BREAKING: genesis stock skyrockets after mkbhd's glowing review
Hyundai*
I doubt it, no matter how good there aren't exactly a bunch of people choosing to blow $70,000 on a cross over. The only rational choice is to buy a RAV4/CRV/Sportage hybrid for 30K, no charging time, and really good gas mileage. The only people buying these have to meet 2 criteria: 1. Be loaded with money 2. Only looking at electric cars. And that's such a niche market. And lets say you belong to this top 5% of the eco-conscious population. You still have to divide that number of finite customers between the competitors. TBH I don't think these are going to do well.
The Genesis has come up over the years and it's a serious contender against the Lux competition. Hyundai as a whole has been putting out better vehicles than it was pre-2010

Took delivery of our GV70 EV almost a year ago. The most common complaint is the range of 236 miles. We were concerned about this but felt the fast charging would make up for it. A year later in all seasons our GV70 average range is 250 miles. In summer temperatures of between 70-80 degrees F you will get 280-290 miles of range. By the way we live in Southern Ontario, Canada.
Moving to Buffalo and was concerned about this as I'm getting this soon. Thanks for easing my worries!
what about keeping the interior clean how hard is it to manage?
Same. I've been seeing 260-270 with eco style driving.
@@KurosakaOur GV70EV with white interior holds up well and we haven’t cleaned the interior for the past year since delivery. Our 1st EV was a 2019 Tesla where exterior fit and finish is nowhere near the fit and finish of the GV70. In Canada we believe the GV70 EV is the best value of any EV sold in our country.
@@TimSmith-db1iu I have used comfort mode and when driving in the city use the regen manually to either slow down or stop using 1 pedal. This way I rarely use the brakes and generate many watts back to the battery pack. Hope you are enjoying the GV70.

I also got this is in my i20. So Hyundai also does this in the small cars, not only SUVs
It’s not pull up. They are automatic in the top trim. You just use the window up and down button.

10:04 - Seriously. For real. THAT is a sick accessibility for ANY car manufacturer. Like it's 2024 and this is the first time we've seen this!!!!!!
My BMW 5 Series already had this function in 2018.
Soo, the car thinking that you're calling yourself is actually your iphone using the car's microphone when you dictate to it. The only way for the iphone to use your car's microphones is to switch to a low latency mode in BT for which the car requires basic data like the caller and your phone says that you're calling yourself.
Yeah I’ve had quite a few cars do this
My old bmw used to do that but would pick a random number so it would freak me or my passengers out occasionally
Shocker. MkBHD doesn't do his research
@@satl3161 not really surprising. He’s always been a surface level tech reviewer for the average consumer.
I googled this issue just now and every Apple forum post about it just says to redo the pairing or gaslighting "actually that's not possible". I can't find any source that says it's due to the phone switching mics.
I think its becoming more apparent that the "better" or "best" EV's are the EV's that don't try to make something new or alien or anti synergy to what we are used to but really take what we know and slightly make it better or add a little twist to them or just used what's already proven to work over the past few decades
"BEST" is his opinion , its NON factual.
Exactly!!!
That‘s exactly what I thought
I continue to love (on my Hyundai Ioniq 6) how quickly and simply adjustable Hyundai / Kia / Genesis makes their brake regen. Some people *love* full 1-pedal driving, some people want it to feel like an old-fashioned car and coast until they hit the brake pedal... and this EV platform adapts to any style. But you missed what I think is the best mode of all, what Hyundai calls Smart Regen. If you pull and hold the right-side paddle for a few seconds, it changes to "AUTO" in the gauge cluster, and then you can click it to levels between AUTO 0 and AUTO 3. Then, it applies that amount of regen as you take your foot off the accelerator, but also it's using its forward radar sensor to watch the car ahead of you in lane, and it *adds a touch of extra regen to smoothly "ease in" behind that driver* as they slow or stop at a light. In my opinion it's telepathically good, decelerating smoothly exactly as I would have done, so I love AUTO 1. Some people can't stand the car "deciding to brake for them", so they can just turn it off. If you still have the car available to test, you should try this mode in traffic. Great review! I haven't drive any Genesis cars, but I like the interior and exterior aesthetic.
My parents got a GV60 and they are still in love with it after a few months. It’s really nice! Build quality and materials feel great too!

