their history. Big hug from my heart to yours.
This means so much
I hate war......but those who must go through it......deserve honor❤
I hate wars too. Usa is far too war + gun friendly - obviusly never at home, only in other countries.... - that is why I never felt like travelling there. War is about money, money, manipulation ...
Well said
@@somogyiagnes4808 Exactly! if evryone would stay at home and refuse to fight....Let the politicians fight if they want!
I wish I could find someone like you. Great job!!!!
Thank you! 😊
I’m happy to see you using “affordable” tools like Vevor and Banks/Harbor Freight. A lot of creators seem to go crazy with outrageous expensive tools sent to them and make others think they need to spend stupid amounts of money on them. I have mainly Harbor Freight and restored older tools and couldn’t be happier. I get the same end result as the same folks with tens of thousands of dollars in new name brand tools. Love your videos and that was an amazing project. I’d love to see more build type videos but I still enjoy the restoration videos as well.
So glad you recognize that.
Barry, THIS is Brilliant!!! What a beautiful way to honor those who've served. I wish I knew where my father's WWII documents and tags went, as I'd love to build a similar safekeeping cabinet for them. This video of yours caused tears of nostalgic joy to my eyes. You're a good man Barry. Best regards, Steven M Bay View, WI
Hi Steve I'm trying to get the same info about my Dad too and I found the local office of Veterans Affairs in my City Hall very helpful. They got me paperwork and said they can get me replacements of his medals.
This means a lot. Thank you
Ex Navy here ... This is absolutely beautiful ❤️ ⚓
Thank you for your service
Thank you for this one Barry. I feel like you not only honored your Grandfathers but all who served. My Dad flew bombers in WWII, my Uncle died in a training crash before he ever left US soil. Thank you again.
Great video. Great heart in the presentation, honoring those who served. The book you show is also favorite of mine, my father gave me a copy of it 50 years ago that I treasure. Many of my family fought in both the Great Conflcts and the Korean War. Your cabinet is an art piece. Thank you for sharing this. It brings back many memories.
I appreciate this
Honorable work for sure
Beautiful work Barry. The memories last forever and are full of "REAL" history. My family is military all across this big beautiful country and I can honestly say that I am Proud to be an American. Because of them fighting for our FREEDOM we are still free today. Thank you and have a wonderful day
Thank you for this
Barry... This is a magnificent memorial to the heroes who served our country. Thank you!
Thank you
Very nice memorial. I'll say it again, I love your heart, Barry.
Thank you
Thank you for your families service, Barry. And thank you for sharing this with us. God bless you
My pleasure
Thank you for your lovely tribute❤
Thanks for listening
Lovely work you did, Barry, and beautiful tribute to not only members of your family who served, but also to those who sacrificed during the World Wars to present. War is indeed ugly, but the courageous men and women need to be remembered and honoured. Thank you so much for sharing clips from your trip and the resulting memory box!
Wow Barry this was such an emotional and moving video. I love how you show honor to our great country and to your grandfathers. I’m tickled to see the brass helm. I had no idea it would be significant to you. Very cool. I’m also happy to learn just how patriotic you are. A few of your videos you’ve shown the flag and it’s greatly appreciated. Your music and filming is always perfect. Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship 🇺🇸✝️❤️
I was hoping you would see that. Thank you for all the beautiful things you’ve sent.
I believe yours is one of the most thoughtful channels on YT. What a labor of love and honor and respect this piece is.
Proud daughter of WWII veteran Army 9th Armoured. What a wonderful tribute to your family members who served. I do so making Quilts of Valor. Our WWII veterans are few now, even Korean War Vets are thinning. 🇺🇲
Thank you for sharing this
Beautiful
Thank you
Loved hearing all the birds in the bacground😊
Me too
Barry, This is a very personal piece. Thank you for sharing. I loved all the aspects of services you included. I especially liked the wood burning effect and standout pieces 😊 Natalie
Thank you so much Natalie
Wow, got all chocked up! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You made my evening 😉
I'm glad!
Mine too, fabulous job ❤
Thrilled to watch this video. My Father served in the Navy in the Pacific in WWII. My Grandfather served in the Army in WWI. My brother & sister also served in the NAVY...You give a lot of good information about your craft. The Lazer is very interesting & cool.....Hello 👋🏻 from Southern California 🌴
Thank you for this
All I can say is wow! All the way around on this one, it has touched everything important in life. Your inner art came shining through, beautiful job barry.
That is a work of art Barry and a piece to be treasured always. xxx
Thank you
I’m speechless at your respect and talent. Thank you for honoring our soldiers.
Very nice piece Barry. Your vision for the artwork on the exterior was spot on!
Thank you
I live in Mesa/Phoenix Arizona and I have a whole house full of antique/vintage furniture that need to be restored. Due to my age and no tools at all don't think it will ever happen. You need a trip to Arizona? I am a female veteran. Which I know is not unheard of but rare.
Thank you for this offer. Please email me if you are able to
@@MadCityModern not sure how to email you.
