FIRST DRIVE: Lamborghini Revuelto - 1,001bhp V12 Hybrid MONSTER! | Top Gear

2024 ж. 12 Мам.
820 561 Рет қаралды

Lamborghini has often felt like the last dinosaur, roaring forlornly in the face of electric’s meteoric impact. No more. The Revuelto has adapted to this new climate. The Aventador replacement, Lamborghini’s biggest beast, is now a plug-in hybrid. It features three electric motors, and a 6.5-litre V12 revving to 9,500rpm, for a total of 1,001bhp.
There is no reverse gear, that’s done electrically. There’s no clumsiness either: the handling is far more sophisticated, so too the electrical integration. The gearbox no longer thrashes your head back and forth like a metaller in a mosh pit. There’s more space in the cabin and - ‘alleluja - the seats are no longer as pious as a church pew, but instead embrace and coddle.
Join TG's Jack Rix at the Vallelunga track in Rome for TG’s first thrash in a Lambo like no other.

    • If they stop offering the V12, it will be the end of the line. No one would wanna buy a electric "succesor" to a line of V12 supercars. A perfect example of this is the new AMG C63. Previously all V8, now reduced to a 4 cilinder and nobody is ordering them.

Nice to be reminded that in due time a SV or SVJ version will be on offer (let alone a possible Sterrato !). But beyond all the hypercar stuff (figures, bonkers performance), what counts and is definitely part of the Lamborghini DNA is what I call the feel at the wheel. The first Miura cannot reach 300 but the P400SV can exactly reach 300KPH. The Diablo actually and was the first Lamborghini to reach the 325 KPH mark. The Top Speed of the Diablo Even in GPS can reach 340 KPH Plus if driven properly on a long road. The Murcielago can reach 345 to 354 KPH depending on the aero settings. The Aventador can actually reach 360 KPH according to one independent road test. Sport Auto when they tested the 2011 Aventador reached 370 KPH but when translated to GPS reading it can only do 356 or 354 KPH. I'd say maybe 360 Plus because this car was never tested on a long stretch road to get a much more accurate reading or test. Lots of vents, angles and wings, but not overly-styled like the previous Honda Civic Type-R and the last 10-years' Ferraris. The new steering wheel looks fantastic and the infotainment in the middle is the opposite of what Ferrari are doing - which is good. The Purosangue needs a central screen because choosing between a tachometer and infotainment is an utterly stupid concept. The Revuelto also looks like the ultimate villain's car, like the Audi RS cars. I would have the Revuelto over the SF90 Stradale - even if the suspension is a bit stiff. I mean, the Revuelto can be a glorious GT car if the situation calls for it, but can also be an absolute beast on a track. What a car!

If the Aventador SV and SVJ are just below 3,000 lbs and is dual clutch and have different active aero dynamic settings where you can go for more down force or faster top speed and acceleration and they gave its engine 800 plus more horse power, it can leave behind the 765LT, 918, La Ferra, Huayra, SF90 and P1. The Germans wouldn't care about the aesthetics and would prioritize functionality. The Japanese would re-engineer it to make the camera blend in with the aesthetics.

Kwh is a fixed unit of power used for things like battery capacity specs, a charger would provide a level (7kw) of power continuously for as long as the power grid stays up. Chargers usually are measured by the rate of charge (kW - 1000 watts output), batteries are measured by that rate over a period of time.

    • @@zix_zix_zix Creating a rebodied version of a cheaper older car with a price tag multiple times more than the price tag of the cheaper car with minimal changes just screams a cynical cash grab car. At least, when a manufacturer is bringing out a completely new car, they are putting in the work and showing technological advancements instead of just being lazy and putting an expensive body kit! Ever wondered why Lumbergumber don't even make around 500 odd units of these cash grab limited production cars? And stop exaggerating stuff when you say a new replacement model, every other year!

    • @@amarjit_singh_ You are missing the point; these cars (and motorcycles) are all about the prestige, the design and the exclusivity (hence the low number of models / low production volume). And who cares if the V12 engine of the special edition produces only 20 hp more than the "normal" Aventador engine? That V12 engine is already exotic enough as it is. "Technological advancements"? They don't really care about those either; they just want to do their thing and give their fans exciting new cars and MAYBE improve the new car technologically, here and there, marginally. That's their approach and ethos. This time, they decided to go with a hybrid configuration with their new flagship model, and it seems to me they have succeeded in producing a very good car.

    • @@zix_zix_zix Exclusivity? They're just putting 10, 20 or 100 odd body kits on an existing and cheaper platform and charging millions of dollars in the name of exclusivity! If you really want to talk about exclusivity then look at Ferrari, the Enzo and LaFerrari/LaFerrari Aperta have much more values despite being produced in greater quantities than a Reventón or Sián! That's called real exclusivity! Sure they made a new V12 after 10 years but my point was regarding those body kit and expensive Aventador's! Whether or not this is a good car, it wasn't my point, in fact my main point wasn't even about this car!

Does that diminish excitement for the standard Revuelto? Especially considering how 'marginal' of up trims Lamborghini does.
