  • I just did a 2000km road trip in this car (GT Line), driving from the Swedish southwest up north and back. It's a fantastic vehicle indeed. Excellent charging performance (flat curve, if you pre-heat accordingly you'll see 160-180kW+ speeds even at 15% and 75-80% state of charge. Very reassuring to drive, very comfortable and as you say LOADS of tech - with most of it being focused on actual everyday usability rather than just cool gimmicks to show off to your nerdy friends (aka Mercedes EQ models). I love that i can just charge my cameras and drones while driving. Also, the paus mode (aka "camping mode") works perfectly. The car pulled only 10% battery running overnight as a campervan. Cheers!

    • @@terencewrennd.1741 Not a chance, the build quality and support you'd get from kia is way better than tesla. Tesla's also look butt ugly. I have to stare at so many of them everyday and the shear ugliness of the car is slowly starting to drive me insane. The only modern car I think is more ugly is a honda civic from the mid 2010's. Kia makes a better car than tesla and that's not really that crazy when you consider how long they have been in business. The real reason you shouldn't buy a kia is that they sell your data to your insurance company. They sell your location data, acceleration, breaking, speed, what trips you've taken, where you been, etc. They track everything and sell it to your insurance. Your insurance will than take that data and jack up your insurance rates. Considering that tesla is also only going downhill at the moment, they too will likely start to sell your data soon if they don't already. Getting a car that isn't ruined by some shitty business practice these days is a fucking a chore.

  • I have been a BMW owner for almost 30 years. I wanted a fast electric car so I ordered an i4 M50. After nearly a year I got tired of waiting. I went into a Kia dealership a year ago and saw an EV6 GT on the floor. Got in it, got a great feeling from it, took it for a test drive and bought it. I decided to forget about the label and try something different - I’m so glad I did. The car has been great…well built, practical, all the bells and whistles, better range than advertised and neck-snapping acceleration. I’m a Kia fanboy now.

The dealership experience continues to suck because in the US, the dealers take the fun right out of car shopping. • Been driving my EV9 GT for almost 2 months now, over 1100 miles. I cannot say enough with how happy my family is. It really feels luxury, it is almost stupid how fast it is, and it does feel like they thought of everything. With the heavy doors (vs minivan sliding doors), my 5 year old took a couple trips to get used to using them, but now she does it on her own. My biggest 2 annoyances so far are that the rear windshield wiper doesn't do the whole rear window well and the massage seat is only for the driver (my kids love the heated captains chairs though). And if your biggest problem is a lack of massage seats for the passengers, that tells you how amazing the car is.

  • We've driven most of the available EV models as rentals (Polestar/Volvo/Tesla/Ford/Chevy/Hyundai). We own a Model 3, and have had 3 generations of Nissan Leafs as well as a hybrid Ford Maverick. We bought an EV9 yesterday and are absolutely blown away. SO quiet compared to the M3! Kids say "I feel like I'm in a plane!" I think when word of mouth spreads, especially among families, and especially when they are made in the US or have other incentives applied, this car will pop off in demand like the Telluride. Well done engineers of Kia and especially love the hard work that went into the recent OTA updates that fixed the battery issue.

  • That was just the quick yet thorough review I was looking for, and since my car needs to pull things, remember this one is capable of pulling as I recall 1,5tons, and amazing leap forward. Also, though I don't like suv style, your label minivan is really interesting.

  • Saw one of those parked at a Costco last week and actually took a picture of it to send to some friends. It's a very nice, subtle yet somehow aggressive looking, family vehicle. I appreciate them putting the effort into the design and aesthetic over the typical Tesla they all look the exact same for the last 10 years, is it a 2014 or a 2024 it's anybody's guess, styling.

  • FYI, the only modes that keeps AWD active all the time are Sport and Snow modes. Eco and Normal modes will decouple the front motor so the vehicle is only RWD once cruising. In those modes, the front wheels only kick in when power is needed on acceleration, and when leaving from a stop.