Barry, you are one beautiful gentleman! The love, respect and admiration you have for your family and their service to your country’s safety and security is just awesome! Such kindness, consideration and respect should be in everyone, and if it were, there’d be no need for armed forces, battles, death and destruction. As John Lennon said, “Imagine”. Until /if it ever comes about, we have wonderful people like you to spur the rest of us on. Thank you for reminding us, we’re here to be good to one another!😇❤️🥹That piece was so bespoke! We’ll never see another anywhere near as good as it or like it. Well done!
Thank you for sharing this
I only speak the truth, as many others would like to say too. Good onya mate!
Very moving tribute to your Grandfather's service to our country. Your memory box is wonderful way to organize and honor them.
Now you’ve made me cry. I have so many in my family who have given years in the military and I’m still so grateful to them for keeping us free! Thank you Barry
This is a beautiful way to honor your Grandfather's an all who served. I'm sure they humbled by what you created. Well done!
Hey Barry, beautiful tribute. I was never in the military but my father was in the Navy. Our brave fighting men and women don't get enough recognition in my opinion. I've been a subscriber for a long time from a different account. I don't refinish furniture, but I love watching you solve problems with the pieces you work on. I've learned quite a bit from you, including how you film your videos. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much
What a beautiful tribute to your grandfathers and to all who have served and those who are serving! This one really touched my heart!
thank you
To put it in one word, it is P E R F E C T. Thank you for sharing it with us. Greetings.
Beautiful, Barry
Thank you Mark
love your channel and for honoring our military !!!
Thank you
Projects with this level of personalization are always outstanding; they become keepsakes for now and treasures to hand down later to your younger family members. What a nice tribute to the men in your family who have served this country. Good job, indeed, Barry! Cheers from Oklahoma!!!
You are an amazing storyteller as well as a gifted craftsman. Well done sir.
What an awesome tribute to your family and all USA veteran heros ! I can see from this labor of love you love your country as I do and honor those who allow us the freedoms many take for granted. Also if many more knew the history of our great country, maybe they wouldn’t be so quick to criticize. This is just wonderful!
Quite an emotional journey through this video. You are a deeply respectful person, quite the old soul. Your family is surely proud.🇺🇸
Thank you
What a lovely way to hold family memories and mementos. This way they will never be lost or forgotten. You made a beautiful cabinet from a pallet, which I find amazing. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much!
It's an absolute work of art Barry and what a beautiful purpose too. I'm lost for words. Well done and thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
I have no words to say how beautiful your work was. As we say here in Brazil: YOU KILLED IT! Congratulations .
Thank you so much
@@MadCityModern You deserve it because of your work. A hug straight from Minas Gerais Brazil.
What a beautiful heirloom that can be passed down from generation to generation! Well done!!
Many thanks!
thank you barry my dad was a tail gunner in japan invastion...in WW2 . it was a very dangerous position to be in..he lived to raise 4 children and died in 1983 mom died 1981.. great job as always they will not be forgotten !!
As human beings we are our memories. Thank you Barry. 🤗❤️🌈🙏🕊️
This project is very moving and brings such ambivalence to me. You see, my father is almost 98 and should have been in WWII, but he was a rebel and a conscientious objector, but not religious. He spent a long time in prison because he refused to go to war. He and the others in prison with him staged a hunger strike so that when he got out at the end of the war, he was fairly emaciated. After the war he worked with Church World Service taking supplies and animals to war-torn Europe. I had one uncle who was in some branch of the service in the Korean War, but no one else that I know of on either side of my family. As a teenager, we moved to a tiny town with a Friends church in it. I met my husband and later realized Quakers are non-violent. Two of his uncles served in Korea, I think, but they refused to fight, so were medics. Even though I can’t claim to have a lot of relatives who served our country like many people here in the comments, I am very thankful for those who have fought for my freedom, while at the same time I have angst about war in general and our country’s involvement in a lot of the conflict we have been in. In modern times wars seem to be mostly generated by greed and power hungry people, not by men of noble character wanting to free the oppressed. I love your work, Barry, and especially the quality of your character. You are a wonderful, caring and noble man.
Tears are flowing...thank you Barry
so glad you enjoyed this
Such a wonderful momento box! Well done.
Thank you so much!
This is a beautiful tribute to the legacy your ancestors have passed down to you.
What a wonderful tribute to your relatives who have served this country!
You created a wonderful piece to store and celebrate your family's history!!! ❤️ ❤❤ Your family is truly among our best generation!!! It was interesting to see how the new tech works and see you use "free" wood. 😊
thank you so much
The piece turned out beautifully! Thank you for sharing the places you visited. Arlington and the Tomb of the Unknowns is truly a humbling experience. My grandfather served in Egypt in WWII, and my uncle in the Coast Guard, and I completely agree that while war is not to be celebrated the heroism and selflessness of those who served must never be forgotten!
As a military wife this had me in tears thank you for honoring our military 🪖
As a Navy Veteran, the mother of 3 Navy Veterans, the widow of a 20 year Navy Veteran & a wife of a 23 year Navy Veteran, Thank You!!
