@Abdul Ahad well, this IS Doom Eternal, so...

Just watching ltt is like just watching fox news
Short answer: Depends. Long answer: Depends on the game.
No. The top-of-the-line GPU's are capable of handling _this_ resolution
Depends on your dad
If the game is 10 years old. Yes! 5 years old or less. Nope!
Depends on your grandma.
Depends on depending. I personally don't see the point of native 8K, hell, I rarely see the advantage of native 4K. I would take framerate over resolution any day.
1440p looks amazing and more than clear enough, idk why people take the performance hit for 4k, let alone 8k.
720p is amazing you know😃
480p is amazing on my 14 inch crt screen
mainly because a lot of people still dont really know about 1440p and are mostly familiar with TV resolutions. I have a 32 inch 1440p display and its beautiful. Hoping to get a 1440p HRR ultrawide soon
@@saleplains Same, 32 inch, curved, 1440p, 165hz. Dell is awesome
You can clearly notice a difference in graphics on a 2k to 4k screen comparsion and in some games you may value those more as performance, or performance may not be an issue in specific games. Some games require more performance to be fun while others will be totally fine, even if you just run it in 2k
I've been playing emulated Metroid Prime supersampled at like 10K on a 1440p monitor and it looks soooo smooth. There is no aliasing and super sharp detail. It looks amazing and the engine held up very well.

Like 80% of ppl game on 1080p
@@younes-47 According to the Steam Hardware Survey, 66.70% of people game in 1920x1080, specifically.
to be fair, for most PC screens (22-27") going higher than 1080p doesn't make much of a difference. It's only when you go 30+ that it really changes your experience by going into 2 and 4 k, and only in +50" that 8k is even relevant. Just like Linus said, refresh rate and response rate are much more important for most people, than the over-the-top resolution for standard size monitors.
Higher frames matter far more than pixels for competitive play and that is what the majority of gamers play on a day to day basis, so it makes sense. Until 4k+ at 120+ frames becomes far more the norm for majority of rigs 1080-1440 will be the king for a while longer. 1080 p with a 60-144hz refresh rate is so popular, because you don’t need a break the bank monster rig to run modern titles at that level.

AMD has traditionally been pretty good in Vulkan where their inferior drivers are less important, so this isn't surprising. Radeon cards are usually raw computing muscle battling bad early drivers. That's why Radeons usually perform better years after the fact when software has matured. Now AMD finally has a DLSS equivalent coming out which should help a lot.
It didn't from experience
@@freevbucks8019 Lossless Scaling program on steam works well and it runs on any graphics card, even integrated ones. For example, you have a 4k graphics card, but certain games cant max out all the settings. So what do you do? Lower the resolution so you can max out all the settings so might lower to 1080p or 720p.... whatever the game can handle. Max out all the settings and make sure you pick windowed mode. Then you turn on Lossless Scaling to zoom in to full screen. This is the ultimate program for bad performance computers, mainly laptops.
Doesnt Vulkan run off of AMDs Mantle API?
Great comment. This is exactly the situation that happened/is happening with the 6000 series. You can usually tell how old a "RTX 3000 vs RX 6000" type video is by the performance difference. AMD cards have much better performance now than they did even a year ago.

linus: "I can tell its not running at 120fps, totally unplayable" also linus: "55fps is fine"
Well on 8K.
40fps is kind lol the perfect balance
I mean, it is. Some games are perfectly playable even just below 30fps. I like high refresh rates but one thing I really dislike about them is how many people seem to have started thinking that you absolutely need to have hundreds of FPS at any given time if you want to have a smooth picture. Edit: All the people replying saying "Nuh uh its not I hate it" - I guarantee that if you only had the options of gaming on a low-end/midrange GPU at 30-40fps in most titles or not gaming at all, you'd get used to 30-40fps pretty quickly. Like I said: High FPS is nice, but it is simply not essential even in competitive where there's a real competitive advantage to it. (For reference: I used to play Battlefield 2 quite happily with a card that required me to lower settings to Medium just to stay above 30fps and still had loads of fun, usually doing pretty well too)

@Linus You forgot the Fast timings for the radeon card. That does more than memory clocks in most applications i tested. As for clocks sometimes 2126MHz is faster because of the timing steps. 2150 is using different timings again. You can unlock higher memory clocks with the more power tool. Higher voltages does not work than the driver reverts to 500MHz fixed clock somehow. but you can give higher mem clocks a go to see if that works. The Infinity cache was not sized for 8K on these cards. Its barely enough for 4K with a average hit rate of 58% depending on the game. Next generation will be interesting when AMD bumps the size up to 256MB. Should help a lot for 8K performance and 4K should not take a hit anymore. In case of the dual die Navi 31 you probably have 2x256MB the question is if it can be shared well or if you need a lot of duplicate data just like the early 4870 X2 cards that had 2x 2GB but effectively it was 2GB because every GPU needed +- the same data in the frame buffer.
re setting the video driver does fix stuttering sometimes but weirdly stuttering is caused by the audio output. If you change the default audio device it fixes extreme stuttering in games, idk why so don't ask.