  • My last 3 cars have been KIA's. I've driven a Telluride since 2020. 2years ago I put a down payment for a R1S - Back in August 2023 I started hearing about a KIA EV based loosely on the Telluride platform called the EV9, But was still set on the Rivian R1S,. Rivian was suppose to roll off the assembly line by 2023... but was taking longer and longer. Started hearing more about the EV9 fall of 2023. Took back my deposit for my R1S. They were taking too long to get my configuration off the assembly line. 3 weeks ago I bought my EV9 GT and loving it. Glad you're letting more folks know about KIA. as Hancock would say... "Nice Job".

  • I love this. I own a Kia Sportage 2017 and it’s still more equipped than many other vehicles in the price range like all 4 heated seats and you can lean the back seats to almost laying position plus you have the WiFi etc something I’ve rarely seen before. I would def look into KIA again for my next SUV.

  • As a minivan driver, this aint it. Minivans have a flat floor from front to back, seats that fold into the floor (or remove altogether) to allow a 4'x8' sheet of plywood or drywall to lay flat with the rear gate closed, sliding doors that allow for a bigger opening without needing so much clearance between the car next to you, and they still have more 3rd row legroom AND storage room behind the 3rd row. Also, the floor height is lower (better) so they: are easier to get people and big items in and out of, allow for taller items to fit and people to stand more upright when moving around, and it lowers the cg to noticably improve handling and driving characteristics. Say what you will about the look, but people are fooling themselves when they pick a 3 row SUV and think it has similar utility as a minivan.

  • I've had a top-trim Telluride for over 3 years now. With Napa leather seats, a suede headliner, heated/cooled front seats & captains chairs (a feature which some cars that cost double don't have), adaptive cruise control, and tons of the EV9s features shown in this vid, I often feel like I bought a Volvo or Range Rover for $49,000. Yes, there's plastic and faux materials across the cabin, but nothing I touch ever feels cheap, and the highest touch items often actually have aluminum trim to keep the feel premium. Everything has weight and tightness to it, regardless of whether it's plastic or not. Kia isn't the brand it used to be, and hasn't been for almost half a decade now. People discounting cars like the EV9 just because it has a Kia badge need to get with the times and realize they're missing out on what's probably the best value in cars on the market.

  • Love your videos. One thing to add when you're reviewing cars would be the warranty. Like, comparing this to a Rivian, how do the warranties compare? With cars being so tech-dependent, not having to worry about replacing/fixing things in the future is a pretty big deal.

  • I have a R1S and think it has significantly more cargo space, the frunk is almost triple of that and that’s is huge to me. Also you did talk about cameras, does the EV9 have the camera system all around and the ability to record? What about security system? I love the Rivians ability to be a multi tool and go off road with immense amount of ground clearance to low with the air suspension (we use it all the time) as well as kneeling when we get out of the car, i love the ability to not have to have a key, no start button it’s just on, and the pet mode and gear guard, there’s quite a bit you didn’t mention if your really comparing to those models that are 10-15k more… but good info!

It has everything a minivan has --- minus sliding doors. 3. I'd say it is good, not surprisingly. Kia is killing it in SUVs and EVs. I'm also really looking forward to the EV5 and EV3 SUVs.

  • I love the second row captain's chair option. That was my biggest problem with the R1S: You had to pull a seat forward in order to get a kid into the third row. By definition, the person who'd be comfortable in the way back was too small to do that themselves. This looks perfect for a family of 5 or 6.

  • I like minivans because the sliding door openings are a lot bigger- it makes placing a toddler into a baby seat a lot easier. Their heads could bump the opening, don’t ask me why! Mini vans also sit lower so kids and get in easier. More vertical space too. On long trips everyone appreciates having some space

  • Another great review. I am not even buying a car right now, just an MKBHD fan, but it’s very insightful on the EV development. I’ve seen many drawers, buttons, switches and generally extras in a car brake after not so long time of use however. You might argue that it’s got everything, but that everything might not last for the future. I wonder if it’s actually build well on the inside (outside if the plastic or not aspect, just the mechanisms and all).