Timely post for us here in Australia. 25th April is ANZAC Day, which is the Australian and New Zealand day for remembering and celebrating our service men and women. This date in 1915 was when our troops landed in Gallipoli during WWI and what we call our ANZAC legend was born. Beautifully crafted container for your memories. Wonderful to watch.
Love what you made from the pallet. But, the story was so good. You may have started your channel to restore furniture, but you have become a storyteller, Barry! You always tell the stories so beautifully. You are so good at what you do, both of them.👏👏👏
So absolutely beautiful, Barry! I can see all the love you put in this piece. It brought back so many memories of my Grandpa who served in WWII. He was my Buddy. Fortunately he lived to be just shy of 93 by 5 days. His Great-Great-Granddaughters loved listening to his stories as they were hearing first hand the stories they were learning in their history classes in high school. Again, this piece is so very beautiful! Hopefully, it will be a part of your history in your family, too.
thank you so much for sharing this
I volunteer at a small WWII museum and so appreciate this video. We have a P51 in the ride and share program!
I love this
You did such a beautiful job on the cabinet. And it was a lovely thing to make to hold the service history of your family.
Yooooooo Barry!!!! You're a FANTASTIC story teller Man. One of your many talents. Such an enjoyable video & a nice change of pace. Very cool project Bud. And.... 17:31 mark did we ALL see Barry's lawn?!?!?! Holy smokes it looked good!! Stay Blessed my friend, Dirty Jersey out!!
Thank you Mike!
Amazing! My father was in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He never really talked about his time while serving, but he definitely believed everyone should serve in a y way 5hey can, even if it's volunteering for local charities. ❤
I had to wait to watch this video until I could be emotional by myself 🙂To honor our forebearers we love and respect so much with the gifts we have, often inherited from them, is such an incredibly special thing. A gift or memorial created, curated, raised or written with our focus on our loved one leaves it infused with the beauty , power, and magic of our memories and our love. Such a gift you have shared with us, Barry. Thank you so very much ❤ Now I need to go and create a section of my garden for my loved ones who have passed who I love so much ❤
What a beautiful memorial to your grandfathers. ❤
Just... wow
Thank you
Great job, beautiful work your grandfathers would be so proud, God bless you

It is just so lovely. One can see the love and honor you have put into this wonderful treasure box
It’s a lovely tribute, wonderful craftsmanship as always.
Aw! 😢 I love it! My brother is in the army and was in the old guard. I was able to visit him while he was stationed in DC ❤
Oh thank you I know I’m on the right track. I’m collecting palets to build my animal houses! I see this and I know I can do it!
i love this!
Absolutely beautiful! My husband's family has served In either the Marines or Navy for the past three generations (my husband was Navy.)

That is a cool laser! I’m so glad for you! You deserve sponsors. I love your channel, your stories, sounds of nature s as bd even the quiet non-narrated videos! They are all splendid! I like your memory box. Thanks for sharing and repurposing a pallet!! My father served in the Army WWII, brother Army Korean Conflict, Uncle retired AirForce, Brother retired Navy Vietnam, sister Army during Vietnam, two brothers who served in the Navy and a nephew who served in the Navy. You brought back so many memories they have shared and a deep passion for my country and respect for those who have served and sacrificed. Thank you!!❤
Great work Barry, have a nice day !!!. Brian UK & God Bless America !!!.
Very well done. Your skills have developed tremendously. You've been doing this long enough now to be an expert in your field.
Thank you honoring our nation's warriors. I've had many family members serve in the military, risking their lives for our freedoms. My fathers' and uncles' experiences in the South Pacific during WWII were horrendous. My brother physically survived Vietnam but was haunted by those memories for the rest of his life. Other family members served both overseas and in-country. I have great respect for our warriors, past and present, who gave/give so much for us. Thank you again for honoring them. And I also thank your family members for their service. God bless.
The only one in my family to serve in 2 was my tiny almost 5' grandma, who was a Rosie the Riveter out in San Diego. We have an aluminum oval plate that would be riveted over plane openings for things like electronics. It bakes the best biscuits on it's unique surface.
Wow. Thank you for sharing this
I absolutely love this project. So beautiful and the meaning behind it is equally so.. My gpa was in WW2. This is a beautiful idea, and I'm going to try to build something like this..
Your videos are so soothing. Love watching you create!!
Hi Barry, You commented about the ineffectiveness of your table saw for this project. David on the 'Make Something' channel just recently posted a video on how to take an inexpensive contractor's saw and make it into a truly functional table saw. Take a look at that before you buy a new/newer one. The title of the episode is "Cheap to Elite: Transforming a Cheap Table Saw into a Professional Cabinet Saw." Cheers! Enjoyed this episode.
This is such a great comment. I watched his video the other day and decided to do the same for my workspace. That will happen soon, I hope...
Hello! My father was shot down over Germany Feb 24th 1944. He was a radio operator on the Flying Fortress B24 bomber. He landed in a farmers field and the man came after him with his pitchfork and dog. He spent 18 months as a POW. He was in 3 different stalag camps. The Germans kept them on a March from camp to camp so the Americans couldn’t find them. There’s so much more to this story. Although he didn’t get a Purple Heart 💜 he should have!