A $50 Athlon 3000G APU can run Doom Eternal on its integrated graphics if you equip it with dual channel memory and you set the settings right.
I have the 3090 Suprim X and can confirm that there’s almost no OC headroom. I can only go to +75 on the core but can crank the memory to +1100. Other can get higher on the memory but you’ll be lucky to get anything last +100 on the core. And yes, the memory runs HOT and damn that backplate can melt your fingertips off while mining (memory intensive), think Men in Black style. PS for the price, mining is a great way to pay itself off when your asleep.
AMD stuff has always been know to be more in tune to overclocking. Though not always stable, it’s there. Plus that card also has a L0 and L3 cache to pull a lot of the weight, while the nvidia card doesn’t have those. Both do well for their price point even when it comes to gaming at 8K60 or maybe 4K120, but also the 3090 is like the titan cards, that sorta hit that middle ground of “professional” and “gaming” area. You’d probs do fine if you got an RTX3080, since it’s much less for a 4K gaming card. Maybe even the 3080ti now that thing is out.

If you have one close by it's the best way to get your hands on a card in my opinion as long as you're willing to go there an hour or two before they open every day to get a good spot in the waiting line. They regularly get stock.
Shoukd have tested using the rtx 3090 ftw3 hybrid in stead of the air cooled to make it a even competition.
12:24 to be honest, thats the first area of the game. In later areas in the game or god forbid the ancient of gods dlcs, action and map detail gets even more intense and demanding.
We need Minecraft ray tracing as a benchmark that all that everyone cares about

Wtf did I just read?
@@Mr_Trump what it sounds like between Linus and Yvonne (except it's the other way around)
These subtitles are just too good. Doom Eternal = "Due Maternal" I'm dead!
Should always do your testing on an open air test bed to take away the air flow differences of every case. Do it open air they all have the same chance.
12:26 “doom eternal” Captions: due maternal
What's even going on with those captions. Every video has at least one weird error.

Framerate being more important than resolution is the reason I'm still rocking a good ol Asus VG248QE 1080P 144HZ monitor. 1080 is perfectly fine for most games I play, because I'm not focusing on the super fine details anyway, I'm focusing on what I'm doing in the game. I'd rather have a high refresh rate, because choppiness really breaks my focus and bugs the crap out of me. The only thing that sucks is my EVGA GTX 980Ti SC is finally starting to show its age with new AAA titles, even at 1080p. And to rub salt in the wound, graphics cards aren't very attainable right now. Especially on a college kid's budget.
True NVIDIA is shit overpriced for what they offer. You can see an AMD 6700 or XT
2:00 It hurt me so much when he carried the water cooling hoses like that.
"Doom Eternal can run in a toaster" CS:GO can run in a potato. Edit: 710+ LIKES? THANKS GUYS.
more evidence of my claims
I can't run either of them
Minecraft can run in my pea brain
@@MohamedSalahKZhead Yeah, neither can I, my laptop can only run minecraft at 20fps
I have a potato and I hardly get 40 fps at 720p low on CS GO. It is actually little intensive especially on CPU.
In conclusion: If you play cs:go true pro style in 640x480 stretched on a 360 hz monitor, the rx 6900 xt could be benefical over the 3090.

no rtx is king
@@masternobody1896 lmao not with more than 1000 dollars price difference...
I think the reason the rtx 3080 stutters so much is the lack of resizeable bar causing bottlenecks between the cpu and gpu
How do computer understand things on a physical level? Like how do the electrons actually communicate with the other components and translate to software etc.
€500(!!!) cheaper, 100W less power draw, still overthrows the opposition in some games. That's impressive.
But i need nvindia for deep learning 💀

Hey would you recommend the 6900xt or the 3080ti if I'm just playing 1080p with ultra high settings
ah seasonic. Still advertising the power supply I've been trying to buy for months, but is out of stock everywhere.
I have seen this comment maybe two times already

Sounds like the 4080ti might be the first good enough for 8k card. Although, as Linus said, more excited about 4k 120hz HDR without upscaling.
Can you at one time or another in the future include things like Empyrion or Space Engineer or Ark Survival Evolved ?
Linus: Doom Eternal could run on a toaster Switch port: allow me to introduce myself
toast anywhere, even on the toilet, even in the bathtub
Well a toaster does draw a lot more power than a switch.
my case fan runs shadow of the tomb raider at a record high fps on all high. it's a rosewill clear led fan so the future is devolving us
