Once the UV coating is stripped off, the plastic will become hazy and dull in a matter of months. They look good when they are done, but without UV coating being reapplied, its a very temporary fix.

Very slow process especially using a helper ,shouldn't remove the lens for buffing as it can damage the headlamp assembly ,looked ok but not finished with a clearcoating so lens will be degraded in no time

Во первых зачем было ее снимать с машины , во вторых грубо снимать верхний слой лезвием это вообще смех , в третьих нарушили герметизацию . А надо было просто не снимая с машины , взять молярный скотч , закрыть им лакокрасочное покрытие вокруг фары, взять шкурку с зернистостью 800 и 2000 и отшкурить до матового состояния , потом отполировать , вот и все дела , хотя фара быстро опять помутнеет через месяца 2-3 , так как нужен защитный слой сверху .

You DO NOT have to remove the bumper or the headlight out. However you must apply a nice even coat of UV to the lights.

shaving off the top layer of plastic was ingenious .Usually wet sanding would be enough but for deep scratches this technique is great !

And quicker. But you would need a deft hand, because you might cut away too much plastic which will affect the refraction of light and the beam pattern. If you have the time, do the wet and dry thing instead.

I hit mine with Blue Magic every 6 months with a cloth polishing wheel on my 4.5 grinder. Then his with a nice Mother’s Wax that has UV in it and so far it’s been 4 years and they look great.

800 шкуркой снимаю часть помутневшего лака, затем покрываю двумя слоями акриловым лаком. И все это на месте, без разборки фары, и без демонтажа из авто. Быстро и на год суровой эксплуатации хватает.

That polish isn't gonna last long, you need to apply a UV protective clear coat over that, it's gonna turn yellow in less than 6 months, also he didn't properly seal it , those lights will be full of water after the next rain/wash

I think you're forgetting the fact that these people are being resourceful and economical as much as possible. Us in the West just live in a throw away society. I'm a time served HGV mechanic and whilst at college we had to strip down starter motors and alternator and rebuild them. Since then I have never repaired a starter motor or alternator. These people are maintaining the skills that we have unfortunately lost.

Only missed step here is a sealant when finished. Without the UV sealant it will turn opaque in short time from sun exposure. The original manufacturer has a UV sealant that protects the plastic but its removed in this restoration process.

Just on the surface a UV blocker will not help much. The UV stabilzer must be with the main mix of the plastic. Any type of top coating likely is only to smoothen the surface and yes must have a UV coating as well. The comment of waxing will work but not stable of course.

Easiest way to restore them is wetsand them with 400 grid depending on how yellow they are and work all way up to 800 and then just clear coat them. If u buff them you warp the plastic and if u over heat the plastic, it will Crack in a spider web form then u can just throw them away.

You don't have to take the lens off of the headlight housing and depending on your tools and vehicle you can leave the headlight on the vehicle. I personally would have wet sanded and then buffed it. Then I would use a good UV protectant wax. Every few months you have to clean and then reapply the UV wax for it to look nice long-term. You can also spray a clear coat over the refurbished lenses but I normally just used the wax.

Yes can usually all be done on the car without pulling the headlights at all, and just sand it. Put some tape around the light to protect the paint work. You can get the proper UV protective coat and apply that afterward or it will go dull again as it oxidizes.

UV clear coat is okay, but I often end up with an orange peel finish. Has to be done on a hot sunny day. Which we don't get anymore in the UK. #Greta_is_right

@@schustoff на самом деле защитный слой снимается и при обычной полировке. Но его нужно обязательно наносить,для защиты от царапин и пожелтения. А он этим способом уменьшил толщину линзы + полировка абы как. Хоть она и выглядит презентабельно,светить она будет абы как,но точно не так как надо. Существует техника полировки,при которой не нарушается оптические характеристики фары. Как-то так.

This is not ingenious this is stupid breaking the seal of the headlight. Removing the uv coating removing it from the car. All dumb. You can do that his in 15 minutes on the car with sand paper water and a drill buffer

Please. I did 4 headlights last week without removing them from my vehicles. No need to take the clear cover off the assembly. When I was done, I applied a 2 part clear coat that will last the life of the car. How's that for a westerner?

Весь защитный слой соскаблили ,эта фара быстро помутнеет без него, перекуп вариант , простоб заматовали и лаком покрыли ну или полирнули и пленкой заклеили

Once the UV coating is stripped off, the plastic will become hazy and dull in a matter of months. They look good when they are done, but without UV coating being reapplied, its a very temporary fix.