I love my 2023 Genesis gv70 and I agree the next one has to be the electric version for sure . ❤
Love the electrified GV70! One clarification, the GV70 (and other 800v E-GMP vehicles - EV6, Ioniq 5, etc) max around 245ish kW. Hyundai/Kia/Genesis say charge times on a 350 kW charger because the typical 150 kW or 200 kW chargers wouldn't achieve the charge time that's quoted. But it doesn't actually charge at 350 kW. It does have a REALLY solid charge curve though.
👆
Charge curve > peak charge so I'm with ya
@@stuyjcp yeah honestly a 245 kW peak is solid, but the charge curve is more impressive IMO
I've never seen more than 238kW on my GV70, but I think the 350kW is right as this is the max that it can recharge with regen braking. You just can't pull that much from the plug.. I might be wrong though.

Me too, less than 2 weeks. Came off from 2021 xc60 lease as well. I don't miss the xc40 / xc60 at ALL. As of April 2024,Genesis has a 13 month lease this month for the ELECTRIFIED models. The Gv60 advanced is 469, gv60 Rwd is 379 (same 3999 down) but only max 11000 EV Lease Bonus from Genesis. .....OR ... .... Wait 1 year and you can get 10 % increase in battery capacity and EV range without any increase in weight in the gv60, gv70 or IONIQ5.
As of May 2024, Per Genesis offers website, Advanced trim of the gv70 Ev is still 499/ month, 3999 down for 10k miles. Only difference now is slightly higher 18000 cash back for the 36 month gv70 lease.

The parallel headlamp and taillamp equal width strips are a master stroke of branding and design. All previous Genesis brand aesthetics were amalgamations of other design tropes till they finally nailed it.
But they only had 2 models before this design, which were the G80 previously known as the Hyundai Genesis and the G70.
@@trstnhnTrue. Indeed, much like Mazda trying to enter the luxury game in the early '90s Hyundai had to take a few swings before getting it right. Marcus! Thanks so much for this video. I really enjoyed it and I also related to it. I recently rented a Genesis G80 for a long road trip, and I came away with an assessment of that one that is very similar to yours on this GV70. Plus, I had the exact same experience you did the first time I tried to find the charging port. I had to look it up online! One more thing you need to know about that front charging port is that after a couple of nights of highway driving, the front grill is covered in smashed insects, which you have to deal with one way or another in order to open or close the port. That was an interesting experience. :-). Just get a pair of gloves! Otherwise the G80 was very similar to your description of this one except that I think the range must’ve been longer. Overall, I would certainly rate the G80 as an EV road trip beast. I really enjoyed it a lot.
Bought a Genesis gas Gv70 2024 3.5 AWD sport advanced this year... and boy let me tell you... the car is fucking AWESOME. I literally get into my car everytime with joy. Looks: great luxury: great performance: good Bang for your buck: excellent I looked at comparable models from Porsche, Audi, BMW, and Acura... the Gv70 takes the cake because its comparable if not better in every way besides "brand" name. Not to mention it was significantly cheaper. Cannot recommend Genesis enough. Only thing I've heard negative is that some people have had poor dealership experiences.
beautiful car
So if you have a front end crash where that charging port is you could be super duper effed instead of just regular effed.
In all these new EVs a front end crash will quite likely total the car. Teslas get totalled even if the frame gets slightly misaligned by a slight touch at 10 mph.
@karankenZ well any car with a bent frame even slightly is considered totaled as it jeopardizes its safety, so insurance companies just total the car. I'm not sure how easy Teslas frame can bend but that's sad if it's fairly easy.
@@Some0ne001 In most modern cars it is super easy to bend frame. My friend got rear ended slightly on her BMW 230i and it was totalled because of bent frame. There's a reason insurance costs keep rising 10% YOY. Things are just plain stupid these days. This front charging port is not gonna be a problem since getting hit these days most of the time leads to totalling.
Why? The receptacle isn’t powered and not any more expensive or fragile than headlights, radar, a radiator, the hood etc.
This is a korean car brand, they aren't manufactured with the American crash/accident-centric drivers in mind.
Really impressed by the quality of the 15 pro, you should upload in HDR
Wow, the interior do be looking nice.
I’m a bit skeptical of the charging port at the front. I Love how hidden it is however In the event of a front impact accident the front of your car is screwed along with the charging port. And your cars main source of power being broken like that is kinda scary cuz if you do manage to drive your car away from the accident, it’s broken so you can’t recharge the car later on. You’ll need to fix the charging port immediately before your car turns into a brick.
It is clear OP has never owned/driven an EV with the front charge port, this writer does and has a KIA Niro with the front port. Its the best place for it- I know from experience. As to your HANDY, built in a mental vacuum, accident; if the charge port is on the drivers side fender near the door and you are "T" boned on that side, the port is broken as well. OR, if its in the back and---well, the open minded reader sees the point. There is NO place for the charge port that cannot be damaged in an accident. And that goes for a gas car as well. Have an accident where the car and the filler tube are, and you cannot re fill the car till the repairs are made.
@@harriettanthony7352 that’s not the point tho, the same logic can apply to cars in general, you could drive off a cliff and have a car completely wrecked. You’re more likely to damage your front bumper than you are to get T-boned which is why I left the comment. If you get rear ended (which is an extremely common accident) you could roll forward and hit the car infront damaging your front bumper. Happened to my dad last month. If you knew anything about cars the goal is to minimise as much damage in the event of a crash. Hence why crash tests are done before a car goes into product. We’ve seen these design concept in many cars before, the charging port at the front is a design flaw. For example, many cars have a mechanism which drops the engine in the event of frontal crash to avoid injuring passengers. This is an example of a good safety design. Bumpers as a whole have 1 primary purpose, to house engine components and suppress the crash to protect those components along with the passengers. Hence the name “bumpers” In the case of electric cars there is no engine to protect which is great, however housing the vehicles charging port in the bumper (the part of a car with the sole purpose of suppressing a crash) is a pretty stupid idea. The reason why I brought this example up is for the event of a minor “bumper to bumper” crash. If you get tboned you’re probably not driving away regardless. If you slightly hit the car infront of you and damage your bumper you may be able to drive away, but you may not be able to charge your vehicle anymore. It’s not the same as hitting your bumper and breaking your headlights, those are negligible, charging port is not negligible because it’s your vehicles primary source of power. Without it, you can’t charge which means you can’t drive.
@@harriettanthony7352 also you can refill a car if the car cap is damaged. A car has a fuel tank, whether the tank is exposed or not doesn’t matter as long as the tank and everything else are fine. I don’t even know why you commented, I’m an actual engineer and I’m pointing out a design flaw. I’m sure the engineers that designed this car knew it would be a flaw but thought the seamless design was worth the sacrifice. I dont think you envision your examples in your head before you typed them out. If you get tboned you have worst things to worry about than the gas cap. You need to remember EV charging ports are a bunch of wires, a gas cap is a tunnel leading down to the fuel tank. Hypothetically if you cut that tunnel in half you can still refill the tank because the fuel tank itself is fine. Only way you couldn’t refill the tank is if the tunnel has been bent shut in the accident. In that case you can just open it and refill. I imagine if the EV charging port gets damaged you’d have to replace the part which may take a while to order and receive. And since the charging port is within the bumper, you’ll need to replace the bumper to house the new charging port. Meaning if this cars bumper and charging port gets damaged, you need to replace Atleast both parts. (Unless you’re fine with a dangling charging port at the front of your car)
That’s some nice air con temperature.
Nice quality of life to show what your adjusting when touching the seat controls