Very slow process especially using a helper ,shouldn't remove the lens for buffing as it can damage the headlamp assembly ,looked ok but not finished with a clearcoating so lens will be degraded in no time
one could make a channel about accidents with rotating machines and loose workwear and never ran out of videos.

Во первых зачем было ее снимать с машины , во вторых грубо снимать верхний слой лезвием это вообще смех , в третьих нарушили герметизацию . А надо было просто не снимая с машины , взять молярный скотч , закрыть им лакокрасочное покрытие вокруг фары, взять шкурку с зернистостью 800 и 2000 и отшкурить до матового состояния , потом отполировать , вот и все дела , хотя фара быстро опять помутнеет через месяца 2-3 , так как нужен защитный слой сверху .
Я ещё дополню, протирать отражатель это конченное дело) он моментально царапается)))

There's so many easiest ways of doing this then taking this whole light apart and risking breaking the clips.
They live in a desert, its going to get dusty inside and they need to be taken apart.
@@jamesmiller7911 they don't live in a dessert and even if they did, lights have seals to stop dust and dirt going in. He actually made it worse by not resealing it properly.
You DO NOT have to remove the bumper or the headlight out. However you must apply a nice even coat of UV to the lights.

shaving off the top layer of plastic was ingenious .Usually wet sanding would be enough but for deep scratches this technique is great !
And quicker. But you would need a deft hand, because you might cut away too much plastic which will affect the refraction of light and the beam pattern. If you have the time, do the wet and dry thing instead.

I hit mine with Blue Magic every 6 months with a cloth polishing wheel on my 4.5 grinder. Then his with a nice Mother’s Wax that has UV in it and so far it’s been 4 years and they look great.

800 шкуркой снимаю часть помутневшего лака, затем покрываю двумя слоями акриловым лаком. И все это на месте, без разборки фары, и без демонтажа из авто. Быстро и на год суровой эксплуатации хватает.
А если есть пятна со внутренней стороны?)
That polish isn't gonna last long, you need to apply a UV protective clear coat over that, it's gonna turn yellow in less than 6 months, also he didn't properly seal it , those lights will be full of water after the next rain/wash

I think you're forgetting the fact that these people are being resourceful and economical as much as possible. Us in the West just live in a throw away society. I'm a time served HGV mechanic and whilst at college we had to strip down starter motors and alternator and rebuild them. Since then I have never repaired a starter motor or alternator. These people are maintaining the skills that we have unfortunately lost.

Only missed step here is a sealant when finished. Without the UV sealant it will turn opaque in short time from sun exposure. The original manufacturer has a UV sealant that protects the plastic but its removed in this restoration process.
A good quality car wax just applied by hand every so often protects them from uv and keeps them clear.

Just on the surface a UV blocker will not help much. The UV stabilzer must be with the main mix of the plastic. Any type of top coating likely is only to smoothen the surface and yes must have a UV coating as well. The comment of waxing will work but not stable of course.

Easiest way to restore them is wetsand them with 400 grid depending on how yellow they are and work all way up to 800 and then just clear coat them. If u buff them you warp the plastic and if u over heat the plastic, it will Crack in a spider web form then u can just throw them away.

You don't have to take the lens off of the headlight housing and depending on your tools and vehicle you can leave the headlight on the vehicle. I personally would have wet sanded and then buffed it. Then I would use a good UV protectant wax. Every few months you have to clean and then reapply the UV wax for it to look nice long-term. You can also spray a clear coat over the refurbished lenses but I normally just used the wax.
Yes can usually all be done on the car without pulling the headlights at all, and just sand it. Put some tape around the light to protect the paint work. You can get the proper UV protective coat and apply that afterward or it will go dull again as it oxidizes.
UV clear coat is okay, but I often end up with an orange peel finish. Has to be done on a hot sunny day. Which we don't get anymore in the UK. #Greta_is_right
The headlights probably had bad seals and were getting condensation in them. These guys aren’t that dumb that they can do all of this stuff but can’t figure out how to take a headlight out…

Perfect! Beautiful. These guys a masters of lenses. Car dealers in the U.S.; instead of repairing one for the customer would tell the customer to buy a new one. There is no one in the U.S. that would do a repair or even know how to do it. 👍

@@schustoff на самом деле защитный слой снимается и при обычной полировке. Но его нужно обязательно наносить,для защиты от царапин и пожелтения. А он этим способом уменьшил толщину линзы + полировка абы как. Хоть она и выглядит презентабельно,светить она будет абы как,но точно не так как надо. Существует техника полировки,при которой не нарушается оптические характеристики фары. Как-то так.