I test drove a Genesis GV70 before purchasing a CPO BMW iX. I liked the exterior of the GV70 better than the iX, but the BMW dealership experience was much better than the Genesis/Hyundai/Kia. The white interior of the GV70 looks good in pictures and on camera, but looked cheap in person, and the interior is much smaller than I anticipated. Additionally, the GV70 has both under and over steer when pushed. I also wasn't a fan of pushing the boost button to get the extra power when needed, as I didn't want to fumble around in the steering wheel when trying to go quickly. Pretty car, but flawed. Looking forward to the version 2 of it.
all dealerships are cringe
Interesting. My local Genesis dealership was much better than the few BMW dealerships I visited but naturally, this will vary from location to location. I test drove the 4 cyl GV70 and came away thoroughly impressed - 300hp is more than enough for my needs. Big fan of the exterior but it's really the interior that stole the show - yeah, white is nice but not practical. Looking for a 2 year used one haven't found the right one yet and values appear to be holding up surprisingly well. I think 99% of people really don't need that extra power and if you do, it's really not that difficult finding that button at the bottom of the steering wheel. Agree, V2 will likely be slightly larger (guessing with the addition of a hybrid) which should make it even more interesting to many... Um, have to discount your comments on Genesis styling...given that you bought an iX. I'm a big BMW fan, but the iX is not what most would consider a good looking vehicle. Those beaver buckteeth are a sight to behold. Hope you like it though...
They just got approved for Genesis standalone dealership. Right now all Genesis dealerships are basically add on to Hyundai dealership. They will have standalone genesis dealerships end of this yr. Hyundai/kia have one of worst dealership experience in the car brand. Our hyundai/kia dealership shares waiting room with service mechanics. Oil stains and with 50+ cup stainless coffee machine along with cafeteria steel chairs. Sadly dealerships are owned private and hyundai/kia won't enforce better environment for customers. Well Tesla Model Y standard has around that much too. But in reality EV with E-GMP platform has more real-world range. I have Model 3 Standard, EQS450+ and had EV6 for loaner. EQS has extremely accurate range every single time(350mi), EV6 is pretty accurate if you drive like a grandma(240mi). But Tesla its more like 210ish in real world, it gets worse on highways. The "auto" regen mode on Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles is super underrated too in my opinion. The feature actively changes the level of regen based on the gap between you and the leading vehicle. Takes all the thought out of braking.
The touch sensitive seat controls on the screen are exceptionally cool, GM's controls are not clear when they have the massaging seats and it is a pain to teach that technology to people from the villages
Another solid autofocus video. Keep up the great work bro. I do want to ask this question cuz I'm kind of curious if you could EV convert one car? What car would it be and why? Me myself. I would want to convert the old school '90s box Chevy but like the blacked out police edition to an EV. I think that might be nice anyway, I'll catch you on the next one. Have a good one.
Really like this car, comfort ftw! Agree on the less power more range bit too :)
Does anybody else want a Marques vs. geese cage fight? 😂 Great review!
This car is damn fine. Just saw one today and its profile is awesome.
Got this car about a month ago from the GV80. Definitely a little tight on the inside but fun to drive. Agree the battery life is the biggest hiccup you have to deal with but if you’re going electric it’s a great option. They included 3 years free charging on mine which was a huge factor.
This car has the best dashboard i have seen from an EV thus far. Then again i haven't seen that many EVs but i do love the actual physical buttons instead of just slapping a bunch of screens on the dashboard and calling it a day. This is much more practical and safer.
One thing to consider with the front charge port, now a minor fender bender can turn into a much bigger and costlier situation.
The GV70 Electric is absolutely rock solid, except for the range. With the package it's a little pricey too. Enjoyed the review.
Keep the good work man
in your opinion, which is the best Tesla model to own? thanks for the great posts - tony
Genesis makes great cars and they look so good.
The mic is so good. No more wind noises 😄
What's the phone/camera are you using? Looks stunning!
Really like that car. I'm not sold on electric cars while they are still in the infancy stage, but that's one Id consider if I had that kind of money
9:44 That's a great detail. Love it.
That design, I’m really fond of it. It’s so thought out…
it has so many good features thats way impressive than most cars, its almost perfect car compared to alll other cars, and all rounded, and its like 90% perfect car
